Oraifite Mayhem: Restrain and refrain from arresting Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Federal High Court ordered Nigerian security agencies

December 24, 2019

By Nwamgba Amah | Biafra Writers

Awka - Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who was declared wanted by the Anambra State Commissioner of Police John Abang on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, in connection with the alleged murder of two police officers in Oraifite, Ekwusigo LGA of the state has gotten a temporary respite as the Federal High Court in the State ordered the security agencies to restrain and refrain from arresting him in compliance with the order of the court.

The court also ordered the security agencies to maintain the status quo pending the hearing of the plaintiff motion on notice and also to put the plaintiff, all the defendants on notice before the hearing of the substantive suit which was adjourned till Friday, December 27, 2019.

Barrister Ejiofor's persecution was perceived as an indirect attack on his person due to his involvement with IPOB as the counsel to group and lawyer to its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

A group of lawyers under the auspices of Victims of Persecution has written to the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willy Obiano over the urgent need to set up a commission of inquiry to investigate the gruesome and callous incident that took place at Oraifite, Ekwusigo LGA, Anambra state.

The copies of the petition which was made available to Biafra Writers and transcripted read thus;

Friday, 20th December 2019
His Excellency,
Chief Willy Obiano
Governor. Anambra State

Thro: The Anambra State  Liaison Office Abuja

 Dear Your Excellency

The Oraifite".... utter carnage"

URGENT NEED FOR YOUR OFFICE TO SET UP A COMMISSION OF INQUIRY

We of the Victims of  Persecution deeply sympathize with your Excellency, the Government and People of Anambra State over the recent gruesome and callous incidence at Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Area of Anambra State.

Four bodies/persons have described it from their different gory perspectives:

  1. The Oraifite Improvement 'union in a Public Statement described it as:  "...scene of utter carnage"
  2. This is how the Nigerian Police put: "...set ablaze one Patrol vehicle and attacked them with rifles and machetes. And as a result two police officers... were killed... while others were inflicted with machete cuts"
  3. I.C. Ejiofor, Esq. in his letter dated 9th December 2019 to your Excellency highlighted as follows: "... the police under Anambra State Police Command and other security agents brutally invaded and set ablaze my premises in Oraifite Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State and consequently killed six unarmed Civilians on the 2nd December 2019
  4.  Finally, one of the highly informed NGOs. International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of law at page 5 (Paras. 4 & 5) of its letter (REF: INTERSOC:OO1/12/19/OSGF/ABJ/NG) & dated Monday 16th December 2019 submitted:

 Para. 4
"Surprisingly at about 10.30am same morning, truck-loads of armed police personnel comprising of the operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), Ichi Unit and others had besieged the Lawyer's family compound and violently broke into same. As a result, verbal exchanges ensued between them and a handful of domestic staff and volunteers who were tidying up the compound and watching over the environment. They were all unarmed. The armed SARS operatives.. .opened fire after being told that the Lawyer was not at home and likely on his way to honor the invitation from the same Area Commander. Police bullets rained in all directions, forcing many including members of the neighborhood to run for safety.

Para. 5
Resisted by some of the volunteers through anti bullet charms, the armed police personnel became deadlier and resorted to grabbing and hitting them with metals and thick planks. In the end, four defenseless citizens were killed and others sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds. Eyewitnesses said two of the dead victims were rescued by their colleagues and hidden while the police made away with two others who were later set ablaze with a police van hundreds of meters away from Barr Ifeanyi Ejiofor's family compound. Police also said they lost two officers (an ACP and an ASP) during the
attack.... .. "

All the four above (though each from entirely from different and divergent interrogations) portend sorrow for the despicable and avoidable loss of human life and property. Thomas Jefferson, former President of the United States of America once said

  • "The care of human life and happiness. and not their destruction is the first and only objective of good government."
In fact, this is how Section 33 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria. 1999 (as amended) put it:
  • "Every person has a right to life, and no one shall be deprived intentionally of his life, save in execution of the sentence of a court..."
This is in addition to the Constitutional powers of the Anambra State House of Assembly under Section 4(7) of our Constitution:
  •  ..to make laws for the peace. order and good government of the State or any part thereof with respect to the following matters..."
Emphasis ours.

(c) any other matter with respect to which it is empowered to make laws in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution)

In furtherance to the above constitutional power and duty "... to make laws for the peace. order and good government of the State or any part thereof..." the Anambra State House of Assembly has set the tempo for the equitable resolution of matters of this ugly nature by having creditably enacted the Anambra State Commission of Inquiry Law, CAP 31.

Your Excellency. our Constitution via Section 5(2) mandates your office as follows:

Subject to the provisions of this Constitution,.. the executive powers of  a State
  • (a) Shall be vested in the Governor of the State... and"
  • (b) shall extend to the execution and maintenance of this Constitution, all laws made by the House of Assembly of the State and to all matters with respect to which the House of Assembly has for the time being power to make laws.)

Your Excellency (as the Chief Executive Of the Laws of Anambra State etc.), we recommend to you the immutable words Of Wilson Woodrow;
"There is no higher religion than human service. To  work for the common good is the greatest creed".
To this effect. we of the Victims Of Persecution request your Excellency to urgently set up a Commission of Inquiry over The Oraifite"... utter carnage". The real essence of humanity and government is to stand up for who can no longer stand up for themselves. No one should be unlawfully cut down like footpath grasses.

Yours Sincerely,

Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume, SAN
Rapporteur

Traditional rulers that endorsed Gov Obiano's Kill and Pay ₦500,000 Policy Exposed, see list

October 10, 2019 | The Biafra Times

It’s no longer news that the governor of Anambara state, Willie Obiano, rates the life of an average Igbo Man at ₦500,000. And rather than ban the activities of terrorist Fulani herdsmen who have been raping and killing our people, the governor chose to explore the business side of the coin, charging Miyetti Allah – the parent body of terrorist herdsmen – the sum of ₦500,000 for each person they kill. In the governor’s view, the life of an Igbo man is valued in cash, and come to that, is worth ₦500,000 only.

Saddened by this ugly development, our roving news crew took the pains to dig deeper into the matter and in doing so, came to the shocking realization that the governor actually acted in connivance with some traditional rulers in the state. Furthering investigations therefore, our journalists were able to dig up the names of the thoughtless traditional rulers who, although see the day-to-day grief of the villagers, have suppressed their conscience to support such morbid business of exchanging life for money. Fulanization Agenda: Miyetti Allah Gains Ground, Penetrates Anambara State Government

October 3, 2019

By Nelson Ofokar Yagazie | Biafra Writers

Sir Ahmadu Bello’s dream of making Nigeria an estate of Othman Dan Fodio and using the southern part of the country as conquered territory seems to be coming to fruition as Myetti Allah, the parent body of terrorist Fulani herdsmen, has managed to intimidate the governor of Anambara state, Willie Obiano, into making it a part of Anambara state ruling class. The subservient governor broke the ugly news in an event believed to be a security accord between Myetti Allah and Anambara state government.

As captured in a video clip made available to the press, the lily-livered governor made the revelation while delivering a speech in which he valued the life of an average Igbo man at ₦500, 000. “Myetti Allah is in the government of Anambara state,” the thoughtless governor announced.

Now part of the decision making body of Anambara state, Myetti Allah certainly will, working like the proverbial yeast of the Pharisees, influence a complete ‘RUGAlization’ and total takeover of the land. Whether or not Governor Obiano knows the implications of that singular decision remains to be ascertained. One thing is clear however: his lust for power overrode his sense of reason. Clearly, the fear of losing the governorship seat (which in the first place he got through manipulations authored by the caliphate) led him into caving in to Myetti Allah’s demands. Islam, it should be remembered, plans decades ahead.

Recall that briefly after the independence, precisely on October 12, 1960, the then Premier of Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, (Sarduana of Sokoto), yearned for a Nigeria that will be an estate of the caliphate, enslaving the south while employing the services of Northerner minorities. Widely reported by the then foremost media outfit, Parrot Newspapers, Ahmadu Bello said, “The new nation called Nigeria should be an estate of our great grandfather, Othman Dan Fodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power. We will use the minorities of the North as willing tools and the south as a conquered territory, and never allow them to rule over us and never allow them to have control over their future.”

Foreseeing the fate of Afonja and the people of Ilorin in the pathetic decision to bring into the fold the Caliphate’s frontliners, one need no telling that it’s only a matter of time and the Sarduana’s dreams will come to full realization. The masses are therefore in a rude-shock, with many expressing concerns over the mental health of the brash governor.

Willie Obiano Plans To Sell Off Agulu Lake Hotel to Himself

October 2, 2019 | The Biafra Times

Odumodu Gbulagu writes on the governor’s perceived agenda to sell off the state-owned Agulu Lake Hotel to himself through a dubiously presented front.

When I reported the approval by Anambra state Executive council (EXCO) for Gov. Willie Obiano to sell Agulu Lake Hotel (to be sold to his front) and mass production of a magazine by Mr. Mark Okoye denying the huge bequeathal to Obiano – 75 billion Naira; some people doubted the credibility and authenticity of my message.

Right now, Agulu people are adequately informed. In fact, they had already held a meeting on what to do in order to avert this dangerous and dubious moves by the governor. Last Sunday, the Committee Agulu set up to look into the matter had their inaugural meeting.

In the last EXCO of 30th September, Chief Willie Obiano asked the member to be on the lookout, that he would deal “ruthlessly” with the opposition. We do not know exactly what he means by “ruthlessly”; could be killing, cudgeling, blinding, crippling, slapping, bastinadoing? Who knows.

Gov. Obiano went on to say that the Government would triple its war against the opposition. He, however, said that now was the time to engage the likes of Chief Ben Obi (Mbuze Agulu, not Sen. Obi) and Chief Dan Ulasi. He mandated the Secretary to the State Government to go after assuring him that the Govt. would pay whatever he names to get him to appear on television and radio stations.

Another task was the charge to go after and buy up any perceived supporter of Mr. Peter Obi.

“Before I finish with him, we would have stripped him naked”, Obiano boasted.

We are watching!

Grief in Anambara as Governor Obiano Equates the Life of an Average Igbo with 500,000 Naira

October 1, 2019

By Nelson Ofokar Yagazie | Biafra Writers

The blanket of hate and contempt for the Igbo thrown by the Nigerian state has been so strong that it has caught in its web even the Igbo for whom the disregard is designed. Of course, the one thing Nigeria agrees on is the hate and contempt for the Igbo, and this, having been watered for long, has taken roots in the national consciousness with far-reaching effects perceived in the gusto with which the country jettisons its own growth just to cripple the Igbo. Just in case one is still grappling with that factuality, consider how the government would dole out millions of dollars to foreign car companies rather than patronize indigenous one, Innoson Motors. Or how they prefer importing arms from ordinary Jordan to financing a military-industrial complex where Igbo smiths will upgrade Oka-made guns to machine guns, bazookas, and howitzers. Or how they prefer the importation of shoes and other leather wears to equipping Aba Shoe Village. Or how they would spend millions of dollars on Anti-Retroviral Drugs rather than finance Doctor Abalaka who has managed to develop a permanent cure for HIV.

Obviously, the biggest federal project in Nigeria is the hate and contempt for the Igbo. So important is this hate and contempt that more money is spent disparaging the Igbo than fixing the deteriorating educational sector. It’s more fashionable in Nigeria to talk down Aba-made items than cross-fertilize ideas on how such locally made products can be financed and upgraded to a world-class standard.

To strike home their contempt for the Igbo and make it all acceptable, the Yoruba crafted the rhetoric “the Igbo don’t love themselves.” This terse has caught the present day Igbo unawares and working like yeast, has eaten deep into the victims’ mind that they are often caught expressing self-disregard. This self-disregard was recently expressed by the governor of Anambara state, Chief Willie Obiano, in a gathering of Myetti Allah and a few Igbo personals believed to be a security meeting.

RELATED NEWS: Give Us ₦500,000 for Every Igbo Man You Kill – Gov Obiano Tells Myetti Allah

Addressing the people as captured in the video clip making rounds, the psychologically-beaten governor valued the life of an average Igbo man at ₦500, 000 … about $1,400. “If you destroy any farm, you pay. And if you kill their cow (now talking to the Igbos), you pay.”  Speaking further, Governor Obiano said to Myetti Allah, “If for any reason somebody dies, it’s a police matter but if our people ‘is’ killed, you will pay 500, 000 naira.”

It’s demeaning enough to equate the life of an Igbo with money, yet more demeaning is the value … mere ₦500,000. The contempt being spread by the Nigerian state with the judicious help of Yoruba media, no doubt, has caught the governor unguarded. The psychological impact, having eroded all traces of self-esteem, had him valuing his kinsmen, and himself come to that, at half a million naira.

Reactions trailing the circulating video, however, show disapproval, with many commentators of Igbo extraction not only expressing displeasure but wondering also if the governor spoke under the influence of alcohol.

Give Us ₦500,000 for Every Igbo Man You Kill – Gov Obiano Tells Myetti Allah

Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra state

September 30, 2019
By Nelson Ofokar Yagazie | Biafra Writers

The national contempt and disregard for the Igbo seem to have struck home as the governor of Anambara State, Willie Obiano, equates the life of an average Igbo with 500,000. Obiano who in the buildup to 2019 presidential election called the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, John Nnia Nwodo, an idiot in a hot exchange over which Fulani man to support while ignoring the aspirations of an Igbo son, Kingsley Moghalu, seems to have been totally carried away by the brewing hate and disregard for the Igbo as has been displayed by the Nigerian state since creation but by far more vigorously championed by the current administration of Muhammadu Buhari remotely controlled by Abba Kyari and Mamman Daura.

Drowned in this toxic river of hate and contempt for the Igbo, Obiano thinks the life of an average Igbo is worth only half a million naira – less than US$1,400. The self-demeaning governor made this disparaging remark in a gathering of Myetti Allah and few Igbo persons in what he presupposed a security accord between Myetti Allah and Anambara state government. As captured in the video clip making rounds, the governor said, “If you destroy any farm, you pay. And if you kill their cow (now talking to the Igbos), you pay. If for any reason somebody dies, it’s a police matter but if our people ‘is’ killed, they (Myetti Allah) will pay 500, 000 naira.”

To have valued the life of an average Igbo man at 500,000 is the heights of contempt. And to think this assessment applies to himself – being an Igbo himself – explains to what level the Igbo has lost self-esteem. Rather than hand out a total ban on Myetti Allah operations in the event of any murder, Obiano who partook in the proscription of the non-violence group, IPOB, demands a paltry sum of 500,000 in exchange for the life of those he was elected and sworn into office to protect. By implication, the Fulani herders – globally recognized as the fourth most deadly terrorist sect – can go on a killing spree as long as their parent body, Myetti Allah, can afford to pay the stated amount per head.

Although in the later part of his speech the governor attempted to balance things up by saying that the involved community will pay the stated fine also should any of the terror-leashing Fulani cattle herders die – say in the course of the villagers/famers defending selves – to have pegged the net worth of the life of an Igbo man at five hundred thousand naira cannot be excused. Come to that, the Igbo is not known for violence; on the contrary they are famous for their hospitality and acceptance for the alien. As such it’s unlikely that an Igbo man would try to take human life unless of course in self-defense. And there again they are being told that they’d have to pay fine for not allowing selves to be slaughtered by Fulani herdsmen in their own God-given land. Terrible!

DSS Abducted a Breastfeeding Mother in Nnewi

By Ezzy Okorie | Biafra Writers
September 20, 2019

Information reaching the desk of Biafra Writers has it that the Nigeria DSS have kidnapped a breastfeeding Mother and wife of an IPOB member Mrs.Okoro Chimkamuma, 32 years of age. According to an eye witness, Mrs. Okoro was kidnapped and taken away by the men of the Nigerian DSS under the instruction of Anambra state Governor, Willy Obiano. This incident happened on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at the back of the Guaranty Trust Bank, GTB, in Nnewi town, Anambra state.

The fierce-looking DSS men abandoned Mrs. Okoro’s little baby of a year and few months in a daycare knowing quite well the baby is still being breastfed by her mummy.

They kidnapped and took Mrs. Chimkamuma Okoro away from her business premises after an attempt to arrest her husband Mr. Uchenna Okoro, who is an IPOB family member failed. The reason for trying to arrest him is because of his Biafra activism.

We understood that they are detaining Mr. Okoro at the DSS office Awka, where most of the Fulani officers are stationed.

Governor Willy Obiano should be held responsible if Mrs. Okoro got molested in the hands of these Fulani security officers, IPOB will not take this matter lightly if Mrs. Okoro is not released immediately. This nonsense of arresting innocent people for nothing sake must stop.

Top 7 Igbo Politicians on IPOB Blacklist and Why

August 20, 2019 | The Biafra Times

SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON THE ACTIVE ROLE IKE EKWEREMADU, NNIA NWODO, DAVE UMAHI, OKEZIE IKPEAZU, ROCHAS OKOROCHA, WILLIE OBIANO & IFEANYI UGWUANYI PLAYED IN THE PLOT TO ASSASSINATE ME & KILL OUR DREAM OF FREEDOM THROUGH THEIR OPERATION PYTHON DANCE [Part 1]

These men mentioned above instigated, financed and defended a full-scale bloody military invasion of Biafraland they tagged Operation Python Dance that led to the torture and untimely death of over 600 Biafrans, 28 of which fell in my compound.

These men sanctioned the desecration of the home of an Igbo tradition ruler by Fulani soldiers and did not care if my father HRM Eze Israel Okwu Kanu and my mother, who were home with me during the unprovoked invasion, is killed or not. All these desperate Igbo politicians ever wanted was my death, the death of IPOB, the death of our dream of freedom for all.

In view of the Nuremberg encounter, it has become necessary for us to refresh our memories lest it succumbs to confusion and deliberate misinformation because most people, unlike we IPOB, are in the habit of excusing intolerable evil and wickedness but we not. Every perpetrator of evil, every purveyor of iniquity, every merchant of misery and every defender of injustice must and will be held to account. We will relent until justice is served.

*Full Resolution of South-East Governors On IPOB and Operation Python Dance

The Chairman of the South-East Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, read the resolution with Enugu Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to his left and Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State to his right.

The South-East Governors Forum held a meeting at Government House in Enugu over the increased tension in the region after what they mischievously termed Sunday’s clash between soldiers and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

At the end of the meeting, which was also attended by Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo John Nwodo, they arrived at 11 resolutions which include a ban on IPOB activities and an appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to withdraw soldiers from the region.

Below is the statement read by the Chairman of the South-East Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State Dave Umahi at the end of that meeting:

In view of the prevailing situation in the South East and its attendant consequences, the South-East governors hereby resolve as follows:

1. All activities of IPOB are hereby proscribed. IPOB and all other aggrieved groups are to articulate their position on all national issues and submit to the committee of Governors of South East, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and National Assembly members from South-East zone through the Chairman of South-East Governors Forum.

2. All governors of South East are expected to ensure compliance in their respective states.

3. The South-East Governors Forum, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and National Assembly Members do hereby reinforce their commitment to one united and indivisible Nigeria.

4. We also reinforce our desire for the restructuring of Nigeria where all national issues will be discussed and amicably settled to achieve justice and fairness to every Nigerian.

5. We reiterate our earlier position that the November 18, 2017, Gubernatorial election in Anambra State must hold.

6. Accordingly, we appeal to our President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR to, please, withdraw the military in the South-East Zone while the police perform their traditional role of maintaining law and order within this period.

7. South-East governors have taken concrete steps to protect the lives and properties of non-indigenes in the South East and, of course, including the lives and properties of indigenes in the South-East as well.

8. We are in touch with the Northern Governors Forum and they have assured us of the safety of all our people living in the North and we have also planned for exchange of visits between the governors. This is to reinforce the confidence of Nigerians in this regard.

9. In keeping with our earlier position, we wish to assure Nigerians that full investigation is ongoing and all allegations of killings, maiming and other unlawful conduct in the South-East Zone within this period. The governors and the security agencies are in agreement that appropriate action will be taken against anyone culpable.

10. We advise all residents of the South East to go about their normal businesses as the government of each state is committed to protecting everybody.

11. Finally, we advise our people in the South East to, please, be law-abiding.

[End of statement]

I have added the video of the unprovoked military assault on my compound by the cowardly Nigerian Army whose sole purpose was to kill me -an unarmed man, my parents and those around me despite the fact we are a peaceful movement. Those with a conscience can now understand the root cause of our anger and why we won't stop until they all pay dearly for their sins.

Biafrans in great danger over recent manhunt - IPOB cries out

April 3, 2019 | The Biafra Times

IPOB Press Statement

It has come to the knowledge of the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) how Nigerian Police officers  posted in Biafraland particularly those Fulani Police officers deployed in Anambra and Abia are used to parade innocent citizens as IPOB members in Awka with allegations of carrying guns and AK47 rifle in Orumba, Anambra State, it is clear that the whole allegation was purely designed and handed over to Fulani Police officers by Governors of Anambra and Abia States, Chief Willie Obiano and  Okezie Ikpeazu.

It's important we notify the whole world that government of Fulani people in Nigeria, Igbo governors, Police and Army are at it again, they have intensified another round of manhunt and arrest of individuals including innocent citizens they suspected to be sympathizer or IPOB member in Abia and Anambra States. Our people are in serious danger over the recent and latest version of manhunt and illegal arrest going on in Abia and Anambra States which instructed by Okezie Ikpeazu and Willie Obiano.

Also, we want to use this press statement to remind Nigerians and stakeholders in Abia and Anambra States to warn Okezie Ikpeazu and Willie Obiano to release those arrested in their respective states or wait to see IPOB's new strategy to restore Biafra sovereignty in a shortest possible time. Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Willie Obiano, and other southeast governors must leave IPOB members alone before it is too late.

It is a pity and unbelievable that Anambra State police commands in Awka would be working with the already scripts handed over to them by Willie Obiano to intimidate and arrest innocent citizens who are living in Orumba North and South of Anambra State with the accusation of carrying guns and AK47 rifles. IPOB members doesn't go with guns or AK 47 rifle since inception and formation of this great and noble movement which solely championing  Biafra freedom and sovereignty by our prophet and peaceful leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Nigerians must thank God, the father in Heaven who mandated our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to be peaceful in all his approach to restore Biafra sovereignty.

The most painful and disturbing thing is how media houses in Biafraland and Nigeria at large refused to be bold enough to ask the police, Obiano and Okezie Ikpeazu questions about the offense and false allegations Police, DSS, Army always leveled against IPOB members in the country. We wondered and still surprise when IPOB started carrying guns and AK47 rifle in Biafraland or in the whole of Nigeria.

We are worried over the deployment and posting of Fulani Nigerian police and army officers in Biafraland, all the Commissioner of Police in Anambra and Abia States including other States in Biafraland are Fulani officers both their spokespersons, Area Commanders, and DPOs, all are Fulanis. Our people are seriously under cage while the so called Governors who claimed to be chief security officers of the state and Ohaneze Ndigbo are busy licking their Fulani slave masters in the North.

We reiterate once again to all and sundry that IPOB members never attacked or burnt police station in Ajali of Orumba Anambra State and will never do so until Biafra freedom is restored, therefore, those who are friends and relatives to Obiano and Ikpeazu should urge them to release those arrested illegally in their respective states immediately particularly those in connection to this recent incident in Orumba, whom we are not unaware that they never in their life time think of attacking or burning any police station in Ajali Orumba LGA or anywhere across Biafraland.

COMRADE EMMA POWERFUL MEDIA AND PUBLICITY SECRETARY FOR IPOB.
