We are not interested in your election and campaign - IPOB

IPOB PRESS RELEASE

October 8, 2022 | The Biafra Times

IPOB HAS NO BUSINESS WITH NIGERIA ELECTION AND THEIR CAMPAIGN.

We the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) led and commanded by Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is very much aware that the Nigeria Government is both directly and indirectly sponsoring election violence in Biafra land with the intention to blackmail the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Internationally as anti democratic process.

The IPOB leadership has for umpteenth time stated unequivocally that part of our modus operandi in our agitation for freedom has never been, is not and will not be violent agitation. This explains our consistent demand for the UN to organise a Referendum in the Biafran territory for the Biafran people to determine their destiny. To this effect, IPOB is neither contemplating nor will it  encouraged or sponsor anyone or group to disrupt the Zoo Nigeria shambolic selection process called election. IPOB has constantly made it public that we have no interest in and cannot legitimise the aberration they call election in Nigeria. We are a focused, determined and disciplined freedom fighting movement not political thugs and IPOB is devoted to the cause of liberating our people for subjugation and from modern day slavery and Neo-colonialism and will not allow ourselves to be distracted from this very objective.

The world must hold to account the Nigeria Government and the criminals it is covertly recruiting and positioning in the South East to create an environment of violence and after causing the violence, will use the Zoo shameless and fantastically compromised and corrupt  Media to blame IPOB for the election violence that they themselves instigated and executed during campaigns and their shambolic elections. IPOB is not part of Zoological Republic sham election and will never be part of them. IPOB is solely focused on Biafra Independence struggle which Nigeria Government and her Allies are working very hard to try and derail with their daily propaganda and blackmail against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB members worldwide. They will always fail because the restoration Biafra as Free Sovereign and Independent Nation is Divinely ordained and its time is now.

Our demands are simple:

1. Release the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra  Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu unconditionally.

2. Fix a Referendum date for Biafrans to decide their fate either for FREEDOM in a Sovereign Biafran Nation or for Permanent subjugation and oppression in the Fulani controlled Islamic republic of Nigeria.

As we have said in our previous press releases, Nigeria Government and her compromised Security Agencies are responsible for most criminalities going-on in Biafraland and some other parts of Nigeria. This very fact has been confirmed by Nigeria Army officers in their letter to the Buhari the impostor in Aso Rock while protesting poor welfare, low morale, corruption in the Army as an institution and lack of adequate working tools to the effect that some of their men are involved in kidnapping and other sundry  crimes for survival. What a shame, this is the smoking gun that has hitherto been missing. So when they will recruit these criminals in uniform and their civilian partners or JTF's to cause violence in Biafraland during and after campaigns and  selection, the International community should know who to hold responsible and that will be the Nigerian government.

The current political atmosphere in the Nigeria election campaigns shows that the oppressed and disgruntled Youths are on one side while the old who are comfortable with their oppressors are on the other side. You don't need any prophet to tell you that this election may end up like 2020 #ENDSARS that brought the youths to the streets in protest across Nigeria. Recollect that the #ENDSARS mass protest led by the youths was infiltrated and hijacked by violent thugs on the pay roll and at the behest of the Nigerian government and blamed on IPOB. Nigerian government is warming up to do same again during this their selection process.

If Nigeria Government keep playing ostrich this time around what happened in Nigeria in October 2020 might be a child's play to what will happen this time.

IPOB is not interested and will never involve ourselves in any Nigeria fraudulent preelection or postelection issues. Our job is to open the eyes of the blinds by the gospel of truth which our leader has delivered already.

Whoever, that is sponsoring any group or gang tagging them IPOB is on his/her own.

For those who are hard of hearing, IPOB is *ONE INDIVISIBLE FAMILY* under one Central Command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu. This divine movement is being piloted by the Only Structure which Mazi Nnamdi Kanu put in place and that Structure is the *Directorate of State of the Indigenous People of Biafra (DOS)* with Mazi Chika Edoziem as the Head of the DOS. Anyone who chooses to play foolish and act dumb is fully in his/her right to do so but IPOB cannot answer for their foolishness neither shall IPOB be responsible for their stupidity. If in the future IPOB Leadership decides to make further statement on the upcoming Nigeria selection process called election, we shall make such statement through our official channels which are *(1) Announcement on our hallowed radio station  Radio Biafra or (2) Press Statement from IPOB Publicity Secretary.* Any other  information claiming to emanate from IPOB but not issued through the above two channels is not only deceitful but fraudulent and does not represent the position of the Indigenous People of Biafra led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Secession threats: ‘National Assembly must pave way for needed changes’ – Malumfashi

August 9, 2021 | The Biafra Times

By Hafsat Abdulhamid

A lecturer with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, Professor Mansur Usman Malumfashi, has called on the National Assembly to urgently provide the constitutional platform that will accommodate changes in Nigeria, even as he declared that the country’s foundation is shaky.

Malumfashi, who is with the Faculty of Education, ATBU, stated these in an interview with journalists in Bauchi while reacting to secession threats in part of the country, submitted that the state of the nation was not only alarming but also unfortunate.

He said that as of today, every geopolitical zone in the country was experiencing one form of challenge or the other, adding members of the National Assembly were required to bring about the changes being demanded by the zones.

“To be very candid, the state of the nation is really alarming and unfortunate. A group in the South West is calling for Oduduwa Republic and others in the South East are also calling for their own Biafra.

“So you find out that almost every zone of the country is facing one challenge or another in the sense that almost every sector of our national life is faced by one challenge or another.

“All the zones in the country, look at them, North East, Boko Haram, North West is kidnapping and banditry, North central is farmers-herders crises, South South the militants and the vandalisation of pipelines and so on and so forth.

“You find the issue of insecurity, you find the issue of unemployment, you find the issue of inflation, you find the issue of social explosion. What I mean by social explosion is that you find youth restiveness, youth gangsterism and so on and so forth,” the don said.

He said the National Assembly had great roles to play in the current agitations for restructuring, declaring that the legislature were empowered to bring the change the people wanted.

“Constitutionally they are the people required to bring about the changes requested by sections of the country.

“You cannot just jump out and say you want a country or self determination or we want to restructure the country,” he said.

According to him, the current reality in Nigeria called for a sober reflection, submitting that there was the need to sit down and look at things as they were in the country objectively.

“Really, the situation calls for sober reflection of the very foundation of the state, I mean the Nigeria nation. We really need to sit down and look at things from an objective perspective because right now the foundation of the country is shaky and we are appealing to people in governance to look at the issue more seriously,” Malumfashi submitted.

Speaking on the relationship between the National Assembly and the executive, the professor noted that though there is currently

a harmonious relationship between the two arms of government, such should, however, be for the benefit of Nigerians and not to short-changed them.

According to him, “the National Assembly or Parliament must work together for the general good of the country. We have had situations where members of the National Assembly would be involved in padding the budget for whatever reasons and at the end of the day whatever is padded is not meant for the people.

“So a good working relationship would be for the benefit of Nigerians and I think they are not doing badly but we really need to put them on their toes so that they will do more because the National Assembly can do better.”

Ghost Town In Biafra, A Trial Referendum?

Ghost Town In Biafra, A Trial Referendum?

August 7, 2021

By David Umahi | Biafra Writers

A non-violent, freedom movement in Nigeria; the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, fronting the liberation of the Biafran people seems to have upped its stride to realising a sovereign state.

IPOB said it would stage a passive protest, tagged 'ghost town'. That is, holding aloof from every form of social and economic activities until their demands are met.

Could this be a litmus test to their sought-after referendum?

This piece is a summation of the view of many Biafrans that discussed the recent declaration of “Ghost Town” by the Indigenous People of Biafra.

The Directorate of State of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, had given a deadline to the federal government of Nigeria towards the release of its detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

On Thursday, July 29, 2021, Chika Edoziem, Head of IPOB's Directorate of State issued an ultimatum that, "Nigeria failing to release Kanu on or before August 8 would be faced with a weekly 'ghost town' action every Monday".

In that case, ghost town means an out and out desertion of roads, streets; including abstinence from socio-economic, and political activities that on such a day, Biafrans will desert the streets, which would completely cripple every economic, and social functions.

Edoziem was unapologetic in the declaration: “The Directorate of the Indigenous People of Biafra, demand herewith an unconditional release of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on or before the 8th of August, 2021, failing which we shall commence a weekly lockdown of Biafra land starting on Monday 9th of August.”

“For the avoidance of doubt’ he continued, ‘the total lockdown of Biafra land will take place every Monday until our leader is released unconditionally.

“We are now into freedom struggle proper and everybody must understand that before the arrest of our leader, he raised the dragon flag, which was never brought down even at this moment. You know what that means.”

It is pertinent to note that Nnamdi Kanu's abduction, which appeared conspiratorial, was effectuated in Kenya by the country’s authorities, then rendered to Nigeria. It was a grave international crime known as "extraordinary rendition," and Nigeria has been berated globally for its action, called out as a display of international "gangsterism" (sic).

It is very clear; Nigerian government, being dangled by streaks of criticism by the people, has become confused, and crippled to front the trial of the Biafran leader. For instance, on June 29, he was brought to court hooded, and without prior notification to his lawyers that he was to be in court - after which the case was adjourned to July 26.

In the same light, Nigeria's Department of Security Services (DSS), on the latter date, failed to bring the accused [Kanu] to court, claiming they had logistics problems. As a result, the case suffered another adjournment until October 21, 2021.

It was a development the Biafrans were not ready to accept. It showed in the declaration of Edoziem: “It is completely unacceptable to IPOB to allow our leader remain in the hands of the enemy up to October, 2021.” For this reason, "ghost town in Biafra" was activated.

Meanwhile, in the spirit of camaraderie and solidarity, IPOB's counterpart - Ambazonia - in Central African Cameroon has declared full support for the “ghost town” in the Eastern region of Nigeria. The Ambazonians are a people in the South-western tip of Cameroon that has also been in a quest to exit from Republic of Cameroon. They share common boundary with Biafra, and had been seeking to severe ties with Cameroon, which it joined six decades ago.  The leadership entered into alliance with the Biafran leadership in April this year.

The leader of Ambazonia, Ayaba, made his declaration of support less than 24 hours after the Biafran declaration. His words: “The people of Ambazonia have declared their unalloyed support for the planned weekly lock down in Biafra code named 'ghost town'”.

Many observers believe Ambazonia's support would worsen the situation for Nigeria as it said their land borders would remain closed. The people of Ambazonia have had records of successful sit-in (ghost town) protests which completely crippled economic activities in Cameroon.

Apart from the effects, believers in one-Nigeria think “Ghost Town Biafra” pose for the countries unity and the economy of Biafra, many Biafran activists think they were not seeing well. The Biafrans wonder why those they call the one-Nigerianists were not seeing Biafran referendum in the Ghost Town declaration.

Chidi Emeka, a Biafran who resides at Ngbuka Onitsha area has put up his view, that:, “Nigerian leadership of this current dispensation is not wise at all. They continue to follow this issue to their own detriment. Don’t they know that they giving referendum indirectly?”

He claims as Biafrans desert the streets, they world would be left in no doubt that Biafrans want out of Nigeria.

REFERENDUM PERMANENT SOLUTION TO NIGERIA'S MULTI-DIMENSIONAL WOES - KANU

POB PRESS RELEASE

January 15, 2021

By Mazi Nnamdi Kanu | The Biafra Times

It's quite ironic that Nigeria is still remembering the genocidal war of 1967- 1970 - the war which was planned to annihilate the people of the Old Eastern region, yet perpetrating the same actions that gave rise to the avoidable confrontation.

One of the major reasons the memories of that war cannot be easily erased from the minds of Biafrans is that today the oppressors have continued to repeat the same actions they visited on us with more impunity. Instead of treating Biafrans as equal stakeholders in the affairs of the country they have continued to subjugate and hunt down our people with the help collaborators in government houses in the east and Igbo professional traitors based in Abuja & Lagos. IPOB family members and other Biafran agitators have remained daily targets of the oppressor and their security agencies who see the South as a conquered territory and its indigenous inhabitants ripe for elimination at all cost.

The question every rational being must as is this; Why is Nigeria living in self denial? Despite repeated warnings, sometimes from those who previously worked against Biafra, that Nigeria is fast traveling on the same highway that led to the war in 1967, those at the helm of leadership in the Zoo that laughably refer to themselves as the 'elites' have chosen to play the ostrich.

Instead of playing to the gallery with warm words and empty promises, the time has come for these mischievous political hoodlums masquerading as elites in Nigeria to courageously do the needful and permanently address the root cause of the ever growing agitations across the Luggardian contraption. There is only one universally acknowledged solution to the problems bedeviling One Nigeria, it is called Referendum. This will enable and more importantly give the various ethnic nationalities forcibly clamped together into the undesirable British engineered colonial cage, the choice to decide whether or not they wish to continue their miserable coexistence or not.

I understand the fear and apprehension of ethnic groups in Arewa core North living under Fulani hegemonic bondage. We would like to reassure them that Biafra won't abandon them. The Biafra project is designed to set every oppressed group within Nigeria free, not just the long suffering people of the East. A referendum or plebiscite remains the best tool to determine the fate of the masses not the dictates of half educated semi-literate corrupt nonentities in Abuja.

This is 51 years after Harold Wilson's failed attempt to wipe out the entire Igbo Biafran race from the face of the earth. The Fulani agents of neo-colonialism he used have now perfected the same art of using  compromised individuals and Efulefus in the East to frustrate our march  towards freedom for all. They cannot succeed because the people they have been deceiving over the years are now smarter.

We agree with most of the germane issues raised at  the webinar conference  organized yesterday by Nzuko Umunna which further exposed some of the atrocities committed against Biafrans in the genocidal war 51 years ago. This was purely to let them know that we have not forgotten what they did to our fathers and mothers between 1966 and 1970.

From the sensible contributions of eminent Nigerians in that gathering, it's now obvious to  the Fulani ruling cabal running the country that no one is happy with what is happening. Those frank observations emanated from the few prominent and respected Nigerians including politicians and religious leaders. This is a reminder to  those thinking that they have pocketed Nigeria to stop living in self delusion. The youths of Nigeria are rising to rescue the country from those who have taken it hostage. Biafra will soon bid farewell to the contraption and no force can stop this divine movement.

IPOB is perfecting arrangement to ensure that Biafra is restored without another war but if our oppressors refuse to heed  our calls for referendum, then they will later realize that IPOB is determined to pay whatever sacrifice to free our people from this bondage.

We want our own country – Yoruba leader, Akintoye tells Buhari

September 28, 2020 | The Biafra Times

The leader of Yoruba ethnic group, Professor Banji Akintoye has said that Yoruba ethnic group is in dire need of its own country out of the present Nigeria.

Akintoye said that over 55 million people of Yoruba extraction, will get their freedom without breaking the law of the country or shedding blood.

The renowned historian made these declarations during the celebration of Kiriji war held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Wednesday.

History has it that Kiriji war happened in Yoruba land many decades ago.

Present at the celebration included Otun Olubadan, High Chief Lekan Balogun who represented the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Otunba Deji Osibogun, Wale Alabi, Comrade Olu Omotosho, Opeoluwa Elisha Ademoyegun and Iyanda Wasiu.

Akintoye while insisting that nothing would stop the liberation of Yoruba from its enemies, awakened the youths, who he said, were very important in the fight for struggle.

He said, “We have been saying we will have a Yoruba nation of our own. Yoruba World Congress is committed to helping Yoruba nation to secure its position in the comity of nations.

“They do say I don’t compromise. It is not every time. But once we say, we will take a common stance, I don’t know how to betray. We will get Yoruba nation free without violence, we will not break the laws of Nigeria. If there is anyone who wants to be violent, we will tell them, no.

“If you are violent and there are dead bodies on the streets, you are circumventing our purpose. We are telling the world that we want our own country. We have the rights to demand for our rights. When we launched Amotekun, was there any arrest, violence? If you want to stage a rally, do so. It’s your rights but no violence.

“I have passion for the youths. If you don’t have people who can take after you, no matter the amount of wealth you have it’s nothing. These youths are important. We elders can only guide and lead you. We can write letters but it is you who will do it. It must succeed. Anybody saying contrary, I’m not part of that idea.

“In the past of 30 and 40 years ago, the youths have not been the same again. I graduated from the University College Ibadan in the morning and by evening my wife and I were employed. I can’t do the things I’m doing now if I don’t have the youths around me.

“We are hurting our future in a very vicious way. Yoruba are 55 million, 74 percent are 40 years and. Step forward and. They have the authority of the land to say you can’t do it. Go back home. No violence. Go to market places, mechanic workshop, farmers on their way to the farms. If you can do this, getting our resolve done will not be difficult.”

“We don’t force our will on people. Explain to those organizations who don’t understand what you want. Yoruba will not suffer. We are the most populous in Africa. We want to take our own country and begin to build it. Nothing more,” he concluded.

In his own contribution, the leader of Movement for Oduduwa Republic, Architect Akin George explained how they had mobilized other people in Yorubaland.

“We went to Okemesi where the Kiriji war started. We saw the king. From there, we went to Imesi Ile and Igbajo. At Igbajo, we noticed disunity between Imesi Ile and Oke Imesi, between Igbajo and Ibadan people there.

“We reconciled them. We can’t fight the enemies if home front is divided. We may have misunderstanding but should not lead to quarrel,” he revealed.

Joint Press Statement: Give us referendum or we declare sovereignty Oct 1st 2021 --- Biafra & Oduduwa

PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF BIAFRA (IPOB) AND THE YORUBA ONE VOICE (YOV) THURSDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER 2020.

September 25, 2020 | The Biafra Times

The First Natural Step

As Nigeria approaches another so called Independence Day on October 1st, the matter of the permanent position of the indigenous peoples of the Oduduwa people and the people of Biafra, once again comes to fore. The attention of The IPOB and YOV, to the plight of their people, the Brothers and Sisters of the Biafra and Oduduwa nations, their sufferings within the stifling, breathless, forced convergence with degenerative, limiting, confluence and influence with others, who do not share our own values, whose ways of life, mannerisms, ideology, are untoward, inimical, alien, hostile to our people, all of these have now necessitated this historic occasion to which the IPOB and YOV are now addressed.

Gentlemen of The Press, The Biafra and The Oduduwa Nations jointly welcome you to a New Dawn.

NIGERIA–THE URGENT NEED FOR A REFERENDUM PRIOR TO THE 2023 ELECTIONS.

Dear countrymen and women, it is now time to boldly jettison the 1999 Constitution of the Federal (actually Unitary) Republic of Nigeria (as amended) which was not a product of the collective will of the Peoples of Nigeria. The said Constitution was decreed into existence by the General Abdulsalami Abubakar administration, after the annulment of June 12, 1993 general elections, which was won fair and square by the late Bashorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola and the attendant contraptions that followed suit.

The 1914 forced amalgamation of the different Nation states which made up Nigeria and the successive years of exploitation of the peoples of the Southern parts of Nigeria by firstly the British Colonialists and thereafter by a Feudal minority of the Northern part of Nigeria which has entrenched poverty, underdevelopment, mediocrity, unemployment, wanton killings, terrorism,  inequality, insecurity, injustice, ethnic Bigotry, religious fanaticism and breach of fundamental human rights.

The golden years of Nigeria were when we had The three regions, viz; Northern Region, Western Region and Eastern Region, with each region having its own Constitution which recognized the diversity in the culture, religion and peoples of Nigeria.

Nigeria as a Country also had its own Constitution.

Nigeria attained her independence from the British Colonialists in 1960 and became a Republic in 1963. We practiced Parliamentary system of government. There was an unfortunate military intervention in our national politics in 1966 and this was the time that a command structure unitary system of governance was smuggled into our politics, without the express consent of all ethnic nationalities.

A bitter Civil War was fought from 1967 to 1970 with millions of our people from Biafra massacred.

Since the end of the war the old eastern region have not been fully reintegrated into Nigeria. The declaration of no Victor, no Vanquished by the General Yakubu Gowon administration, was a mere lip service proclamation.

Successive military dictators ruled Nigeria from 1970 to 1979 when Nigeria introduced a purported Presidential System of Government in name, but which is unitary in character and practice.

The 1979 Constitution which was decreed into existence by General Olusegun Obasanjo was in operation from 1979 to 31st of December 1983 when Major General Muhammadu Buhari truncated our democracy.

The Major General Buhari’s regime, was also overthrown by General Ibrahim Babangida, who ruled from 27th of August 1985 until he was forced to step aside on the 26th of August 1993. A contraption called Interim National Government (ING) of Chief Earnest Adegunle Shonekan, was in power from 27th of August,1993 to 17th of November,1993 when General Sani Abacha seized power and ruled with an iron fist until he died on the 8th of June,1998 inside Aso Rock. General Abdulsalami Abubakar, another military dictator ruled Nigeria from the 9th of June 1998 to the 29th day of May 1999.

Nigeria has been operating a supposed Presidential system under the 1999 Constitution with successive Government's from Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to the current President; Major General Muhammadu Buhari. The presidential constitution, which is unitary in character, has failed the Peoples of Nigeria. We, The People, did not write this constitution. It is too expensive, wasteful, and has not represented the yearnings and expectations of the oppressed peoples of the Oduduwa and Biafra nations.

From all indications, the current leadership of Nigeria is not, and has never been committed to the fundamental objectives and directives of the principles of statehood, policies of Federalism as enshrined in Chapter II of the Constitution that it derived its powers from. Our peoples are tired of the terrorism, insecurity, hopelessness, injustice, killings, unemployment, inequality, corruption, scandals, violence, oppression, extortion, and repression.

Whereas, our peoples are entitled to their inherent inalienable rights to Self-determination and dignity of their persons in accordance with Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human and Peoples Rights of 1948; Article 20 of the African Charter on Human and People's Rights, Article 1 of the International Convention Civil and Political Rights and the International Convention on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. Our aspiration is to build a viable, democratic and stable Nation for our Peoples and in this regard, we demand that there must be a referendum, so that our peoples can freely and fairly make a democratic choice, whether they want to continue with Nigeria as presently configured or seek their right to Self-determination before the 2023 General elections.

In order to prevent an implosion of sorts, we, on behalf of our people, therefore demand a proper referendum/plebiscite, to be conducted between now and the 1st of October,2021, in accordance with the Rights of Indigenous Peoples' all over all over the world under The Law as provided in the AU and the United Nations charters, to be supervised by Both The AU and the United Nations.

Copies of this jointly signed Release have been sent to these world bodies.

If, as we believe, our people choose Self-determination, The Next Natural Step would be the immediate activation of the processes and modalities, beginning from the 2nd of October, 2021, for the creation of the Odùduwà and the Biafran Nations out of the present but otiose Nigerian experiment, which started in 1914.

We shall begin the mobilization of our respective peoples toward the actualization of the quest for freedom and life more abundant at a certain date in the future, when peaceful negotiations for applicable terms of separation would have been concluded with our respective residual ethnic nationalities and neighbors.

We wish to place on record our hope that Major General Buhari and his Fulani peoples of West Africa will heed this peaceful democratic demand in a timely manner. In the event our Forthright and Steadfast advocacy is denied, our peoples are hereby notified to commence preparations for series of passive activities that will demonstrate our resolve to be in control of our affairs. Towards this end, our peoples are hereby called upon to undertake the following:

1. Stay away from participation and involvement in any sham or nebulous October 1, 2020; 60th independence anniversary activities as may be mounted by the Unitary Government of Nigeria.

2. In specific terms, we hereby call on the peoples of our territories, and indeed all peoples of Nigeria yearning to be free from internal colonization to be prepared to Stay-At-Home on October 1, 2020. No one among us should play along with any celebration of 60 years of an imbalanced unequal country. Staying-At-Home means keeping safe and away for the inhuman and inhumane character of the present regime of Major General Buhari.

3. Our peoples in the diaspora are hereby enjoined to organize flag flying carnivals and peaceful rallies on October 1, 2020 in all cities across the world. A joint Biafra/Oduduwa event marking the beginning of our journey to freedom is to be celebrated into the following weeks. The whole world ought to witness a rekindling of self-awareness and our pride of place among the community of civilized peoples of the world.

4. All our peoples are to be on standby in readiness for further calls for peaceful and legal demonstrations of our resolve to be free from the failed Nigerian state. These calls will continue to be made for as long as it would be needful, up until our goals for self-determination are achieved.

We salute all of you our compatriots here at home and across the world.

Arewa Youth Consultative Forum seek inclusion of referendum in constitutional amendment

December 22, 2019 | The Biafra Times

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) says the inclusion of referendum clause in the constitutional amendment will pave the way for the restructuring of the country.

The National Assembly has been urged by the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) to include the referendum clause in the constitutional amendment to pave the way for the restructuring of the country.

Alhaji Shettima Yerima, the national chairman of the group, disagreed with the position of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration that only the National Assembly can restructure the country, The Nation reports.

Yerima explained that the only duty of the National Assembly is to include the provision of referendum in the constitution to allow the nation to carry out a nation-wide vote on restructuring reports from the 2014 conference or the report of any other conference as may be decided by Nigerians.

Lawyer defends CJN's call for constitutional amendment to accommodate Sharia law He criticised Nigerian past and present leaders for not including the referendum clause in the country’s several constitutions.

He said referendum would have guaranteed member-ethnic nations’ right of self-determination as contained in the United Nations’ Charter.

Yerima noted that the country would have been saved the violent effects of agitations by militant ethnic groups in the country and other secessionist groups if the referendum clause had been in the constitution.

He said the situation under the present political structure cannot change the high level of poverty ravaging the vast majority of Nigerians and the low level of development across the country.

The AYCF chairman pointed out that no amount of constitutional amendment by the National Assembly or bail-out to the states from the federal government would bring any significant improvement in the life of the people or improve infrastructural development unless the country carried out a fundamental restructuring.

In another news report, the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has demanded explanation from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the alleged arrest and humiliation of northerners resident in Lagos state.

In a statement made available to Legit.ng on Monday, December 9, and signed by its president, Yerima Shettima, the group also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call the governor to order.

The group accused the state of hounding the northerners, mostly commercial motorcyclists, with the state's task force, who go to the homes of the residents at odd hours to effect arrest.

The Choice of Biafra Referendum Over Nigeria Election

February 14, 2019

By Desmond Ajah | For Biafra Writers

It is sympathetic to note that the fictional leaders-of-tomorrow in Nigeria who are currently the victims of absolute deprivation, still go about in a visionless manner, giving the shifty politicians responsible for their misery, continued backing to continue in their savagery in the name of getting Nigeria “working again” or “moving to the next level.”

Do you get Nigeria working again when all the ports in the entire Biafran region are deliberately closed down in order to emasculate the economy of Biafra? If the previous level was catastrophic, imagine what the next level would be. Do you propose a next level when the Eastern region is deliberately denied international airports just to discourage economic activities in Biafra?

Do you speak about one-Nigeria when there’s a deliberate effort to ensure there’s no working rail line in Biafra? Do you get Nigeria working again when our people die on daily basis and goods worth billions destroyed because the roads are death traps?

Surprisingly, some gullible ones who receive campaign T-shirts, caps, tomato pastes, and cups of rice have in their stupidity, gone to advocate for the election of these criminals under the same fraudulent system. Some have continued to blindly root for these betrayers and prodigal politicians who trade with our collective joy and destinies for their selfish political interests.

These criminal politicians come up every electioneering period to make empty promises of restructuring, job creation, security, economic advancement etc. Let’s not be too quick to forget the empty campaign promise of 2015 by the late Buhari and the APC, of 5,000 Naira monthly stipend for the unemployed graduates but which was never fulfilled and which has been swept aside.

But come February and March, we will all have the opportunity to prove to the world our resoluteness on the Biafran struggle. The day we must take a bold stand for our future and the future of our unborn children. As they say, a man is not measured by his stand in time of certainty but rather in time of uncertainty and discomfort. The time of discomfort is now which many people are in a dilemma, whether to choose referendum and eternal freedom or to choose a paltry sum of money which they will receive in their various polling units to jeopardize their future.

Biafrans must remain resolute in this quest for Biafra by boycotting the fraudulent colonial Nigeria and its shambolic elections. This is because our tomorrow is assured if we stand boldly to defend Biafra today against all odds.

Biafra referendum and Biafran sovereignty is the only means of redemption and the ultimate solution to the mess that we have found ourselves in. Biafra is where our revolution will not only heal our collective misery and deprivation caused by the Nigerian state but will be a total revolution for the benefit of all citizens of Biafra and indeed those of the African continent.

Biafra will not only bring the dividends of democracy – employment, security, upliftment etc but will be a land working for all citizens, both the leaders and the led. It will be a nation where politicians will not campaign with sachets of salt and empty promises during electioneering periods. If this is a chance we should give to anyone, it is a chance we must give ourselves to restore Biafra. It is an opportunity for our names to be written in Gold in Biafraland as that generation which stood its ground to demand for its rights. We must boycott Nigeria’s sham elections as it is a price to pay for our referendum and ultimately, freedom.

We must boycott their deceptive tactics of using the prodigal son - Peter Obi, against the general wish of the people for freedom. We must boycott endless deceptive promises of restructuring which never comes. We must boycott deceptive promises of 2023 presidency. We must boycott the double-standards of our gullible politicians, who accept their divide-and-rule schemes of South-South and South-East introduced to further divide our people.

We are not just boycotting the Elections in the Islamic Republic of Nigeria because it has foreigners as its main Presidential candidates and because the system is entirely fraudulent, but because we have chosen Biafra over Nigeria in order to do away with the entire fraud which made it possible for such a shambolic system to ever exist.

Biafra: IPOB announces date for Biafra referendum

The Biafra Times | January 29, 2019

IPOB Press Release

We the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to announce officially to the people of Biafra both home and in the diaspora, friends of Biafra and lovers of freedom that our supreme leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is currently in London to join his family and see a newborn child he hadn't seen because of his illegal incarceration and detention since 2015. He will also discuss with IPOB top family members in London to finalize the way forward for Biafra referendum that will hold on February 16, 2019, along with the Nigeria presidential poll.

IPOB Leader  Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,'s relocation to the United Kingdom from his base in Israel was actually to perfect arrangements on Biafra referendum scheduled to hold 16th February 2019 to ascertain number of those who want Nigeria politics and those who want Biafra freedom through a peaceful and democratic process for the sovereignty of our dear nation Biafra. Our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is currently meeting with IPOB high command in Europe to perfect plans for the referendum which will go side by side with the February 16 presidential poll.

On Friday last week our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu arrived Leeds airport in England where our Deputy leader Mazi Uche Mefor and other top IPOB members based in the UK received him.
IPOB leader and other top IPOB high command are expected to meet with European Union ( EU) officials to gather more international support for the Biafra proposal. Recently Mazi Nnamdi Kanu had been holding "useful  talks" with a number of diplomats on a successful referendum bids for Biafra on 16 February 2019, and we can assure you that the majority of them have given their assurances and the proposal has received tremendous support from many  key allies who see self-determination for Biafra as the best solution to the present Nigeria problem.

The details and outcome of the referendum on Saturday 16th February will determine the position of Biafra people in the coming weeks. The test will be side by side with Nigeria presidential election next month to examine how many people boycotted the forthcoming presidential election. On the format of the referendum, the planned boycott of the forthcoming presidential election would be a barometer to measure those who want Biafra and those who want to remain in Nigeria. The success of the sit-at-home order during the presidential poll in Biafra land will be a confirmation that Biafra is no longer under the bondage of one Nigeria. The truth is that by the time Nigeria will wake from the looming political crisis she will only discover that Biafra is already a sovereign nation.

We are sure for peaceful and rancour-free referendum because international observers and media platforms will be on ground to monitor the exercise on that day. It is important we remind Nigerians once again that the on-going political developments in the country only confirm that Nigeria cannot work together as one country and Biafra must be a sovereign nation.

COMRADE EMMA POWERFUL MEDIA AND PUBLICITY SECRETARY FOR IPOB.

2019: ‘We won’t accept anything less than referendum’ – IPOB elders, veterans insists

...Shuns Nwodo on restructuring

By Chukwuemeka Chimerue, Chief Editor | The Biafra Times

December 17, 2018

ONITSHA – ELDERS of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in Ikeabiama zone, Nkpor, has insisted that elections ‘won’t hold in Biafraland’ unless a credible referendum process is conducted in Nigeria to determine the fate of inhabitants of the country.

Veteran Amobi Ikenweilo who spoke on behalf of the elders made this known yesterday at the IPOB elders/veterans’ end of the year meeting in Onitsha.

The elders also tackled the President-General of the pan-Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo over his stance on restructuring, saying that Nigeria is dead and has damaged beyond repair.

According to Ikenweilo, “We’re telling the world that we the elders stand on referendum. Whatever they do or wherever they go, we all still insist on referendum. We, the elders of Ikeabiama are solidly behind Nnamdi Kanu in everything he does.

“We participated and fought during the Biafra war and we shot at our enemies and we are still alive and ready to shoot guns again if need be. We are standing behind the decision of Nnamdi Kanu.

“Nigeria is a dead country just like Sodom and Gomorrah and there is nothing anyone can do to have it repaired. We don’t want anything less than referendum. Any condition they like, let them give us but we won’t go back on that so long we get Biafra.”

On restructuring, the elders said, “Nnia Nwodo has been running around to get restructuring but he has failed. There’s nothing like restructuring; it’s dead. During the war, Nwodo’s father was a saboteur and we know him, his name is in our list, we have his record.

“We have the record of those who betrayed us during the war, including those (Late Chukwuemeka) Ojukwu gave huge sums of money to acquire weapons in Gabon and they ran away with it. When the right time comes, we shall call out and punish accordingly, those who have sabotaged this struggle in one way or another.”

Earlier during the meeting, the Anambra State Coordinator, Mr. Onwuatuegwu charged the elders to remain strong and resolute in their respective duties despite the machinations of the enemies.

‘Atikulation’: Frustration and Desperation makes a grown-up appear stupid in thinking

By Onoja Christian Obinna | For Biafra Writers

October 9, 2018

It’s been a rough and tough atmosphere for all and sundry since 2015 till date hence, frustration has gripped the heart of many which have ignited their desperation to a 101% level turning even the supposed most ‘educated’ lots foolish and stupid in matters where common sense should be applied.

The wave of elections is on the air once again in the enclave called Nigeria, heralding another four years of subjugation and slavery; a period when the hallowed slaves files out in their numbers to decide who next becomes their slave master without thinking out the modalities to become free for the rest of their lives.

The frenzy and echoes of political parties and their candidates has become the other of the day that the dead (Nigerians) suddenly appears not to remember how they got to where they are presently and how it all happened before they arrived at their present predicaments rather they have decided to wave away the lessons of the past and that which is trespassing now to sing another song of “ATIKULATION” after shouting “Sai Baba” which will still bury them in TRIBULATION in no distant time.

Since I grew up, I have always heard that change is the only constant phenomenon in life whereas other things are perhaps static but I as well have never seen or heard that the devil changed rather the devil have always proven it’s static nature in applying different strategies to making people forget the pains it afflicted them in the past by falsely presenting a rosy future of total destruction before them (the case of Buhari and Atiku during the 2015 and 2019 elections respectively).

Common thought would have told anyone who cares to understand that no Nigerian politician have the populace in mind nor has the magic wand to turn things around. All they do is to capitalize on the mistakes and/or failures (incompetence) of the incumbent to lure the people into believing or supporting them by offering the people some mouth-watering promises without a prototype on how to go about or achieve such promises.

Atiku have come to sing the song of restructuring which John Nnia Nwodo, the president of Igbo sociopolitical group, Ohaneze Ndigbo, taught him without properly defining the type of ‘Restructuring’ he would likely embark on just as Buhari and his cohorts sang the song of ‘Change’ as was introduced by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the patron of All Progressives Congress (APC) party in 2015 which landed Nigeria into the list of countries suffering from poverty and recession today.

Conflict of Interest Already In Play

Whereas the Atikulated Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the current Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s presidential flagbearer for next year’s election is busy singing the song of ‘no prototype’ Restructuring. Many of his timid supporters who are unemployed graduates are busy singing the song of employment hoping that he is setting in to create employment opportunities for them to seat under air-conditioned rooms as employees; forgetting that before now, the man, Atiku owns so many firms (Intel inclusive) that are capable of employing many of the suffering unemployed youths both inside and outside Nigeria but how many times have his company advertised for an open, free and fair employment since it’s establishment? If your answer is on the negative, what then makes you think that he will change even when he becomes the president? No wonder Buhari referred them as “Lazy Nigerian Youths”.

It is high time all the people entrapped in this British business container called Nigeria start to reason with their brains and fight for a way to break the chain of colonization that Britain left hanging on Nigeria’s necks by unanimously demanding for a true internationally supervised Referendum as demanded by the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to earnestly know the mind of the common man in Nigeria.

Nigerians all over the world are seen differently from other citizens of the world as evil and dangerous people to be with only because of the greedy nature and stupidity of the Nigerian political class, yet the people even the so-called elites have chosen to live with such stigma instead of standing out for the truth for the benefit of all.

Youths on the other hand have been mowed into selling their future for political crumbs by turning them into political thugs, killers and criminals as would be witnessed in no distant time as election days approaches.

Freedom is the most valuable gift anyone can get on earth, so therefore, let everyone join hands with IPOB to secure freedom for all in Nigeria and Africa at large.

#Say no to 2019 elections
#Say yes to Referendum for Freedom of all.

2019: Voters Are To Be Blamed For Killings In Nigeria

By Eluwa Chidiebere Chinazu | For Biafra Writers

September 17, 2018

Political campaigns have zoomed off in preparation for next year’s general elections in Nigeria. The contracted campaigners have commenced singing the ‘every-four-year’ dubious song (which has now gone out of tune) for these selfish and corruption-personified candidates cutting across major political parties in the country. These parties are stocked with selfish and corrupt political activists schooled in the mastery of enhancing corruption in Nigeria with little or no regards for the beleaguered citizens they swore to serve. Today, corruption in Nigeria is so endemic that it fights back in ten folds to anyone who claims to fight against it.

Political organizations since independence have maintained ‘acting as comfort zones’ for criminals in the society and to an extent, a fiefdom for money ritualists. However, it is mind-boggling to accept the fact that these poor citizens have failed to embrace reasons why they should not vote-in activists thoroughbred in these corrupt political organizations. What can the reasonable ones do than to fold hands and spectate as they are been destroyed by the same sword they helped cast.

Nigeria from inception is a land where the worst is not bad enough, where a brigade of corrupt political parties and individual groups mindlessly defecate on the polity. With unsheathed swords, they banish civility and celebrate criminality. Their saints and scholars end up behind bars while their lazy-poor citizens waste away senselessly. In such a country, those hungry for justice die of starvation and intimidation. In such a society, it is only the mad people that can be considered well. The legislatures legislate misery for the poor while the executives decree and execute pauperism for the lowly ones. Fortunately for these politicians, these same subjugated and enslaved citizens are not relenting a bit in voting them in every four years.

During the build-up to the 2015 presidential election, the supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party, accused the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for incompetency in office. The epic reason been that he failed to curb the menace of the Boko Haram terrorist group. PDP’s inability to curtail the killings is what was believed to have paved way for APC’s victory at the polls. Supporters of PDP were of the opinion that APC stalwarts, particularly those of northern extraction were masterminding the killings perpetrated by the terrorist sect in order to perpetuate themselves into power. Now as APC is in power, the killings have worsened. PDP supporters, in turn, have labelled APC as being incompetent for not curbing the spate of killings orchestrated by Fulani herdsmen in the country. APC supporters just like PDP, are of the same opinion that PDP is behind the activities of Fulani herdsmen. Reason being that PDP wants to come back to power. And the one question begging for an answer is to what end will all these ‘politricks’ stop?

In view of all these shenanigans or will l say political maneuverings, it is evidently clear that whatever be the case, it is the poor citizens that are been killed to achieve political goals in Nigeria and unfortunately they are the same people who participate in electoral process and in voting these cunning, insincere and dispassionate politicians to power. If we are to go by the supporters’ opinions, it provides that Nigerians are in the era of political terrorism to cling to power. Above all, these citizens are on a voyage to vote them in. Going by the experiences gathered these past years, no political party will rule Nigeria that will bring the killings to an abrupt end.

To the citizens, it is the way you make your bed that you lie on it. Voters are busy fetching an ant-infested firewood, when the lizards come, they should not complain. An animal that was once caught by a trap sees a bent stick and takes to his heels. It is not good to try your luck with what you know that it is destructive. Stop plunging the people to calamity by going out to vote. The solution lies in referendum. Remember, it is only a fool that takes a wrong idea to be the best idea.

Biafra: Some pro-Biafra groups, too ignorant and naive to understand happenings between IPOB and Ohanaeze Ndigbo - IPOB Thunders

Jeff Amechi Agbodo, Onitsha | Published on Biafra Times

August 8, 2018

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), yesterday said the group is a transparent organisation rooted in the fanatical ideology of Biafra restoration via referendum as preached by its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The group said IPOB is not for restructuring and can never be, as alleged in some quarters.

The Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful, while reacting to a report credited to the leader of Biafra Zoinist, Benjamin Onwuka alleging that IPOB has been bought over to accept restructuring against the struggle for restoration of Biafra, said IPOB still remains in the forefront of the struggle for Biafra, more than those who claim to be what they are not in the struggle.

Powerful said the civil disobedience approach would continue until Biafra is restored, saying no man, government harassment, intimidation, arrest, can stop it from the pursuit of referendum for Biafraexit.

He said: “Agents of Nigerian security agencies, hiding under the cloak of pro-Biafra group or groups are too impetuous, ignorant and naive to understand what is happening between IPOB and Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

“At the end of the dialogue between us, Ohanaeze Ndigbo will either live up to its obligations of rigorous defence of Igbo- Biafra interest or be rendered impotent and irrelevant. Those are the two choices confronting them.

“IPOB does not respond to those who masquerade as freedom fighters. There’s an Igbo adage that says not every rain that falls deserves to have its water collected.

“Biafra restoration is not about publicity stunts or making outlandishly ridiculous statements to the media to attract attention.

“It is an indictment of character of desperation in some individuals that they feel compelled to meddle in issues that are clearly above their station.

“IPOB is the largest mass movement in the world, we don’t respond to every passing rant from desperate individuals without any following.

“We recognise the appeal commenting about what IPOB related matters may have on any attention seeking individual to raise their profile for whatever self-serving motive they wish to accomplish.

“There are bound to be in every society, shameless self-publicists that will say or do anything to make them feel noticed.

“It is actually a state of mental disorder. Such individuals are opportunistic, fake and lacking in self confidence,” Powerful stated

Igbo Presidency: Your narrative that Buhari will cede power to S’East, biggest joke of the century - ILT fires back at Osita Okechukwu

•Says Igbos, not deceived by antics of a northern slave seeking to please his masters

By Chukwuemeka Chimerue, Chief Editor | The Biafra Times

July 31, 2018

ENUGU - The Igbo Leaders of Thought, ILT, led by renowned constitutional lawyer, Professor Ben Nwabueze, has rubbished an ardent Buhari supporter cum Director General, Voice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu over his comments against the decision of the Igbo elders who routed for restructuring of the country rather than Igbo presidency.

Okechukwu who picked holes with the rejection of President Muhammadu Buhari’s promise of 2023 Igbo presidency by the elders, said Ndigbo needed Presidency to end cries of marginalisation.

But in a swift reaction on Monday, the founder of Igbo Youth Movement, IYM, cum Deputy Secretary, Igbo Leaders of Thought, ILT, Evangelist Elliot Ugochukwu-Uko, dismissed Okechukwu’s comments as the biggest joke of the century, even as he seriously questioned his state of mental health over such claims.

Uko said it is only unapologetic Igbo slaves such as Joe Igbokwe, Lauretta Onochie and Osita Okechukwu would readily rush to the media to counter the decisions of Igbo elders adjudged by many to be the truth only to please their northern masters, wondering if such notorious exhibitions was a precondition for their appointment into government offices.

READ ALSO: Kunle Olasanmi’s piece, a ploy by FG to re-arrest our recently released members - IPOB

He, however, reiterated that “the infantile narrative that Buhari would grant Ndigbo the presidency of Nigeria in 2023 is a narrative from the pit of hell.

“How Okechukwu truly believes that he could use such unintelligible gibberish to fool the great Igbo nation remains a mystery to all.

“How Buhari, whose hatred for Ndigbo is legendary and so deep for all to see, would hand Nigeria over to Ndigbo in 2023 according to Okechukwu, has become the most popular joke of the year to millions of Igbo masses, who are seriously questioning the state of Okechukwu’s mental health.
“When will Okechukwu realize that he is entertaining the humiliated, alienated, much abused but highly intelligent Ndigbo. When will Okechukwu realize that he is merely speaking to himself and probably deceiving his masters in the bargain.

“It is a pity that anytime credible Igbo leaders show the way forward in order to save this tottering edifice called Nigeria, only our brethren in the service of outsiders, will quickly rubbish our leaders in their shameless scramble to impress their masters in order to retain their jobs.

“Government official spokesmen will keep quiet, government officials from other geopolitical zones will also keep quiet in respect of the truth presented by the Igbo leaders, only Joe Igbokwe, Lauretta Onochie or Osita Okechukwu will jump up to rubbish Igbo leaders.

“One wonders whether tearing their own leaders to pieces, was a precondition for their appointments and accommodation in government.

“Okechukwu should remember that there is life after Buhari’s APC government. Okechukwu should study history and note the fate of the Ndigbo who were hired by other zones to attack Zik and the NCNC in the first republic.

“Presenting one’s talents and energy in service of outsiders to decimate the aspiration of one’s rationality is not an honourable way for anyone to be remembered by history.

Okechukwu should take heed and stop the over played card of always rubbishing his people’s position.

“Okechukwu should note that nobody in his proper state of mind believes that Buhari, who vehemently refused to appoint any Igbo into the security architecture of over 100 Nigerians, would suddenly hand power over to Ndigbo. Okechukwu should stop entertaining the public with his unbelievable fairy tales. The esteemed Igbo leaders of Thought (ILT) spoke the truth. Okechukwu's disagreement with that truth is only his usual antics to please his masters.”

Nigerian Politicians, Modern Agents of the British Empire; Reasons Nigerian Citizens Should Support Biafra Referendum

By Eluwa Chidiebere Chinazu | Biafra Writers.

July 20, 2018

In today's Nigeria, the educational system churns out half-baked scholars (graduates) that end up parading themselves as professors. By virtue of their certified intelligence, they go about bragging to be think-tanks that have the solution to Nigeria's innumerable problems cheaply at their palms. These softheaded professors lack common sense or what is called rudimentary. Their knowledge is more or less, a venom to the people.

A Biafran proverb tells us that: "A man who does not know where the rain wetted him will never know where he got dried up." A retrospect to history will dawn on us the like rain that has drenched Nigeria today. The latter was ensued by the predatory gathering of the world's leading European powers called the Berlin Conference of 1885. Like the great literary icon, Chinua Achebe would always put it (that), "in the Berlin conference, Britain was handed the area of West Africa that would later become Nigeria, like a piece of chocolate cake at a birthday party. This was as a result of the critical state British economy was then. Their mission was simple - annex West Africa, divide them, colonize them and extort them.

When the British colonialists rolled out their tanks off the shores of West Africa (as requested by America) albeit what is known today by erudite professors as 'Flag Independence,' they left a very crooked and delicate political atmosphere rather than inculcating civilisation. That was in a sure bid to have a corrupt and unprincipled structure that will enable them an easy passage to milking the country dry. It is this structure that corrupted the innocent ethnic groups and indigenous peoples therein. Our ancestors were more political administrators than the idiots that fought for independence. The unprincipled politicians of today are the elements of the broken structure called Nigeria.

READ ALSO: Nigeria Elections: No Amount of PVC can Defeat Buhari's APC Coalition of INEC, Army and Police

To put a halt to the daring miseries of the indigenous peoples trapped in Nigeria, viz: mass killings of the citizenry, looting of national treasuries, infrastructural impoverishment, et cetera, one needs to delve into the foundation of the "Lugardian Empire" (Nigeria); because upon the same lies the elusive, barefaced devilment, bedevilling its inhabitants.

A popular saying goes, "When two elephants fight, the grasses suffer the quake." In relation to the state of Nigeria, whenever there is a political conflict or disagreement between two parties, the most aggressive side, in a bid to quell their opponent, would have subscribed to the killing of innocent citizens at the end the day. It is very clear that all the pain is that of the poor citizens to bear. The citizens have lost their homes and means of making ends meet. Salaries are withheld by the ruling class. No electricity. People die of curable illness due to inadequate, substandard hospital facilities and equipments; and all these have been ongoing since independence till date. Indeed, Nigeria is living in the 'Dark Ages'.

READ ALSO: Biafra Referendum Is The Panacea, Not Igbo Presidency Nor Second Niger Bridge

Nigeria has failed to work. Of course, incompatible things cannot exist 'pari passu' (harmoniously). When an engine incurs a mechanical fault, you pick up its manual in order to proffer the possible solution.  Therefore, there is need to dig up the past events that gave rise to our today. There were kingdoms like the Kanem Bornu, Fulani Empire, the Nok kingdom, Oyo and Ife together as one, Calabar and the Great Nri kingdom living as one lovely united family also. I will not forget the Bini kingdom which was living unhindered.

Nigeria should be subjected to referendum for her distinct ethnic groups to trace their way back to their natural root. Unless this is done, the innocent citizens will keep on dying at the expense of the conflicts ensuing from the political sector. This is a duty that rests on the shoulder of every Nigerian citizen. The citizens should not wait for the politicians because they will never accept the truth but will cover and treat it with kid's glove.

For politicians, what they need is election but for the citizens, what they need is a referendum to decide.

Support Biafra referendum today to enhance the freedom of millions of citizens yet to be massacred. Who knows, next might be you or me as citizens, not politicians.

Nigeria's Innumerable Diseases, Curable Only Through Referendum

By Eluwa Chidiebere Chinazu | For Biafra Writers

July 8, 2018

There are times in life when we have to take critical decisions not because we want to, but because we have to. This is the present condition of things in Nigeria for the different ethnic groups that make up constituents of the country.

The recent events in the country leaves us with huge food for thought. Since independence, the story of Nigeria has never been positively interesting. The late literary icon, Prof. Chinua Achebe recounting the events of the year 1966, six years after Nigeria's independence and three years of Biafra's nationhood, said: "l simply could not bring myself to accept that l could no longer live in my nation's capital, although the facts clearly said so. My feeling towards Nigeria was one of profound disappointment. Not because mobs were hunting down and killing innocent civilians in many parts, especially in the North, but because the federal government sat by and let it happen." (Culled from 'There Was A Country'. Pg. 71).

Fifty years on and we are still at the same crossroads witnessing the same old scenario that brought about the disintegration of the once British colonised entity. It was Sunny Okosun who once sang: "Which Way Nigeria," which way to go? This was the clear picture of Nigeria then, now and tomorrow. A picture of a confused and lost country. Lacking vision, purpose and good prospects for its citizens.

Many factors can be responsible ranging from the stupidity of the ruling class, the foolishness of the religious bigots, the blind enthusiasm of ethnic suspicion and mistrust, high illiteracy of literate class, gross illiteracy of the illiterate class and chiefly the amalgamation of incompatible ethnic nations.

READ ALSO: Biafra: Restructuring Or Referendum? A Critical Look Towards Solving The Issue Of Agitations In Nigeria

If after over fifty years, Nigeria cannot boast of achieving the fundamental dreams of the independence fighters/fathers, it means that either there were no dreams at all, or the dreams are forgotten or it was a nightmare and not dreams at all. Nigeria in its near 58 years cannot confidently single out a year without ethnic or regional tension and bloodbath. This suggests that Nigeria was never meant to be, not a nation or a state.

The problem of Nigeria is a foundational issue, some may call it structural problem or imbalance. The Bible rightly said: "Foundation once destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Ps 11:3)". A forced marriage as in the case of Nigeria, that lacks good marital foundation called love, only breeds mistrust, misunderstanding, battering, marginalization, infidelity, constant suspicion and the worst being death which can best be resolved through divorce. The same is the condition of Nigeria and its amalgamation.

The marriage of the over 250 ethnic groups was forced and borne out of selfish interests of its creators not out of love or desire to see the constituent nations progress. The consent of the individual ethnic groups was not sought by the colonialists and creators of Nigeria. This is why it is today, a messy, failed marriage due for breakup or divorce.

READ ALSO: Biafra And Its Rich Agricultural Potentials, Why We Need To Vote For Referendum

The bloodbath, mindless killings, tensions, ethnic crises and genocide/cleansing are only but symptoms of the real disease - incompatibility. This is the killer disease decimating Nigeria and shredding her into pieces today. No matter the curative approaches, it has continued to fester and deteriorate due to wrong diagnosis and administration of ineffective and impotent curative measures. The disease is surely not incurable, no, only that the wrong medication is being prescribed whereas this disease has only one authentic medicine - secession/divorce/separation via the instrument of referendum. Until we genuinely apply this cure, just as couples in a forced marriage continues to have difficulties, so will the Nigerian problems continue to persist.
The bloodbath in the Middle-Belt is not only a repeat of history, it is also a sign of greater danger to come. Nigerians need not be told that time is now ripe for division into separate sovereign nations. When children come of age in my culture, parents allow them to go and form their own families. This is the meaning of independence. In case of battering in marriage, the couple are separated to save lives and not forced to live in peace. Anything artificial (inorganic) remains artificial. Nigeria should quit forcing or shoving unity down our throats.

My clarion call to the Biafrans and well-meaning Nigerians is for all to wake up and shake the foundation of Nigeria to see the artificial stuffs it is made up of which is detrimental to our safety and progress as a young generation who has found themselves in such eureka moment in life. It is time to confront the Nigerian reality with the truth. It is only the truth that will save us. The Nigerian polygamous marriage called the Nigerian project is a total flaw right from its foundation. No amount of cosmetic decoration will save a failed project. Hence, we need to revisit the foundation to separate the incompatible ethnic groups, so they can be able to decide their future on their own without undue external interference.
