Biafra: IPOB revokes ceasefire, suspends further meeting with Ohanaeze, S-East govs over insincerity to implement demands

IPOB Press Release | Published By The Biafra Times

August 10, 2018

Following the inability of Ohaneze Ndigbo and South East governors to de-proscribe the activities of IPOB in line with the stated objectives of the Prof. Ben Nwabueze convened peace initiative, the leadership of IPOB hereby suspend, with immediate effect, any future contact or participation in meetings involving Ohaneze Ndigbo leadership or South East governors. The ceasefire announced as a gesture of goodwill after the first Enugu meeting is now officially revoked with no hope of future reinstatement.

Mindful of posterity and our deep respect for Prof. Nwabueze, who personally pleaded that we suspend all negative comments and verbal attacks against Ohaneze Ndigbo. We duly obliged by announcing a binding cessation of all hostilities against corrupt Igbo leaders despite the fact they knowingly and actively connived with Fulani overlords to kill IPOB activists, invade the home of our leader with the intention to kill him out of petty jealousy over his popularity and acceptance by the people. That our leader and his parents are still missing is a direct consequence of the connivance of Igbo leaders with their Fulani masters to destroy the agitation for Biafra.

IPOB towed this path of peaceful dialogue because of our deep respect for our more honourable and truthful elders whose wise counsel compelled us to give peace a chance. What has transpired over the past two months, culminating in the failed meeting of the 8th of August 2018 in Enugu, have clearly demonstrated the unwillingness of Ohaneze Ndigbo and South East governors to breakaway from their slavish master-servant relationship with the Fulani caliphate. These unrepentant collaborators and instigators of Operation Python Dance abused the privilege IPOB ceasefire afforded them by seeking to turn the meeting into an endorsement of an Igbo candidate for PDP vice presidential slot in the coming 2019 elections.

Under such circumstance, we felt the meeting had lost its purpose hence the need for us to pull out of any talks which consequently brought the entire process to an end.

As a result of these meetings, any lingering doubt that Ohaneze Ndigbo, South East governors and some Abuja based political jobbers instigated Operation Python Dance, has been dispelled by their inability to lift the proscription they themselves imposed on IPOB. Fulani governors of the north never proscribed murderous Boko Haram or Fulani terror herdsmen but Igbo governors and politicians hastily proscribed the only movement, IPOB, fighting for the masses because they want to continue enjoying Abuja patronage. As the masses continue to wallow in abject poverty and oppression, these Igbo sell-out leaders, their families and cronies will continue to live large courtesy of their all powerful Fulani masters who can make or break them.

Having dutifully attended three meetings in the past 7 weeks with nothing to show for it, these collaborators and traitors have become more emboldened in their subterfuge to the extent of boasting to observers sent by Aso Rock to the Enugu meeting of the 8th of August that IPOB has been thoroughly weakened and reduced to begging to be de-proscribed.

Sadly, some of the attendees of the shameful emergency Igbo elders meeting convened to endorse Operation Python Dance at Nike Lake Resort a day after the deadly invasion of Afaraukwu by Nigerian soldiers were also present at the Enugu meeting. In due course, we shall hold them accountable for their actions. They lacked the courage then to issue a statement condemning Operation Python Dance and they still do so till today because they were all in the know or actively involved in the planning of the massacre of their own people because of money.

It has dawned on the worldwide family of IPOB that this well-intended peaceful dialogue, from inception, was a fraud, a charade and political subterfuge designed to get IPOB to participate in 2019 elections and nothing more. Ohaneze Ndigbo and their allies in Abuja saw it as an opportunity to prove to their northern Fulani controllers that they are still in charge of the South East. Nothing could be further from the truth. IPOB is the people and the people is IPOB.
This game plan of seeking to subdue IPOB through a series of endless and meaningless meetings in the name of forging a common front or lasting peace is dead on arrival. IPOB will no longer participate in any meeting or dialogue involving Ohaneze Ndigbo. They mistook our magnanimity for weakness. That, unfortunately, is the greatest mistake they would ever make in their lives.

This bunch will go down as the worst set of leaders in the history of the Igbo race. For 48 years they have been actively involved in trading the future of their children and unborn generations for peanuts. Under their stewardship, nothing worthwhile has been accomplished for the masses since after the war. They are ravenous, predatory and devoid of conscience. We gave them an opportunity to redeem themselves but they failed woefully. This generation of IPOB and history shall judge them very harshly.

Henceforth, anybody seeking to deal with IPOB must contact our world headquarters in Germany where their enquiry will be directed to the appropriate quarters. We would no longer recognise any third party involvement. This will ensure we avoid a repeat of what just transpired with this failed dialogue with Ohaneze Ndigbo.

We wish to thank Prof. Nwabueze immensely for all his efforts and to convey our deep appreciation, regard and respect for him. We also urge him to hold tenaciously to his publicly stated stance that de-proscription of IPOB and the whereabouts of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a prerequisite for any peaceful settlement. IPOB hereby reinstate it's avowed commitment to conduct a referendum as soon as possible.

COMRADE EMMA POWERFUL MEDIA AND PUBLICITY SECRETARY FOR IPOB.

Biafra: Some pro-Biafra groups, too ignorant and naive to understand happenings between IPOB and Ohanaeze Ndigbo - IPOB Thunders

Jeff Amechi Agbodo, Onitsha | Published on Biafra Times

August 8, 2018

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), yesterday said the group is a transparent organisation rooted in the fanatical ideology of Biafra restoration via referendum as preached by its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The group said IPOB is not for restructuring and can never be, as alleged in some quarters.

The Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful, while reacting to a report credited to the leader of Biafra Zoinist, Benjamin Onwuka alleging that IPOB has been bought over to accept restructuring against the struggle for restoration of Biafra, said IPOB still remains in the forefront of the struggle for Biafra, more than those who claim to be what they are not in the struggle.

Powerful said the civil disobedience approach would continue until Biafra is restored, saying no man, government harassment, intimidation, arrest, can stop it from the pursuit of referendum for Biafraexit.

He said: “Agents of Nigerian security agencies, hiding under the cloak of pro-Biafra group or groups are too impetuous, ignorant and naive to understand what is happening between IPOB and Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

“At the end of the dialogue between us, Ohanaeze Ndigbo will either live up to its obligations of rigorous defence of Igbo- Biafra interest or be rendered impotent and irrelevant. Those are the two choices confronting them.

“IPOB does not respond to those who masquerade as freedom fighters. There’s an Igbo adage that says not every rain that falls deserves to have its water collected.

“Biafra restoration is not about publicity stunts or making outlandishly ridiculous statements to the media to attract attention.

“It is an indictment of character of desperation in some individuals that they feel compelled to meddle in issues that are clearly above their station.

“IPOB is the largest mass movement in the world, we don’t respond to every passing rant from desperate individuals without any following.

“We recognise the appeal commenting about what IPOB related matters may have on any attention seeking individual to raise their profile for whatever self-serving motive they wish to accomplish.

“There are bound to be in every society, shameless self-publicists that will say or do anything to make them feel noticed.

“It is actually a state of mental disorder. Such individuals are opportunistic, fake and lacking in self confidence,” Powerful stated

Herdsmen Killings: Ohanaeze blows alarm over impending attacks on Enugu communities

...Says Miyetti Allah’s allegations, unsubstantiated

By Chukwuemeka Chimerue, Chief Editor, The Biafra Times

July 6, 2018

ENUGU - The leadership of the Enugu State chapter of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has raised alarm over plans by killer Fulani herdsmen to attack some communities in the State.

In a press statement released on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, and signed by its state president, Chief Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, the umbrella Igbo group accused the leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in the State for spearheading the impending attack over unsubstantiated claims of theft of cows and death of some herders.

It stated that the areas tipped for attack by the herdsmen includes Amagunze, Okpanku and Affa communities, adding that it has already alerted security agencies and other similar bodies in the state to swing into action.

The statement reads that: “In the past couple of days, we have been treated to a cocktail of killings by Fulani herdsmen in several places in the Middle Belt region of Nigeria particularly the latest carnage in Plateau State. While we condemn this wanton destruction of life and property of innocent Nigerians by bands of suspected Fulani herdsmen, we are more worried that the Federal Government and indeed the entire security architecture in the country have done very little to stop this menace.

“It is indeed disturbing that many communities in Nigeria are now potential targets for these herdsmen. Because the Federal Government and the security network have been less than effective in containing this mayhem and these herdsmen appear emboldened to put so many communities at risk.

“Today, more than ever before, Fulani herdsmen have shown brazen disregard to people’s farmlands and crops as they move about with their herds of cattle.

“Enugu State, once a theatre of this carnage, is at present, come under the murderous radar of these herdsmen again. As at today, no fewer than five communities are living in fear of herdsmen attack because of one allegation or the other by the leadership of Miyetti Allah in Enugu.

“Their latest allegation is that some persons suspected to be Fulani herdsmen were killed or that some of their cows are missing.

“At present, Amagunze community in Nkanu-East Local Government Area, Okpanku in Aninri Local Government Area and Affa community in Udi Local Government Area all in Enugu State are at grave risk and danger of herdsmen attack following allegations by the leadership of Miyetti Allah that some of their cows are missing in these communities and that some Fulani were killed.

“Affa community, for instance, has been mandated by these herdsmen to pay a ransom of N2 million as compensation for the alleged missing cows out of which N600,000 has been paid.

“It is on the basis of the foregoing that we call the attention of the Federal Government, Enugu State Government, the Nigerian Army (especially 82 Division of the Nigerian Army), Enugu State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies in the country, especially in Enugu State, to the impending danger of massive attack by these Fulani herdsmen on some communities in Enugu State.”

Ogbonnia stressed that though none of these allegations by Miyetti Allah leadership in Enugu had been substantiated, “it is remarkable that this was the same flimsy reason given for the gruesome attack in Nimbo community in 2016.

“As was the case at that time, the government and security network were forewarned about the attack but nothing was done to avert it. It is on account of this that we are hereby putting both the Enugu State and Federal Governments and the entire security apparatus both in Enugu State and the country at large on high alert of the impending assault by these Fulani herdsmen on some communities in Enugu State.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Enugu wishes to warn that it would not tolerate any more shedding of blood in Enugu State or any part of Igboland on account of Fulani herdsmen.

“Our position on grazing ranches is very clear. In truth, since 2015 nothing has happened in Nigeria that seems to attenuate our position on the rejection of grazing ranches in Igboland and we cannot abdicate our land for any such purpose,” he stated.

IPOB DECLARE SEIZE FIRE ON OHANAEZE NDIGBO

July 6, 2018

Re: IPOB, Ohaneze Ndigbo reconciliation meeting held in Enugu on July 6, 2018

Following an important meeting with some respectable Igbo elders, the representatives of IPOB and leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo earlier today July 6, 2018 in Enugu, under the distinguished  chairmanship of the very eminent Prof. Ben Nwabueze; IPOB High Command hereby mandate that all forms of verbal attacks and name calling on all media platforms against Ohaneze Ndigbo seize with immediate effect. No IPOB family member should disparage Ohaneze Ndigbo or its leadership until further notice.

This is strictly to give room for a number of representations and demands made by IPOB, to those present at the meeting to be given due attention within the shortest possible time-frame, under an atmosphere devoid of rancor.

The meeting stressed among other things the need for our people, who are presently under siege in parts of Enugu State, to recognise the urgency and need to synergise and constitute a common front against all forms of threats to our existence as a people.

Should this gesture by IPOB, in the face of well documented betrayal and blackmail by the political class be taken for granted, IPOB shall have no option but to stand in the gap to defend the aspirations and collective will of the people of Biafra against every enemy.

IPOB, as the most potent and largest freedom fighting outfit on earth, remains focused, determined and resolute. Our unalloyed commitment to a referendum in pursuit of our emancipation remain sacrosanct and insurmountable.

Biafra: What Pro-Biafra Coalition Leaders Failed To Understand Due To Ignorance

By Dave O. Umahi | For Biafra Writers

June 22, 2018

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful and committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only that ever has” – Margaret Mead.

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) must have known this much. That was why he declared in one of his broadcasts that he was looking for only 100 committed Biafrans to achieve the separation of Biafra from the accursed Nigeria.

But few weeks ago, on 30th of May 2018 (Biafra Heroes Remembrance Day), some groups of Biafrans, which described themselves as Biafra freedom-fighting groups had a meeting in Anambra State, where they exhibited their ignorance of this truth. They said they were forming a coalition to make it easier for them to secure Biafra independence from Nigeria.

The coalition expressed the belief that their dream of getting Biafra would be a mere mirage if they continued to work individually. Leader of Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, Uchenna Madu who now doubles as the spokesperson of the about 15 pro-Biafra groups that formed the coalition posited that the need for them to "jaw-jaw" on the current approach being employed by different groups had become imperative in the struggle. He said the approach must be coordinated for the groups to achieve their goal, which is Biafra actualization, despite their ideological differences.

He further noted that it would be irrational that different groups fighting for the same goal would be at one another’s throat instead of working and walking together to actualize their aspiration.

The meeting which was held at Rojenny Sports Village, Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has other leaders from other pro-Biafra groups in representation.

Speaking on a Seminar that was held on the day, Madu said the meeting was also held to make the 51 years’ anniversary of the declaration of Biafra as a republic by Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

It is important to state that the coalition partners must have been motivated by other consideration than securing Biafra freedom. This assertion comes to mind knowing that it might prove counter-productive with the groups coalescing into one command. It seems not to know that in such a situation, once the leadership is taken out, the whole body would be in disarray as the good book states: “strike the shepherd and the sheep will scatter”.

This is why many critics believe the coalition leaders were just agents of Nigerian government being used to set-up the groups for emasculation. Indeed, there have been reports that money exchanged hands between the government and many of the coalition leaders.

One another plank, some other critics of the group believe it is either the coalition leaders were working in tandem with government to emasculate the groups or they were outrightly ignorant of history. According to them, if the leaders were not ignorant, they would have known that many past struggles had been successful simply because groups worked independently of one another with each focusing and operating from their areas of strength. They hold the view that it made it impossible for government to track each group and subdue at the same time. They gave ready examples with the human rights struggles of the 60s in the United States of America (USA) and the struggle against apartheid in South Africa.

Expectedly, IPOB did not join the meeting. They were buoyed by such quotes of Margaret Mead above and the philosophy of their leader. Luckily for them, even though their leader asked for 100 men, millions are following them, which is crippling Nigeria on a daily basis. Indeed, when it called out Biafrans from the streets during the Heroes Remembrance Day, it was a total lockdown as more than 97 per cent of compliance was recorded.

No wonder Lai Mohammed, Nigeria’s Minister of Information once declared that IPOB was more dangerous than any other group in the world, including the killer herdsmen that has caused serious security crisis in the country.

For this reason, the coalition leaders should know that they were wrong in believing that they would be ineffective working alone. That means they were ignorant of the strength of IPOB’s non-violent strategy, that it was not just because of their number. They were just ignorant of that wonderful quote from Wendy Lesko that smallness is not limitation to effectiveness: “If you ever think you are too small to be effective, you’ve never been in a room with a mosquito”.

IPOB have several other things going for it, which includes truth, honesty, trust-worthiness, determination, and non-compromise with anything Nigeria. If they should imbibe these and do them, they will also be effective.
