"I PLEDGE NIGERIA IS NOT MY COUNTRY...SO BREAK IT GOD":THE NEW PLEDGE DISPARAGES NIGERIA

Sunday 21 August, 2016

Recently, a very powerful revised rendition of "Nigerian pledge" flooded the social media reading,
"I pledge Nigeria is not my country, how can I be faithful, loyal and honest to an expired country? To be a Nigerian is not by force, I don't defend her unity, I don't uphold her honor and glory, so BREAK it God."

While some simply takes the rendition as fun, the fact remains that it is a strong conviction of the deplorable situation of the worthless entity called Nigeria, by the Biafrans who have totally lost faith in the so called "one Nigeria." We are all humans and cannot shy away from the reality that one who cares less about you has no much space in your mind.

The fact that people who were once "Nigerians" now turns to reject the same country they once embraced, calls for a very serious food for thought. Why would one suddenly be disgusted about his/her country? Many reasons are responsible, but the more serious are the issues of lopsidedness frequently witnessed in Nigerian government, especially the northerners who always see themselves as "born to rule" while other people are mere appendages.

They take decisions on their own in the same country said to be for all. Always, those decisions are only to their benefit, while others can simply "go to hell." When it comes to allocations, they have the largest, while the owners of the resources go with little amounts. What about employment? You must have also heard of the so called "federal character" system which is another fraudulent mechanism put in place to dominate other ethnicities by the north.

It was Murtala Muhammed, a Biafran genocide perpetrator, who used the word first in his address at the opening session of the Constitution Drafting Committee on Saturday, the 18th of October 1975.
It could be argued that federal character was enshrined in the constitution for the good of all, but the question remains, "does federal character reflect in the allocation of funds and appointment of Biafrans into various political positions in the supposed 'ONE NIGERIA?" the answer is, no!

It is the same style with which Sharia was enshrined into the constitution, that federal character had its way. The only difference is the time each of them gained entrance. The level of subterfuge, deception and cheat in Nigerian government by the same people in government, has reached the climax that majority even among those who still parades themselves as Nigerians, have entirely lost hope in Nigeria.

Those who have been opportune to travel out of the enclave in search of greener pastures never care to return and in most cases deny being Nigerians, because of the way they are treated either by the government or by Immigration, Police, Army or Customs officials of these foreign countries.

Now you know why this new version of Nigerian pledge composed by an insightful Biafran is making waves. Who would like to continue to be a part of a system where things are always backward? It is generally said by those in government that Nigeria is the giant of Africa, but honestly, she is rather an ugly dwarf of West Africa.

This is noticeable in her environment that is characterized by either epileptic power supply or total blackout while other countries like Benin Republic, Ghana, and even Cameroun are all enjoying uninterrupted power supplies. What then makes her the giant? Of course giant in crime, tyranny, and embezzlement.

The quickest way to become rich in Nigeria is to become a politician where governors will sit on the salaries of the civil servants who have been there long before them, and dictate when, and how their salaries would be paid.   Why do politicians have more pay than civil servants who creates the wealth in Nigeria? With all these anomalies going on in Nigeria for decades, and politicians having the gut to embezzle constituency allocations given to them, tell me why I should not pledge that Nigeria is not my country?

With all these happening around me on daily basis, tell me why I should be loyal and honest? This is simply because Nigeria is not my country. She neither cares nor knows anything about me. Therefore to be a Nigerian is not by force. Let Biafra go now! #Free Nnamdi Kanu. #Biafrexit.
