CLAMPDOWN ON PROTESTERS: Just Like Iranians, Biafrans Want To Also Hear From President Donald Trump

CLAMPDOWN ON PROTESTERS: Just Like Iranians, Biafrans Want To Also Hear From President Donald Trump
Biafrans in solidarity support for Donald Trump

If really there is anything Biafrans globally presently look forward to, it is getting soothing words of encouragement from the Pragmatic President of the United States of America, Mr. Donald John Trump. Assuring words of his awareness concerning the oppression being meted on the Biafran people by the Nigerian Islamic government of Muhammadu Buhari, need be publicly and internationally expressed. President Trump has consistently assured the Iranian protesters that the global community is on the watch pertaining their ordeal. Through the instrumentality of verified twitter handle and facebook page of the President, there are countless numbers of his expressed concern and assurance already given to the protesting Iranian citizens. He maintained that the government and the good people of the United States of America, are certainly on the know about of the brutal clampdown of the Islamic government of Ayatollah Khomeini, the Iranian supreme leader against his own people. In fact, in one of such recent posts, President Donald Trump clearly called on the Iranian government to restore the disconnected internet and social media in the country to enable the world see how Iran is handling it's protesters.

Interviews conducted with Biafrans both within Biafraland and in the diaspora, the people confirmed to Family Writers Press International, their state of expectation. They want to see the US President give them that attention and assurance at equal measure as the Iranians. Recall that since January 2017, the Nigerian Islamic government commenced brutal clampdown on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), just because of their organized peaceful solidarity rally in support of the 45th US President, Donald John Trump, as he was being sworn into office. Part of the desire of the Biafran people to hear from Mr. Trump, is to assuage their curiosity whether he really have regard for their sacrifices and support for his government. He is a man that stands out globally for freedom, justice and equity. He, in his recent posts, gave assurances of the support of the United States to the protesting Iranians. In one of such posts made by Mr. President just recently, two Biafran agitators, Mazi Anyi Kings (a renowned Biafran journalist, editor and publisher with BiafraPost media organization) resident in the United Arab Emirate and Mazi Biafra Obi (a veteran Radio Biafra Broadcaster, journalist and editor), presently residing in the Jewish State of Israel, separately made comments. They demanded that President Trump should also speak out about the plight of Biafrans located in the West African sub-region whose lands are under oppressive occupation by the Nigerian government

In his comments, Mazi Anyi Kings specifically listed all the atrocities being committed by the Nigerian lawless government of the Islamic fundamentalists. He demanded that the US President should also look at the direction of the Biafran people to see their plight. In their reactions to Mazi Anyi Kings' comments, many concerned American citizens greatly showed sympathy over what Biafrans are yet going through just because of their unalloyed support to the first citizen of the United States. On his own comment on the President's post, Mazi Mike Biafra Obi carefully listed out different occasions when Mr. Trump took giant steps on global issues, which really endeared him to Biafrans. Mazi Mike Biafra Obi, pointedly mentioned the acknowledgement of Jerusalem as the eternal religious/political capital city of the Jewish State of Israel. This was followed by brokering peace truce in the Korean peninsula between the South Korean President and his North Korean counterpart. This two  verifiable examples out of many other giant strides undertaken by President Donald Trump, are such that earned him maximum support and solidarity from Biafrans.

In view of these realities, it is incumbent upon the US President to really take it as a matter of responsibility, to assuage the curiosity of the Biafran people. This he can do by openly communicating to them soothing and realisable assurances under his watch, regarding their plight in the Nigerian contraption. Apart from the organized cum sponsored media blackouts on the menace of the Nigerian armed forces perpetrated against Biafrans, it will still interest Mr. President to know that the Iranian protesters have not yet suffered up to ten percent (10%) from Ayatollah Khomeini's regime of what Biafrans have been through under the tyrannical regime and court contempt of Muhammadu Buhari despotic regime in Nigeria. Biafrans are now more ever, awaiting to hear President Donald John Trump make definitive statements in this respect.

BIAFRA: CNN Should Tell The World About Biafrans' Support To President Donald Trump

BIAFRA:  CNN Should Tell The World About Biafrans' Support To President Donald Trump

It is really unfortunate that up till date, a well renowned media organization in the capacity of Cable News Network (CNN), yet exhibits mischievousness in it's reportage and dissemination of information. This height of unethical practice was displayed internationally when this media giant reported the love and the unflinching support Biafrans globally, give to President Donald Trump of the United States of America. It was recently and biasedly reported that such unprecedented support was given by Nigerians. If the so-called Pew Research Center (CNN), could feign ignorance of the true identity of the people that have consistently staked their lives for the USA President since 2016 during and after the presidential election that fetched him victory, to January 2017, then this media organization is really not worth it's onions. The Nigerian Islamic government through it's jihadist police force, army and other sister security agencies killed, maimed and detained hundreds of family members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in Port Harcourt City, Biafraland, for peacefully and justifiably rallying in solidarity with President Donald Trump.

Biafrans have continued to give him support till date for his courageous stance on equity and justice in the world. CNN as a global media organization, cannot in anyway, claim ignorance of the real identity of the people. Unfortunately, it has mischievously, in it's biasness and falsehood, recently referred to these Biafrans as Nigerians, perhaps to justify the huge financial settlements it has so far gained from the corrupt Nigerian Islamic government. Professionally, could the CNN News Editor boldly say that he/she does not know or have the facts that the Nigerian Islamic government detests President Donald Trump because of his insistence that radical Islam and terrorism must be curtailed if not totally crushed in our world?

It is well known globally, that in any slightest upheaval, Nigerians always set American flags and other national symbols, ablaze, to register their hate against whatever the United States of America represents. During the Biafrans' Solidarity Rally for Trump in the month of January 2017, at Port Harcourt, it is still on record that the combined team of well armed Nigerian Army, Police and officials of the Department of Security Services (DSS), confiscated all the US flags at the possession of the rallying Biafrans and brazenly burnt them in broad daylight. This further demonstrated the hatred of Nigerians even in uniform, against President Donald Trump. So Nigerians are given to burning the American flags on several occasions against the interest and values of the American people. The most recent of such dastardly act was when members of Islamic Movement in Nigeria ,burnt American flags in a broad daylight in Abuja, Nigeria, to protest the killing of the Iranian terrorist Army General, Qassem Soleimani by US airstrikes.

If therefore there is any organization that deserves to be corrected for making the ancient people of Biafra as "Nigerians" in their news research delivery and presentation, it should be the obscure PEW RESEARCH CENTER which floated the research work by saying that "Kenyans" and "Nigerians" have more confidence in President Donald Trump. This is because most of these organizations are grossly being misled by Western World Mainstream Media Outlets like CNN, being referred herein for calling the people of Biafra, "Nigerians". It is quite obvious that the Nigerian government is hugely spending on CNN to ensure that news presentations are craftily being made to cover the true identity of Biafrans and as well, to do everything possible to thwart the Biafra restoration struggle through misleading news reportage.

However, it is important to put the record straight here. It is the Biafran people that are forcefully being encaged in the Nigerian contraption, which is under the firm control of Fulani cabals, that support President Donald Trump and that they will continually do until he reciprocates by out rightly telling the Nigerian Islamic government to take off it's hands from the concerns of the people through political independence. It is never Nigerians as it was deceitfully presented through the Pew Research Center and reported in the news bulletin of CNN, that gave and yet giving the US President, his required support. Nigerians, as a matter of fact, do not hide their hatred for President Trump and the American government based on his opposition against Islamic radicalism. CNN should correct that misleading narrative as carried in it's news presentation. It is Biafrans that support President Donald Trump and not Nigerians. It is completely mischievous and against journalistic ethics to float such falsehood.

MUHAMMADU BUHARI’S NEW YEAR (2020) MESSAGE IS AN INSULT TO NIGERIANS

MUHAMMADU BUHARI’S NEW YEAR (2020) MESSAGE IS AN INSULT TO NIGERIANS

“I will be standing down in 2023 and will not be available in future elections. But I am determined to help strengthen the electoral processes both in Nigeria and across the region, where several ECOWAS member nations will go to the polls”. This was part of the new year message from the Nigerian President, General Muhammadu Buhari to Nigerians. Just imagine a new year message from a number one citizen of a country, a new year message from a man who says he believes in democracy, a new year message from a man who claims he believes in the rule of law.

What does this new year message reveal about the character and learning of the Nigerian President?
By their statements and actions, you will certainly know them.
That message from the President of Nigeria shows that he thinks he is doing Nigerians a favour by not seeking a third term in office when the Nigerian Constitution makes it abundantly clear that two terms is the limit. This thinking shows that this man is still imbued with his military mentality.
He thinks he is doing Nigerians a favor by quitting in 2023. He should well know that Nigerians, including the entrapped Biafrans have been victims of his misgovernance since the year 2015.

The traces and indices of your nepotistic, wayward, and incompetent leadership style are enough weights to pull you down. Your lack of all-inclusive leadership and failure to comply with the rule of law are even enough reasons for your government to step down without further delay. You would always be remembered as a President who had little or no regards to court orders and the rule of law. You would be remembered as one who said he belonged to all in English language but translated it in your native/body language to demonstrate both in appointment and sectional favouritism that you really belonged to your Northern Fulani brothers. You would always be remembered as a man who said you would give 70% to those that voted for you and 30% to those that did not vote for you. You would be remembered as a friend of Hitler and Stalin, a man whose agenda was to kill and exterminate Biafrans. A man whose effort was for the total Islamization of Nigeria and Africa at large.

Talking about strengthening electoral processes both within and across the border, is irrelevant because your regime is inexcusably guilty of supervising violently rigged elections in Nigeria. Is that what you want to export to the rest of West Africa? This was a new year message that is out of touch with reality with issues facing the Nigerian people. There is grave insecurity, poor infrastructure, poverty, unemployment, Islamic terrorism, hyper-corruption, relentless killings, tyranny, Fulanization and Islamisation of the indigenous people coupled with your terroristic/vampiric approach to the quest of the Biafran People in realising their nationhood through a United Nations supervised Referendum.

Biafrans particularly should ignore your self-serving message and remain focused on liberating themselves from this fruitless entity called Nigeria.

The Religious Maradonas, The Dirty Politicians And The Gullible Masses

The Religious Maradonas, The Dirty Politicians And The Gullible Masses
Fr. Mbaka and Buhari

By Elochukwu Nicholas Ohagi
For Family Writers Press International.

I have stayed and read yet another prophecy coming from Rev Father Ejike Mbaka, the Catholic Priest from Enugu state, and I made a solemn decision not to keep quiet. Not in a time when supposedly top men of God has started collaborating with the politicians to fool, rubbish, intimidate, dribble and impoverish the masses for their selfish gain.

I know that Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka has sent the Holy Spirit against those that will come after him for the prophecy he delivered. To Father Mbaka I say this, Holy Spirit isn't your personal property. You don't threaten or order the Holy Spirit about. You don't threaten people, at least not people like me with a dealing from God. God doesn't have anything to do with  the untruthful. We don't fear such threats and can't fail to stand tall in truth just because of your move to cow the gullibles.

I have tried to alert the people on the dubious collaboration of the Men of Stomachs masquerading as Men of God with dirty and evil politicians, but our people have continuously failed to listen. Each time, they tell you to judge not, or touch not God's anointed and His prophet do no harm. Who said telling a Pastor or a Priest the TRUTH or correcting him is harming him or judging him? Why have the people decided to live in gullibility, allowing the politicians to continue leading astray Men Of God?
Personally, I have a problem with Karl Max line that accused Religion as the Opium Of the Masses. I rather see ignorance as the biggest culprit here and not religion. In our deepest ignorance, we have encouraged magicians to transform into MEN OF GOD controlling big Churches and aiding the wicked politicians in the subjugation of the people.

In 2015, Rev Father Ejike Mbaka came with a prophecy that Buhari is a God-sent. A Messiah that will wipe the tears of Nigerians. He then started a campaign of calumny against the then sitting President Goodluck Jonathan. He called him a devilish corrupt killer of the Nigeria people. He said Buhari will win. The millions of gullible Christians who will rather believe anything silly simply because it is coming from a man of God believed the stage-managed prophecy. Many gave their support for General Muhammadu Buhari.

All efforts made by people like us to educate the people and avert the impending disaster yielded no fruit. We urged them to embrace history and see that Muhammadu Buhari is simply a rusted antiquity that can only be good for a museum, but they chose to listen to Pastors and Priests who have sold their consciences over monetary gains. From Lagos, Kaduna to Enugu, prophecies were being dished out in favor of APC. Finally, the massive rigging of APC was seen by majority of gullible Christians as a prophecy that came to fulfillment. They refused to see the real game going on behind their back, between APC and those they revered as Men Of God. At last, Buhari won, not because God wanted it; He won because the top men of God both in Catholic and Pentecostal denominations played a mind game on Nigerians. The gullibility of Nigerians simply complimented their rigging.

Today, the coming of APC has appeared terribly worse than PDP's 16years. Thousands of people have died, not just in the hands of Boko Haram terrorists alone, but also in the hands of Nigeria military and police. Under APC, IPOB peaceful protesters were killed. More than 300 Shiite Muslims were murdered in one night by Nigeria military. Under APC, Nigeria Air force have bombed IDP camps killing thousands of Nigerians. Fulani Herdsmen have been empowered by the Federal government and they have been killing and sacking villages. From herdsmen, they transformed into Bandits and kept killing and kidnapping. Millions of Nigerians also lost their jobs and businesses because of the useless economic policies of APC government. Hunger became the lots of Nigerians while the politicians kept donating to these end-time pastors.

While these were happening, non of those stomach selfish pastors that saw a Messiah in Buhari ever complained or condemned the atrocities perpetrated by APC government. Rev Fr Ejike mbaka lost his voice. He no more see evil nor hear evil. Fulani herdsmen even went to Enugu State, killed a Catholic Seminarian and priest, yet the 2014/15 outspoken priest only uttered a deafening silence. We are no fools and not all of us are gullible.

Today, 2020, he is back with yet another prophecy. APC will takeover Imo, he foretold in his New Year Message.

I am no PDP member, neither am I a fan of Governor Ihedioha, but as an activist and indigene of Imo state, I know that APC as a party is abhorred by many Ndi Imo. So tell me from where is this prophecy coming from? Has God started condoning rigging, lies and evil? The Truth is that there is no prophecy from God other than a collaboration between Fr Mbaka, APC candidate Hope Uzodimma, and APC Federal government. But even if God revealed to a man of God about an evil about to happen, isn't it proper the man of God call for prayers against it. Has APC not proven to be evil?

These collaborators are once again working on the gullible ignorant minds of the people. The APC government has already mapped out plans on how to take over Imo state through the Court. Probably, they will cancel the election through the Court and order a rerun, which no matter what you do, APC will go on to win. Or more still they will persuade Ihedioha to join APC. This is the plan which they are about to hatch using a Catholic priest. They know Imo state is mainly Catholics, hence the use of a Catholic priest. If it were to be in Lagos, there will be a Pentecostal Pastor to be used. I envisage these greedy men trying to destabilize Imo State. Gov Ihedioha might not be the best, but he didn't start badly. The question is why is a Catholic Priest aiding politicians to destabilize Imo State?

The collaboration between men of God and dirty politicians didn't start today. Many of these top men of God are working against the people. Most of these prophecies are given to them by politicians who will in turn send a journalist to carry it. Most of these pastors are conduit pipes from which many politicians launder money.

This is why I must encourage the people to sit up against these men of stomach. Shun ignorance and embrace reason. This is the same game they play to stop the freedom of the people of God. A word is enough for the wise.

DEATH TO AMERICA, DEATH TO ISRAEL: NIGERIAN RADICAL ISLAMISTS CHANT

DEATH TO AMERICA, DEATH TO ISRAEL: NIGERIAN RADICAL ISLAMISTS CHANT

Radical Islamic faithfuls (Muslims) in Nigeria, freely took to the major streets in Abuja, Nigeria's capital city, publicly chanting "Death To America", "Death To Israel". This happened in the wake of the death of General Qassem Soleimani, the Iranian frontline army commander, killed recently by the United States Military in Iraq.

The Nigerian Muslims who gathered in their numbers, were protesting unintimidated and unhindered neither by the Nigerian Police Force nor the Army quite contrary to what normally obtains when Biafrans match out in relatively peaceful protests/rallies.

Recall that on January 2017 in a solidarity election victory rally and prior to the inauguration in office of Mr. Donald John Trump as the 45th President of the United States of America in Port Harcourt (Igweocha) in Biafraland, the same Nigerian government brazenly rolled out armored tanks with a detachment of fully armed soldiers into the streets. Biafrans were arrested, maimed and slaughtered during that peaceful event. This is why Biafrans are agitating for the restoration of the sovereign nation of Biafra. This is why United Nations, the United States of America amongst others, must dutifully give assistance to the restoration of an independent Biafran homeland because Nigeria was forced on all of us by Britain for their economic benefits hence nobody is a Nigerian.

Here in Nigeria, the Muslims will not protest the unjust killing of Biafrans by the Nigerian security forces, they will not protest the persistent killing of innocent indigenous land owners by the Fulani killer herdsmen but here they are, under security protection, protesting and setting ablaze, American flags for what happened in far away Iraq. This just serves as one of the typical examples showing that Biafrans are not and can never be the same with this people, much more cohabiting with them who thrive in terrorism.

Britain is just doing all she could to forcefully keep the so-called unity of Nigeria, basically for her economic gains and not because of the well-being of the suffering masses.
BIAFRA must definitely come; our agitations for the restoration of Biafra will never stop until Biafra is restored

Today we are peaceful and nobody seems to hear and listen to us, someday, very soon we shall abandon peaceful approach and Africa and the world will understand that technology originated from us.   Time shall always tell.

Editorial: Herdsmen Killings: Cows, More Valuable Than Humans In Nigeria

By Chukwuemeka Chimerue, Editor-in-Chief, The Biafra Times

July 8, 2018

In what clearly appears like a well-spelt out threat and/or dilemma to the Nigerian citizens saying: “Your Land or your Blood,” the office of the number one citizen of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari last Wednesday, urged the Christian-majority indigenous farmers to surrender their ancestral lands lest they die at the hands of the nomadic Muslim-Fulani terrorists accused of genocide over cattle grazing territory and resources. Unfortunately, this was shamelessly stated in bold yet decadent mannerisms which entails that, “We (the government) can’t save you till you surrender your lands to killer herdsmen.”

“There is no doubt that the sole purpose of these attacks is aimed at ethnic cleansing, land grabbing and forceful ejection of the Christian natives from their ancestral lands and heritage,” Nigerian church denominational heads and the prominent Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) declared at the end of last month, referring to the Fulani assaults that have killed thousands so far this year.

While some human rights and analysts have denounced the killing of farmers by the Fulani as “genocide,” Femi Adesina, a special adviser and senior assistant on media to Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, argued that relinquishing lands to the Fulani killers for ranching is better than dying.

Adesina urged the farmers to allow the government of President Buhari, who is ethnically Fulani, to build ranches for the so-called herdsmen who analysts like Faith McDonnell from the Institute on Religion and Democracy (IRD) have deemed to be jihadists or at very least, just terrorists.

READ ALSO: Herdsmen Killings: Ohanaeze blows alarm over impending attacks on Enugu communities

Asked about the indigenous farmers’ attachment to their ancestral land, Adesina reportedly responded thus:

“In Plateau state, where we had the recent orgy of killings [by the Fulani], the government has offered land for ranches and I tell you that some people are interested in this thing not being resolved. You can only have ancestral attachment when you are alive. If you are talking about ancestral attachment when you are dead, how does the attachment matter?

“Where you have land, and you can do something, please do for peace, what will the land be used for if those who own it are dead at the end of the day?”

Also lending its voice to the nationwide condemnation of the recent spate of killings by herdsmen in Nigeria, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, has in strong terms, condemned the incessant killings of farmers and citizens of the country.

PFN which berated the insensitivity of the government to the killings and its failure and/or deliberate delay in bringing the perpetrators to justice, called on President Buhari to be more committed to the safety of lives and property of Nigerians, adding that any government that cannot protect its people does not deserve to remain in office.

PFN said, “President Muhammadu Buhari should immediately bring the mindless killings going on in the country to a halt because Nigerians’ lives, whether Christians or Moslems are very important. The perpetrators of these dastardly acts must be fished out and punished.

“Never in the history of Nigeria have the lives of Nigerians been so cheap. Today, people in any guise can kill with impunity and get away with it. Hundreds of people are being slaughtered at a regular interval and the criminal elements seem not to be brought to justice.
“There is need for our government and security forces to be proactive instead of reactionary. They should learn to be on top of the situation by acting before the criminals' strike. Besides, there is need for an urgent review of the nation’s security apparatus so as to make it more effective.

“How can we be campaigning and singing about 2019 general election in the country when the nation is on fire with several innocent Nigerians being killed on a daily basis?”

In Plateau, Fulani terrorists armed with machetes and guns massacred up to 300 people across nearly a dozen predominantly Christian villages on June 23 and 24.

Critics of Fulani President Buhari, like the CAN group, have accused the leader of downplaying and even condoning the attacks by the Muslim group.

CAN reports that no one has yet been arrested for the carnage in Plateau, noting: “Unfortunately, no armed herdsmen has ever been arrested for prosecution even when they are caught in the act.”

Referring to the proposal from the president’s office for farmers to accommodate the Fulani on their land, prominent Nigerian Christians said in a statement on June 29:
“The attempt by the federal government to create cattle ranches across the country for the murderous herdsmen against the people’s resistance is an open call to anarchy by the government, indicating that there might be other ulterior motives (like taking over the inhabitants’ ancestral farming land) for the call to establish these ranches with public funds which ordinarily should have been private businesses by the cattle owners.”

Southern Nigeria is home to a Christian-majority population while the northern part is predominantly Muslims. Christian leaders have urged followers of Christ to defend themselves rather than relying on the government for protection.

For years now, herdsmen from the nomadic Fulani group have attacked settled farmers who are mostly Christians as they move south in search of grazing for their cattle.

Although disputes between the Fulani and settled farming communities are largely rooted in arguments over territory, some of the attacks also carry religious overtones.

The dispute over land and other natural resources have pitted Muslim herders against Christian farming communities accused of instigating the deadly tensions by stealing cattle and sometimes, alleged herdsmen killings.
Pro-Christian organizations reject the “farmers/herdsmen clash” narrative pushed by Fulani-linked groups and some media outlets, arguing that the so-called “herdsmen” are murderous terrorists seeking to push the settled farmers out of their homeland. They have also clarified that there was no form of 'clash' between the farmers and herders as the latter invades the host communities of the former with lethal and sophisticated weapons to drive away unarmed and defenseless Christian farmers and families from their ancestral homelands.

Estimates of the number of farmers who have been killed by Fulani terrorists so far this year vary between 1,750 and 6,000, including women and children.

Currently, the Fulani “jihadists” are deadlier than the U.S-designated terrorist group, Boko Haram while the former was earlier ranked the fourth deadliest terrorist group in the world.

However, ironically, in spite of the numerous killings orchestrated by these herdsmen, the Nigerian government which has done little or nothing to halt the attacks, appears to be encouraging them the more by seeking out means to empower them through loans and allocation of inherited lands of indigenous peoples in the country.

It is pertinent to note that while seeking to grab lands from their owners, the government appears to have forgotten or is deliberately ignoring the fact that cattle rearing and nomadism is a private business venture and not government liability.
Despite numerous calls by well-meaning Nigerian citizens to the government to proscribe and designate as terrorists, these killer herdsmen, it is disheartening and shocking that the government rather than curbing their excesses, is seen going extra miles to pamper these nomadic killers. No wonder the senseless killings has persisted so far and this has become a source of worry to many inhabitants of this country.

We are, therefore, left with no other alternative but to conclude that there is definitely something in the offing not clear to many Nigerians. Pray! What is that thing that is more important than human lives?

Who has been prosecuted for the mindless killings of innocent lives in Benue, Kaduna, Plateau and some other parts of the country? If I may ask; who has been sent to jail? As a matter of fact, which of the Boko Haram insurgents has been prosecuted? Is this government saying it does not know the masterminds of the dastardly acts?

Nigerian Christians have suffered too much. They have been killed; they have been brutalised; they have been denied their basic rights.

In recent times, many notable Nigerians have asked for the restructuring of this nation. Many are agitating for the re-negotiation of the entity called Nigeria, some have clamoured for a referendum. Yet, the government have vehemently refused to listen and engage constructively with the agitators and look at ways of allaying their fears and ending this scourge that has bedevilled the Nigerian state once and for all.

An Exposition Between Biafra As Our Identity/Nation And The Niger Delta As A Mere Geographical Expression; Preserving The Very Fabric That Binds Us Together As A People

By Chukwuemeka Chimerue, Chief Editor | The Biafra Times

June 9, 2018

History teaches us that Britain established a colonial protectorate over the Bight of Biafra in June 30, 1849, under the authority of the British Consuls of the Bight of Benin which its protectorate was established in February 1, 1852. On August 6, 1861, both the protectorates which were neighbours under its own separate British consuls respectively, were merged to form what was called the “United Bight of Benin and Biafra Protectorate.”

From July 16, 1884, this merged into the British Protectorate over Brass, Bonny, Opobo, Aboh and Old Calabar(excluding Lagos Colony), which was confirmed on June 5, 1885, and named “Oil Rivers Protectorate,” where in August 1891, an effective consular administration was established, headed by a Consul general. These areas would in different steps merge further via the May 12, 1893 “Niger Coast Protectorate,” which on January 1, 1900, was renamed “Southern Nigeria Protectorate, SNP” into which on February 16, 1906, Lagos was incorporated. On February 28, 1906, SNP was made into the Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria, and since January 1, 1914, it became part of Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria.

From the above historical illustration, it is unambiguous that the Bight of Biafra was the oldest, then the Bight of Benin came, followed by the Protectorate of the Niger Coast before its final integration with Lagos and the Western Protectorates to form the single Southern Protectorate. These protectorates were all established from a well-organized last “West African Dynasties” called the “Aro-Confederacy.”

Taking inferences from historical teachings, the Aro-Confederacy (1690–1902) was a political union orchestrated by the Aro people, Igbo sub-group, centered in Arochukwu in present-day southeastern Nigeria. Their influence and presence was all over Eastern Nigeria, lower Middle Belt, and parts of present-day Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea during the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Arochukwu Kingdom was an economic, political, and an oracular center as it was home of the powerful Ibini Ukpabi oracle, High Priests, the Aro King Eze Aro, and central council (Okpankpo). The first king, Eze Aro 1 Osim Nnubia of the Aro Confederation hailed from Okonyong, present day Calabar, Cross-rivers state.

Aro-Confederacy was carved out from Ibom Kingdom. It was formed following a decree from Calabar (which was originally called Akwa-Akpa and renamed Calabar by the Portuguese in the 15th Century) ordering the Akpa-Forces to liberate and grant Right of Occupancy to those now called Igbos from the Ibibios whom were their Lords. Thus, ARO-Chukwu was carved out of Ibom Kingdom and a Confederation was decreed after the collapse of Ibom and thus, the administration of Aro-Confederation from Aro-Chukwu.

It was from the domiciliation of slaves by the Portuguese in an Island part of Equatorial Guinea originally called “Fernandopo or Panya” which was later called “BIA-FRA,” that the term “Bight of Biafra” came into existence.

Other than Akwa-Akpa (later renamed Calabar) the Eweka dynasty(1180-1246) and Ewuare (1440-1473) which expanded its City States to an Empire that was annexed by the British in 1897 and sent Oba Ovonramwen into exile in Calabar, were only internationally recognized pre-colonial Kingdoms.

From the above historical statements, it is glaring and evident that Biafra is not Igbo. Biafra is the name the Portuguese used to refer to the present Cross-River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, some parts of Edo, Delta and Rivers States of Nigeria; South East Cameroon, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Search for the maps drawn by cartographers in the 15th Century. Early modern maps of Africa from the 15th–19th centuries, drawn by European cartographers from accounts written by explorers and travellers, revealed some information about Biafra which today covers the old Eastern region in Nigeria and southern part of Cameroon and which its name was changed from Bight of Biafra, to Bight of Bonny by the Nigerian government in the 1970s through the National Assembly as a result of the sad memories of the Nigeria-Biafra war.

However, after the gruesome fratricidal war in which millions of Biafrans were mindlessly massacred and starved to death, many policies and/or strategies was invented by the Nigerian government under the tutelage of the British colonists to alienate our coastal brothers in the riverine areas of Biafra from those of their hinterland counterpart such that they completely deny having any ties with Biafra or Igbo-speaking tribe of Biafrans in today’s Southeastern region of Nigeria. Some of them who have been so misinformed about their true identity and the roles their forebears played during the war, continued to ridicule themselves knowing or unknowingly that the Niger Delta Republic as declared by Jasper Adaka Boko is their true identity and that they have no ties with the Igbo-Biafrans.

The way and manner that the Igbos have been so abused and denigrated by our supposed brothers, compatriots and neighbours is really heartbreaking. What manner of deep seethed hatred is this? What have the Igbos done to the people of the riverine enclave? What is their crime that some of you do not hesitate to pass uncomplimentary and debasing remarks on the Igbos? Why this level of hatred against the best from our part of the country and unarguably the best from the country as a whole? Do you seek their blood to appease your gross misadventure with stupidity?

We all, especially those in the Eastern part of Nigeria must understand that we are all admixture of Igbos; there’s Igbo in everyone of us, despite whichever tribe we belong to. The entire Southeastern parts of Nigeria today referred to as "IGBO" is the admixture of other tribes across the region. Idoma, Ibibio, Efiks, Ijaw, etc, are all which culminates to IGBO.

To further buttress my point, in the Igbos of Abia and Ebonyi States of today, you can clearly find the Efiks, Ibibios, Anangs, and the Bantus of Cross-River State making up a reasonable proportion of their tribes, while also in Anambra and Enugu States, you will find the Edos, Idomas, Igalas, etc, the same thing with Imo State where you can find the Ikwerres, and Ijaws, and slightly Edos.

Coming to the Igala people, they share boundary with the Igbo people at the south, Idoma at the east, Benins at the west and Ebira people at the north.

The Igala people which its 55 percent population inhabits Kogi state and are also found in Anambra west are mostly Mmiata Anam, Umuoba-Abegbu Anam, Umuenwelum Anam, Oroma-Etiti, Umueze Anam, Umudora Anam, Umuikwu Anam, Inoma-Akator, Nzam, Igbedor and Iyiora Anam, all from the family of Ogbe, the descendants of General Ajida, a notable warrior of Idah origin(Idah is traditional headquarters of Igala kingdom). Ajida is the father of field marshal Ogbe who was married to Iyida.

But unfortunately, some of our people who has failed to realize that the name “Niger Delta,” is a mere geographical expression and not a people’s identity nor a country would want you to tender paper documents before they accept that fact. Just like our local gin "Ogogoro" is referred to as "Illicit Gin" while the names like MacDowell, Hennessey, etc, which are mere derivatives are applauded and preferred. Indeed, “Orients and Occidents” are chalklines drawn before our eyes to mock our timidity. It is said that the Ignorant wears his ignorance like a gold chain and displays it with pride believing it to be gold chain.

I love the terms Isaac Adaka Boro used in his definition of his proposed Niger Delta Republic. He said, “strictly we shall consider Niger Delta, to be the areas occupied by the Ijaws...” Spanning through the BIGHT OF BIAFRA. Isaac Adaka Boro was simply giving a landmark description of his proposed Niger Delta Republic which he intended to carve out from the old Eastern region of which the Ijaw League had been formed to agitate against their perceived Igbo domination just like similar agitation which brought about the creation of Mid-Western States (later Delta and Edo) from the Western region because of their perceived dominance of the Yorubas against other tribes within it.

This does not mean in anyway that Boro created the word “NIGER DELTA” which is a geographic landmark expression that have existed as far back as the words were invented in the dictionary. The 18th Century had the city of Calabar serving as the “COAST of the NIGER PROTECTORATE,” from whence the ROYAL NIGER COMPANY was formed... So, NIGER & DELTA & REPUBLIC are separates words existing respectively but coined by socioeconomic and political intents to express diverse meanings.

Some who are misguided in their line of thoughts will say that their own version of Niger Delta was a country, yet they can’t prove this. In what year was their so-called country declared? What evidences of its existence do they have in currency notes, government and institutions such as the military, police, the judiciary, a legislature; do they have evidences of these in pictures and in videos? What nations of the world recognized their nationhood and as such had diplomatic relations with them? Please can they bring all these to bear to back their submissions with hard undisputable facts. Then, I will give them a minute before I flood everywhere with evidences of the nationhood of Biafra which was very inclusive of all groups of the geographical Niger Delta minus ethnic groups from Kogi, Ondo and Edo states who were clearly not captured in the territory referred to as Biafra of 1967.

However, the issue here is not about Biafra superseding anyone or anything because we all are “Biafrans” by blood, association, history, challenges and creed. The word Biafra was never associated with secession until necessity mandated that its proponents found a tool with which to inspire, rally round and give its people an identity in the face of the mindless genocide meted out to them all irrespective of ethnicity. The Calabars would attest to this that the invasion of the old Eastern region started from their land at Ogoja before the invasion of Obollo-Afor, Asaba, Onitsha and Port Harcourt(formerly known as Igweocha). So we all are victims of a common history of genocide, oppression and seclusion which has still culminated into the rape been carried out on the resources our coastal States that produce crude oil.

Some misguided fellows who has got deep seated hatred for their Igbo brothers and whom Niger Delta means anything more to him than oil, will even today, tell you that they are Niger Deltans by origin while being ignorant to the fact that the word Niger Delta is not an ethnic group but more or less a description for ethnic groups living within the estuaries, lakes, deltas, river banks and tributaries of the great River Niger which clearly cuts across Kogi State to the North, Rivers State to the far South, Ebonyi and Cross-River to the far East and Edo/Ondo to the Western axis. Therefore, how can one in the riverine area opine that the Igbos are their neighbours. Igbos are not your neighbours but your brothers. Is one not being divisive and lavishing in self-deceit if he calls an Abia man who is just by his doorstep in Akwa Ibom, a neighbour, only for him to call a man far away in Edo and Delta his brothers? If brotherhood is to be considered by proximity in habitation, who amongst these would you rationally say are your brothers? Then, if culture and inter-marriages are to be considered too, who amongst them is to be regarded as your brother and who is to be regarded as your neighbour? Can they sincerely stop immolating us needlessly?

The act of prostitution is generally associated with selling one’s body for money, but in my understanding, that is the least significant example of the prostitute archetype. The Prostitute thrives most bountifully in subtle ways and in the ordinary, everyday circumstances. It comes into play most clearly when our survival is threatened. Its core issue is how much you are willing to sell yourself - your morals, your integrity, your intellect, your word, your body, or your soul - for the sake of physical security. The Prostitute archetype also dramatically embodies and tests the power of faith. If you have faith, no one can buy you. You know that you can take care of yourself and also the Divine is looking out for you. Without faith, however, you will eventually meet the price you cannot turn down.

How then can we beat this evil if we allowed shallow-minded ideologies to rip us apart? The more reason why educational series such as this is much-needed. Some knows but are not willing to imbibe it because they hold onto the lies in their heads and the prejudices in their hearts. It is these ones that are most dangerous to our existence as a people and as such we must continuously promote our ideology until there is no more room for them to keep trying to break our resolve to stand together as one by repeatedly infusing bitterness at every given chance.

There are persons amongst us whose toxic mindsets are more poisonous than the venom from the ones outside. They are the ones we are to be worried about. We need to thinker on how to plug this weak link which is the reason why we have been porous as a people. I remember writing one time that ignorance is our biggest enemy, it is in fact, a disease more dealdly than HIV/AIDS and Ebola.

They keep referring to Niger Delta as if it’s not same as Biafra from the territorial point of view. The only difference is that Niger Delta is a geographical reality with well-defined borders while Biafra is an ideology borne out of necessity and the need for the survival of our people. The land mass identified as Biafra is within the geographical boundaries of the Niger Delta and as such makes Biafra a component of Niger Delta and vice versa. Biafra needs not to be laid to rest in the minds of our people who bore the brunt of that bitter genocidal war because from that we can together spice-up an added identity and ideology which far outweighs the shortfalls of our past glories and mistakes.

Talking about the oil that has since been our burden, a curse rather than a blessing and the most employed tool of division amongst us as a people, I wish that we as a people would modify the admonition in this post and use it in taking our eyes and hopes away from crude oil to human capital development in Niger Delta. I pray that the oil fanatics would learn a lesson or two from Enugu state which was once the beehive of solid mineral exploration and the center of British mineral expedition in old Eastern Nigeria. Today, Enugu is a shadow of itself because coal is no longer a feasible source of fossil fuel. Shale gas, renewable fuel, bio-fuel and solar energy are fast becoming mainstream power/energy drivers and researches to further expand and harness their potentials are growing exponentially. It is only a matter of a few years from now and we would witness a global swift turn-around from heavy dependency on petroleum.

Atimes, I would sit back to think about what would the Niger Delta look like without crude oil? Would there be any word such as “Niger Delta?” Would it have been a political ticket in the hands of our cousins from the coastal habitations in bargaining lots and favours at the center? Would it have been a ground for the ethnic nationalities domiciled within its boundaries to malign and reject one of her own and call her all manner of names simply because they imagined a fantasy like "domination" from her offspring? Would they have depended on this very much derided brother of theirs who despite his willingness to stand with them when it matters, but have in return gotten the worst form of rejection from these cousins of his? I sincerely pray for the Lord of the Earth to dry up the oil wells if that is all it would take to bring a rude awakening and that our cousins be made to face the reality of tomorrow.

Again, why do we kill ourselves over names and identities which are merely expressive and situational? Why divide us over mere expressions? We have a common ancestor. My late grandfather told me about our ties with “Ndi mba mmili” meaning the riverine communities of the geographical Niger Delta and how we spread further Northward because of the Slave expedition of the Portuguese and the Aros. My community in Anambra State is on the bank of River Niger and we are very close to our brothers from Asaba and nothing separates us in culture or language or ancestry except the fact that the river crosses between us! So, will one tell me that simply because I am on the other side of the river that I am not from the "Niger Delta" but my brother from Asaba is simply because he is from Delta State?

From the deliberations so far, it is obvious that the Niger Delta region cannot progress if we keep seeing reasons for division amongst ourselves. Developments and progress can only be achieved in unity, that is the way God Almighty has destined our people. We have lived so many years apart and seeing only the diversity in each other which has taken us nowhere but in great suffering and drastic poverty even in the midst of all the resources and intelligence we claim to have. There are so many similarities in our cultures as a people and also amongst our brothers and sisters in the Middle Belt. We should all come together and make genuine efforts towards unity, living no one behind. All our deliberations should be towards understanding how to achieve this purpose and how to peacefully implement ideologies that will unify us and lead to the progress of our people.

We all have a great task of educating, informing, re-orientating and re-programming the minds of our riverine brothers, those whose hearts have been biased by the lies and sentiments of the older generation. We cannot afford to be disunited at this point in time of our existence. A very big applause goes to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu whose great teachings on Radio Biafra has greatly bridged the divide which has been a cankerworm in the midsts of our riverine and upland Biafran brothers. The sooner we the informed and consciously liberated minds in our land stood up to champion this ideology, the sooner we would extinguish all divisive voices which have held onto unrealistic sectional and clannish ideologies that divide us even further apart. Our own people are misguided and lost in their own ignorance masked as knowledge. When knowledge becomes counter-productive, ignorance is bliss. For Water and Sugar to mix and form a perfect solution, both have got to sacrifice the part that makes them what they are. Water has got to sacrifice its tastelessness and Sugar has got to sacrifice her solid nature so that both can mix and form a solution of “Sweet-Water”. Unite my people and say no to division and sectional allegiances.

Finally, looking at the state of the contraption called Nigeria, it is said that only the truth saves a nation and not lies and propaganda, resulting from blind partisan politics or financial inducement. This is the type of ideology driving those who see Nigeria as their real estate; those with the mentality of born to rule and advocates of unity by force.

It is common knowledge that Britain colonised Nigeria and abolished slavery. Have we asked ourselves why they abolished slavery? The same Britain that massacred the people of Scotland in the 12th and 13th century when they demanded independence is now the same British that conducted referendum for the Scottish in 2014 when they made same demand. Have we asked ourselves the reasons why? The answers are in history and knowledge about the nature of man.

Now, to juxtapose it with the Nigerian approach till this day, it is completely obsolete as you cannot apply force to get different nations to co-exist. If you do, instead of moving forward, such a union shall be retrogressive. All agitations, from Boko Haram to Shia Muslim group, Niger Delta militancy, IPOB agitation for the restoration of Biafra Republic, etc, are as a result of poor government approach to solving social crisis and ideological agitations.

The brains in government today and their model cannot solve our problems. It is however, sad that some acclaimed leaders are already thinking and approaching issues in this same obsolete manner. They still want to force people to unite and co-exist naturally without setting out the standards. I wonder why anyone would continue to insult our sensibilities by joining issues with them and their infantile pettiforging meanderings as they have proved again and again that they are not within the radar of rational reasoning.

…Nigeria, practising democracy but using the ingredients of militarization

By Chukwuemeka Chimerue, Chief Editor, The Biafra Times

April 18, 2018

According to available reports, scores of members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN, otherwise known as Shiites, were injured on Monday in Abuja during a clash with policemen at the Maitama area of the city.

It was gathered that the police arrested about 115 Shiite members who were protesting against the continued incarceration of their leader, Shiek Ibrahim El-Zakzaky by the Federal Government.

It was further gathered that as the protesters made way to relay their complaints and grievances at the National Human Rights Commission, the police swooped on them, firing teargas canisters to break up the protest. The Shiite members in turn, threw stones at the policemen, injuring about 22 of the Force men, damaging many parked vehicles and injuring passersby and motorists.

In the escalation of the scenario that ensued afterwards, the cops opened live fire at the protesters, hitting the building of the Nigerian Communication Commission and other offices in the vicinity. The security operatives also scalded the mob with hot water from their cannon trunk.

Recall that El-Zakzaky was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force and being kept in detention by the Department of State Services, DSS, since December 2015 despite court ruling ordering for his release in December 2016; the sole reason hundreds of Shiites were on the street, protesting and demanding for his release.

One wonders at what point did the Nigerian State got to this level that we have a confrontation coming from Shiite members, throwing stones to police officers and the officers in return, dispersing the protesters with teargas, live bullets and water cannons.

For the Shiite members, the Constitution guarantees them the right to freedom of expression, association and assembly. They absolutely have the right to protest just like every other person or group and according to the law, no one should deprive or take that away from them. The only thing that is clear here is that Section 45 of the Constitution frowns against protests which possess the strenght to obstruct public security, breach of public peace or violence.

However, as can be seen in the evidential videos and pictures of the protest available online, the violence can be said to be orchestrated or caused by the rude manner members of the Nigerian police intervened during the protest. The police arrived the scene of their procession, trying to break them which got them irritated and caused the peaceful procession to go violent.

Not forgetting that already there is an aggression and grouse harboured by the protesters, the police proceeded to handle them in a very poor and despicable manner. The police officers who engaged the Shiites, lacks proper training on protest management and best practices of their counterparts in the civilised world on handling of protesters, hence, we witnessed the engagement of costly activities that caused casualties as a result of the poor handling of the protesters by the police.

Like earlier stated, they should be training on how to conduct and interact with people who are protesting. Of course, the era of teargassing people should be over by now; hot water cannons should rather be introduced. Apart from the fact that it is not good for one’s health, teargas is an irritant that encourages and emboldens people to be on the defense and may do things that are detrimental to public lives and properties.

It was the introduction of tear gas that made the protest more violent to the extent that they began throwing stones which torched on not only the security personnel but innocent people and public properties around. The police in trying to find a way to manage the situation should have peacefully engaged with the protesters by safe guiding them and ensuring that other people go about their normal businesses and not interrupting them or trying to break up the protest. Nigerian security personnel should stop the increasing habit of violent confrontation or engagement with peaceful protesters in the country.

It has been severally noted that the Nigerian security operatives, in the course of discharging their duties, further creates more security challenges and breakdown of law and order in the country which is an illegality. For crying out loud, protests are one of the rudimentary of democracy in every sane society and it is not only our constitutional right but an inalienable right of every citizen to engage in protests so long as you operate within the ambit of the law. One wonders why the Nigerian situation is different from what is obtainable in every country of the world. We have witnessed uncountable scenarios where the Nigerian security personnel, particularly the police and army in their illegality, descend or gun down anti-government protesters while they shield and provide adequate security for pro-government protesters.

But looking at the remote cause of what brought about the situation, it is the fact that El-Zakzaky was granted bail by a Federal High Court since December 2016 and up till this moment, he is yet to be released and this is a replay of history. Each time Gen. Muhammadu Buhari assumes the leadership of this country, Nigeria, the case is always like that.

Drawing inference from history, as a military head of state, Buhari set up a tribunal that tried perceived corrupt individuals such as Baba Ajasin who was tried three times but nothing indicting or incriminating was found on him, yet Buhari refused to release him. Today, he is back as a civilian president, the same scenario is playing out. The situation is not peculiar to El-Zakzaky, even the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki was granted bail by a domestic court and also the West African(ECOWAS) court. But until this moment, he has not been released and that is not democracy; it is an illegality and a brutal affront to the rule of law and justice in this country.

Similarly, in this current administration, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu was arrested by DSS operatives and granted an unconditional bail on two separate occasions which were flouted by Buhari’s government until the third but very strict bail conditions was handed down to him. Of course, he was later released by the government but where is he now? The president, it is certain to everyone including toddlers, hardly obeys court orders that goes contrary to his favour or expectations neither does he have the slightest regard for the rule of law nor upholds tenets of democracy.

The government detention facility where El-Zakzaky is currently being held in captivity is an agency under the Executive arm of government which President Buhari oversees. Was it not the agency of the government which the Nigerian military represents that violently invaded the hometown and residence of Nnamdi Kanu after the court granted him bail and since then no one has heard or seen him? Whether the government released him before and now invaded his apartment, we are no longer seeing or hearing him. It is the same executive arm of government which Buhari represents should be hold responsible for his whereabouts and not his lawyers or sureties or anybody for that matter.

Why is Dasuki still in police custody which is under the Executive? These and more are questions we should be asking because we cannot say we are practising democracy yet we are using the ingredients of the military and that was the major condition that provoked the Shiites and police clash situation today. If El-Zakzaky was been released, does it mean that the constituted court and the judge that granted him bail, does not know what they are doing? A situation that somebody was been granted bail by the judicial system and another arm of government is saying 'No' that they would not obey such order is not only an anomaly but also embarrassing. That is the situation we have been confronted with under this government and this has been dwindling the nascent democratic growth of the country.

Therefore, the replay of history that is peculiar with the leadership style of President Muhammadu Buhari has been in course all these while he is in power. Once a court grants bail to an individual, the government is free to appeal the judgement but from my research, I have not seen where the federal government appealed against the ruling for the embattled Shiite leader to be released. Instead, they contine to keep him in their custody against the ruling of the court. Which sane country of the world does that? The government has failed to explain on what grounds they are still holding the Muslim cleric and when his people came out to demonstrate and plead for his release, the police descended on them. Does the government intends to keep him in detention indefinitely until the end of its tenure? Situations like this promotes lawlessness and corruption. Things are not done this way in developed countries. Two wrongs as they say, can never make a right. The government brazenly behaves in a wrong way that is condemnable and then expects her citizens to behave rightly. If El-Zakzaky was set free as ordered by the court, nobody would have come out to protest.

Going back to the Shiites’ protest on Monday, it was not handled in an appropriate manner even when a prior information about the protest was circulated days before hand. The police caused the quagmire that ensued because if they had allowed them to proceed peacefully as they were doing, without trying to break them, the issue of casualties and injury wouldn’t have arise. The injury those twenty two policemen sustained, no matter how minute, should serve as a lesson and deterrent from molesting a group of people protesting next time. The police authority should be up and doing. They are not dealing with a 1962 or 2002 protest. We are in a modern world where best practices of protest managment should be applied. It is important and necessary they look into the history of groups so as to determine the best approach to manage them. If they had been more humane and systematic in their approach and conduct, issues such as this would not have arose.

In conclusion, it is important to remind us that protest is not an offence or a breach to public peace neither does it constitute nuisance nor threatens the peaceful co-existence of a group of people. Every inhabitant or citizen of this country have the right to protest. When Nigeria’s foremost educator, author and social critic, Augustus Tai Solarin was alive, he used to engage on solo protests, putting on his placard and moving around. So long as it does not threaten the peace or hinder people from going about their normal duties, you have the right to protest. It is when you go out of your way and become violent or when the police or other security agencies tries to break you up that it becomes confrontational and violent. We have gone past the era when security personnel treats people like animals. The citizens wants their rights and must express themselves in many ways that is inalienable to them. We hope that this is going to be the last of bloody protest to be recorded in this country.

How Shell devastated our land, caused us misery for 40 years — Rivers monarch, residents reveals

Says we lack potable water supply, good schools and healthcare system
•45,000 barrel of oil is lifted from our land on daily basis, yet we’re still suffering— Ogoriba-led PANDEF fact-finding committee
•Benzene and mercury components of crude oil, a risky health hazard to us— Community leader
•Urges FG not to renew SPDC’s operational licence

By Chukwuemeka Chimerue, Chief Editor, || The Biafra Times

February 18, 2018

RIVERS— The inhabitants of Offoin-Ama and other communities in the oil-rich Kula Kingdom, Akuru-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, have accused the Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, of destroying their lands, causing poverty and instigating conflict among the people in the last 40 years.

The villagers who recently bared their minds in a report made available to a Pan Niger-Delta Forum, PANDEF, fact-finding committee sent to their communities by Chief Edwin Clark, averred that Shell abandoned host communities in their area of operation while urging the federal government to rescind any plan to renew SPDC’s operational license.

They insisted that instead of renewing Shell’s operational license, it should rather be transferred to an indigenous oil firm, Belema, which according to them, has greatly impacted on their communities within its two years of operation of OML 65.

The paramount ruler of Kula Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, King Bourdillon Ekue, maintained that Shell was a curse, rather than a blessing to the people, adding that “Government should not renew its operational licence; rather, it should give opportunity to indigenous companies to operate here.”

Also speaking, a prominent community leader from Offoin-Ama community, High Chief Ibosiya Sukubo, who bemoaned the presence of SPDC in the community, said the company has only rewarded the people with disunity, hardship and poverty, regretting that over 40 years of Shell’s operation in the area, it has not provided basic infrastructures for the people.

According to Sukubo, “SPDC has operated here for over 40 years and there is nothing to show for it. We lack basic amenities. We do not have potable water supply, no good school, no good health facilities.

“Life is practically unbearable in this environment. We know the hazards associated with oil and gas operation; the Benzene components of crude oil, the Mercury it produces and all other chemicals associated with oil and gas exploration.

“Our community also hosts gas injection plant and its booster stations. Offoin-Ama hosts the 6&8" pipeline, delivery link, Eastern gathering line and the Trans Niger-Delta/Nembe trunk pipeline.

“But as vital as these assets situated here both for oil and gas exploration are, the communities around the facility are suffering.

“That was the essence of inviting PANDEF for the verification exercise as mandated by the Federal Government.

“That is why when the companies say they spent millions of dollars on the community, it is not a matter of lip service, it is better the Federal Government and its agencies come and see things for themselves,” he asserted.

The leader of PANDEF fact-finding committee, Elder Timi Kaiser-Wilhelm Ogoriba, noted that they were on a mission based on reported cases of devastation, negligence and alleged plan to renew the lease licence to Shell in Kula community.

Ogoriba noted that the people of the area were suffering poverty, adding that over 45,000 barrels of oil are produced from the land on daily basis.

He said: “The things you have said here are not strange to us, but we appreciate you very much, that we have the likes of you that are leading communities like this.

“The facts are very clear. I would not have come here but because one elder, who is over 90 years and who is championing the cause of Ijaw people, the downtrodden people in our own Niger- Delta, who would have loved to be here personally, but because of some exigencies, decided to send a team.”

He further questioned why the people of the community are still being neglected despite the fact that Kula’s 45,000 barrels per day, translates to N1billion daily.

“Not that you are troublesome people, the facts are very clear. If you are getting about 45,000 barrels from here per day, that translates to about $3.1milion (about N1billion) per day from this community, then, why would you not take care of the people in the community. We will transmit this message to the federal government,” he said.

Biafra!!! Atonement Starts Today Friday 29th at Sundown to Saturday 30th of Sep 2017 at Sundown

BIAFRA DAY OF ATONEMENT AND PRAYER FRIDAY TO SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 30th 2017

Below are the Atonement prayers. You can add yours too, for instance, I will be adding Psalm 35 to my own bible reading as well. The three Cardinal Prayer Points are: (1) Forgiveness, (2) Grace and Wisdom from Chukwu Okike Abiama, (3) Restoration of Biafra and total obliteration
of the enemies of Biafra. Start at 6pm on the 30th and end 6pm on the 1st. Pray for at least 15min for every one hour. Try and fast for at least 12hrs or 24hrs if you can.

Pray for forgiveness of our sins and ask Chukwu Okike Abiama to help us restore Biafra just like he answered for the Israelites, whom we identify with as the true children of Chukwu Okike Abiama. Please as a guide, pray these prayers and others that your inner spirit directs you starting on Friday 29th of September and ending on the Saturday 30th  September evening:

Prayer for forgiveness and total annihilation of the enemies of Biafra:

1. Psalm 51 - A prayer for forgiveness. A psalm by David. When the prophet Nathan came to him.
2. Psalm 21 – Praise for victory. A psalm by David
3. Psalm 31 – A prayer of trust in God. A psalm by David
4. Psalm 71 – An old man’s prayer
5. Psalm 91 – God our protector
6. Psalm 110 – The lord and his chosen king; and
8. psalm 109 - Let his days be few
9. Psalm 137 - How shall we sing the Lord's song
10. Exodus chapter 14 vs 13 to 14.

Let us all pray together. Be merciful to ‘Biafrans’, O Chukwu Okike Abiama, because of your everlasting love. Because of your great mercy wipe out our sins! Our Creator, we have come to you for protection; never let us be defeated! Because you are righteous, help us and rescue (and restore) Biafra. Your word says that whoever goes to the Chukwu Okike Abiama for safety, whoever remains under the aegis of the almighty can say to him “you are our defender and protector.” You are the Creator of Biafra (Chukwu Okike Abiama) and in you we trust. Give us victory and enduring triumph over our enemies. You are the creator of Israelites (Biafra) and in you we trust and shall worship forever! Isee isee isee.

The leaflet Prayer

Chukwu Okike Abiama, Almighty Creator of Biafra and Israel, you are a great and awesome God. You keep your covenant and promise to those who love you and observe your commandments. Chukwu Okike Abiama, righteousness belongs to thee and thee alone. To us and our fathers before us, shame and humiliation has become our portion because we sinned against you. Despite the afflictions you visited upon us, we have not left our wicked ways and the imaginations of our deceitful hearts. Because you are righteous and detest sin, you had to allow us go through suffering as admonishment. In your mercy, love, and kindness, you sent us a leader Nnamdi Kanu to guide us back to you.

Chukwu Okike Abiama, as you prepare to bring your people out of the land of oppression with a mighty hand and make a name for yourself, we pray that you to let your ear be attentive and your eyes open that you may hear the prayer of your children which we pray before you this Atonement season. Chukwu Okike Abiama, we have sinned, we have done wickedly, we have dealt treacherously against thine ordinances and have continued to do so. Let your wrath turn from us for the heathens have killed us enough where you scatthered us. Hear our prayers and our petitions and deliver us for the sake of your name. Give us favor in the sight of Igbo leaders who have betrayed us for their selfish political gains, that the earth may know that you are Okike of Biafra, because we are called by your name.

There is no race on this planet that you love as much as you love us. You made the whole world for our sake, but the heathen have been lording it over us, our inheritance stolen from us. Our land, they have taken over as their possession. Their cattle has inherited our inheritance. Our Father and immortal Redeemer, how long shall the heathens do this to your chosen children?

Chukwu Okike Abiama, our father, we plead your forgiveness, please save us. We do not make this supplication because we deserve your mercy, but for the sake of your great name, have mercy on us. Saving us will be a way to vindicate your name because nations are mocking us and saying that you have abandoned us. Do not look upon those of us still rebelling but remember the promise you made to your servant Eri who was faithful to you. Grant us Biafra so the doubting souls among us will confess that  Biafra is your heavenly kingdom restored to this earth. Chukwu Okike Abiama, give us new heart to do your will.

We know you will heal us. Ebighebi, Ancient of Days, Okike, thank you for giving us a second chance to return and obey your laws and commandments. Biafra shall worship only you. We know you are compassionate, merciful, patient and longsuffering. Thank you for hearing and answering our prayers for we have prayed in your name awesome name Chukwu Okike Abiama....Isee! Iseeee!! Iseeeeeeeeee!!!

Biafra: Northern Conspiracy Behind The Proscription Of IPOB— Biafra Writers' Editor Writes UN, US, UK, France

By Chukwuemeka Chimerue
Editor-in-Chief, Biafra Writers Forum

September 24, 2017

With profound greetings and high regards to Your Excellencies, the President of the ongoing 72nd Session, UNGA, Miroslav Lajčák, the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Theresa May, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, I write to you.

To the UN President in particular who declared the opening of the General Debate of the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly, UNGA, on Tuesday, 19th September 2017, with the focus on the theme, “Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet.” Mr. President, you must be aware that it is almost impossible to attain world peace, making a difference in the lives of ordinary people, prevention and mediation of sustaining peace, consolidating on human rights, as you outlined during your opening remarks, without first rendering justice, fairness and equity to those people of the world it mattered most. The situation in Nigeria today, calls for the application of these your over-arching priorities in sustaining world peace and preserving the fundamental human rights of people around the world.

It is with gravity that I write to inform your Excellencies about the grand conspiracies of groups, elders, youths and governments of the Northern region of Nigeria in the illegal systemic proscription of unarmed and peaceful freedom fighters cum self-determination movement in Nigeria popularly addressed as the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB).

We, in Biafra Writers Forum, having studied the recent moves undertaken by the Nigerian government headed by a northern Muslim/Islamic fanatic, President Muhammadu Buhari who has carried out series of pogrom against the Christian South(Biafrans), has arrived to the conclusion that there is indeed a hatched grand conspiracy to utilise every available apparatus of the Nigerian State, including its international relations and affairs, to wrongly and willfully paint IPOB black and brand them as "terrorists" which its process has began.

Your Excellencies, those who are conversant with the political developments in Nigeria must have conceived the fact that the desperate bid by the Nigerian government to proscribe IPOB and render their legitimate aspirations and agitation illegal, came to a full swing after the Nigerian military under the command of a brutish Islamic Northerner, Tukur Yusuf Buratai, whom in recent times, has been dragged to court by some US lawyers over his high-handedness, extra-judicial killings and gross violation of human rights against Biafra agitators, commenced another round of ethnic cleansing on peaceful and defenseless IPOB civilians in the Southeastern region of the country, precisely in Abia State, of which videos and pictorial evidence has since surfaced online.

Your Excellencies, it is noteworthy to state at this juncture that after perpetrating these unwarranted heinous crimes and extrajudicial executions of innocent IPOB civilians, the Defense Headquarters of the Nigerian army, in a most disgraceful bid to save face and cover-up their dastardly acts against humanity, proclaimed the proscription of IPOB and tagged them "terrorists" even when it does not fall within their purview to make such declarations.

Your Excellencies, it should also be noted that Nigeria's Head of Armed Forces and Defense, are firmly under the command and control of fanatical Islamic Northerners who has used the country's armoury meant to safeguard lives and properties, terrorism and defending the borders, to perpetrate series of war crimes against peaceful and defenseless IPOB protesters, even when they embark on rallies, and sensitization campaigns. They(IPOB) are usually been clamped down with excessive use of force as ordered by the Nigerian President Buhari who was quoted in a BBC Hausa interview as saying that he does not regret his actions against Biafrans during the genocidal war, and that in fact, he would kill more Biafrans to ensure Nigeria remains as one, avowing that the country's unity is non-negotiable on different fora.

Not slackening on their evil schemes against IPOB, the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami who is also from the Muslim-dominated North, conspired with a Northern judge, Mr. Abdullahi Kafarati to obtain a kangaroo court ruling proscribing IPOB as terrorists, in the country's domestic court. But thankfully, while all these scripts are playing out, many concerned individuals, erudite scholars, professors, Senior Advocates of Nigeria, including the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has unanimously rendered their voices in disagreement and condemnation of the act [See http://punchng.com/profs-sans-others-disagree-on-court-order-banning-ipob/], admitting that it has no legal precedent, unconstitutional, null and void. But unsurprisingly, on the other hand, the Northern Elders Forum, unanimously endorsed the spurious and condemnable attitude of the Nigerian government [See https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/northern-elders-forum-backs-proscription-of-ipob.html] which further deepens our perception and rendered credence to the fact that IPOB proscription is indeed the conspiracy of political actors from the Northern part of Nigeria.

Your Excellencies, at this juncture, it is pertinent to note that IPOB as a nation and as a people exist in almost all nations and territories of the world where they have brought meaningful development for their host countries without any record of perpetrating "terror" in those countries. We have IPOB scattered everywhere in the United Kingdom, France, United States and numerous other countries of the world where they have lived for years and contributed to the development of those countries. The question demanding urgent answer is whether only in Nigeria from where IPOB migrated to other regions and continents of the world, that they are tagged terrorists and earmarked for decimation simply for pursuing their inalienable right to self-determination as recognized by law? IPOB as a non-violent freedom fighting outfit under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is anchored on peaceful and legal means of agitation for self-governance and it has been globally recognized as peaceful people in all countries they reside. Your Excellencies must have in one period or another, witnessed the IPOB peacefully demonstrating or carrying out series of rallies in your respective States. IPOB was also seen demonstrating at the UN Headquarters, New York City at the opening of the UN General Assembly, without the US government calling for their elimination or declaring them terrorists.

Your Excellencies, if you had paid rapt attention to the speech of the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari at the 72nd Session of UNGA, you must have heard him not only condemned the human rights violations against Rohingya Muslims but also went further to advocate for the recognition and creation of a Palestinian independent State from Israel. Please permit me to quote Mr. Buhari here, he said, “...Along this line, Mr. President, we at the United Nations need to do more to bring about a more equitable world where a large group of people does not feel suppressed, undervalued and alienated. Last year, I talked about the need for Palestinians to have their own state. Progress has not been made on that matter in the past one year. It is one of those problems that we must not punt to another generation.

“Any glaring unfairness, like the Palestinian case, diminishes our moral authority to preach and lecture the world on other cases. As we have learned in Nigeria, our stubborn self-righteousness blocks our ears from hearing the cry of those that we left on the fringe of society and blocks our eyes from seeing and reading the handwriting on the wall.”

These were the exact words of the Nigerian President asking for the self-determination of the Palestinians, the same demand that Biafrans in Nigeria has been asking for but unfortunately, were faced with brutal force and extermination by the Armed Forces of Nigeria. Does that not amount to sheer hypocrisy your Excellencies? It is said that what is good for the goose is also good for the gander. If the Nigerian Head of State could come out before the world to intercede on behalf of those Muslims, why would the Christian Biafrans who have suffered intense genocide in Nigeria and are still been faced with threats of annihilation simply because they pursue their rights to self-determination, not be granted equal rights as those of their Muslim counterpart? Why are Biafrans/IPOB being mapped out for decimation in a country where they are regarded as second-class citizens. The height of this grand conspiracy against Biafrans is when Fulani herdsmen (4th ranking most deadly and dreaded terror group in the world), who migrated from the North to the Southern regions of the country, are allowed to slaughter innocent people of their history communities including engaging in sexual violence against its female folks without the Nigerian government acting swiftly to disband, disarm or proclaim them as the real terrorists. Your Excellencies, if all these actions and inactions of the Nigerian government are not a Muslim dominated Northern region conspiracy against Christain Biafrans in Eastern Nigeria, then I wonder what word could be used to qualify the act.

Your Excellencies, just as the Nigerian President advocated for an independent State of Palestine, so does Biafrans/IPOB want a country of their own where equity, fairness, freedom, and justice shall reign for we believe that these are the ingredients and prerogatives of global peace and consolidation on human rights. It is, therefore, our request that you critically consider these situations in Nigeria before you react to any official request brought to you by the Nigerian government under the influence of the Northern hegemony.

Thank You.
