The Igbos Are Under Siege In Their Country

By Mike Ozekhome | Biafra Times

I am shocked that the Igbos are not speaking up at the apparent siege laid on their land by uniformed person of different categories. They range from Army, Navy, Police, Civil Defence, Customs, FRSC, etc. My journey had taken me by road from Isele-Mkpitime, where I had gone to pay tribute to a Nigerian icon, Chief (Dr) P.K.C. Isagba, the Odogwu of Isele-Mkpitime. He was one of the first Nigerians to believe in my ability as a young fledgling lawyer. I had been handling his cases whilst at Chief Gani Fawehinmi’s Chambers. When I left as Deputy Head to set up my practice in January 1986, Chief Isagba personally went to Chief Gani Fawehinmi, to allow him move his files to me, to continue handling his cases; a request the amiable and selfless Gani granted immediately. So, Chief Isagba became my first major client as a tottering practising lawyer, trying to find my groggy feet. He became my bossom friend and elder brother.

My journey from Isele-Mkpitime, through Asaba, to Port-Harcourt, told me clearly that the entire Igbo land is locked down in a physical, psychological and mental siege, reminiscent of a civil war time.

When the Civil War ended January 15, 1970, the then military ruler, General “Jack” Yakubu Gowon, who became Head of State, at 31 and a bachelor, proclaimed the three Rs: “Reconciliation, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation”, which heralded his policy of “No Victor, No Vanquished”. This was after the unfortunate failure of the 4th-5th January, 1967, of the “Aburi Accord”, that would have prevented the bloody war in which over 2 million civilians and 100, 000 military combatants were killed. Or, was it an historical mistake that these people who had already manufactured “Ogbunigwe” (series of weapons, that included detonation mines, IED, and rocket propelled missiles), with which they prosecuted the Nigeria – Biafra war between 1967 and 1970, were prevented from leaving Nigeria? Perhaps, we would today have had a Japan, Singapore or South Korea lying side by side a sprawling “giant of Africa” on clay legs.

These policies were meant to quickly heal the gaping wounds of the gruesome blood-letting, forget the horrors and evils of the fratricidal war and quickly reintegrate the Igbos into the society.

But, have these hardworking, gregarious “Jews” of Nigeria been reconciled, rehabilitated and reintegrated into the mainstream of the Nigerian society? I doubt it. Simple proof: show me any Igbo man in today’s all powerful cabal kitchen cabinet of PMB’s Government. My journey from Isele-Mkpitime, Delta State, through Asaba, Onitsha, Oba, Oraifite, Okija, Ihiala, Mgbidi, Awomama, Owerri, Aba to Port-Harcourt, was a strangulating reminder that the Igbos, inspite of their unquantifiable contributions to the commerce, industry and innovations that drive the non-oil sector of the Nigerian economy and give it oxygen, are nearly a conquered people. The check-points along the above stretch of road are nauseating and asphyxiating, as the security agencies, including para-military ones out-do each other to harass, torment, search, intimidate and extort money from travelers.

Earlier journeys by road (I travel a lot on professional duties), had shown me the same siege through countless roadblocks: Enugu, through the Ugwogo Nike-Opi-Nsukka Road; Amansea in Awka-Ugwuoba Oji River; Nnewi, Alor, Ekwulobia, Amesi, Ugar, Umuchu; Okigwe, Awgu and Ituku Ozalla, Umuahia and Isiala-Ngwa, on Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway. On the Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene highway, you have exasperating road blocks at Michael Okpara University junction; Isingwu-Nkweogwu junction of the Isuikwuato-Uzuakoli-Ajayi-Igbere road; and the 14 Brigade Army barracks junction at the Ohafia-Arochukwu highway.

As you are crossing one check point, a mere look ahead of you, of less than half a kilometer, will reveal another barricade. It is all so frustrating. There is no war, or security breach. South East is not North East where Boko Haram still calls the shots (forget about Government’s pet words of “we have degraded Boko Haram”; Boko Haram is still very potent, controlling large areas, killing and maiming people on a daily basis. Their representative said that much at the 2nd May, 2017, Re-Union meeting of the 2014 National Conference delegates at Daar Communications Centre, Abuja, where I delivered the keynote address).

Yet, in this Boko Haram-ravaged region, you would not find this armada of security, treating the entire geo-political zone made up of five states (the least in Nigeria; some others have seven states), like a conquered territory.

It is only the recent suit by my good friend, Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, (six of us founded the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) – the first human rights body in Nigeria-on 15th October, 1987), over “marginalisation of the South East region”, that has perhaps brought to the front burner, these disturbing tons of injustice. That is why no one can ignore Nnamdi Kanu and his IPOB, Ralph Uwazurike’s MASSOB, etc, agitating for self –determination, a right sanctioned and recognised even by the UNO.

These fully armed and trigger-happy security personnel have never taken steps to protect the Igbo race, against rampaging Fulani Herdsmen that raid their homes, to maim, kill and rape their wives (remember Nimbo in Uzo Uwani LGA in Enugu State). They have never repelled the incessant reign of terror by armed robbers, kidnappers, hired assassins and murderers. No, they are stationed there for three main reasons: (1) check the bid for self determination by the Igbos; (2) extort money from the wealthy and poor Igbo traders who ply these routes; (3) remind the Igbos that the all powerful Federal Government is on ground to silence the people and force them to toe their ruling party line. Wait a minute; is that why some prominent Igbos, including erstwhile leaders, members of the BOT and two-time Governors for eight years under PDP, have been outdoing each other to decamp to a non-performing and fundamentally flawed party like the APC? Let me end this piece by recommending to the Ndigbos, the legendary Hubert Ogunde’s immortal words, in his most famous 1964 play, “Yoruba Ronu” (“Yorubas, think”), a stinging satire that got his theatre company banned, which ban was later lifted in 1966, by the new military Governor.

Ndigbos, cheenu echiche (Igbos, think).

Nigeria, a Hegemonic Terrorist Entity

Nigeria, a Hegemonic Terrorist Entity

By Nelson Ọfọkar  Yagazie | Biafra Times

August 15, 2022

Nigeria, the failed British experiment, designed by Fredrick Lugard to last five score years, had since inception been a terror to mankind. Created not by the will of God, but that of man to serve the interest of the British, the consent of the federating units was as important as used tissue paper. Judging the people subhuman, the experimenting Brits, indifferent to the cultural, religious and ideological gulf between the constituent units, had gone ahead to force three nations – Biafra, Oduduwa and Arewa –together as one country.

Of course no state grows when plunged in internal rift and schisms, and the experimenting folks know such rifts are never lacking when people with different ideologies and cultural background are confined under one state. Yet, for their own gain, they didn’t think it twice to forge ahead with such experiment. As expected, the artificial borders holding Biafra, Oduduwa and Arewa together in the Nigerian state had bred animosity, and animosity as history would testify, had always been inimical to growth. The rupture in relationship among the merged nations had been employed to impair democracy in the region.

The failure of democracy in this British farmland mistaken for a country is evident in the toxic stew of aggression served the Biafran in recent years. It is not that the barbaric nature of Nigeria has ever been unclear. No. Even without bothering with the thirty months genocidal onslaught against the Biafran (itself an expansion of sustained pogroms that dates back to 1945), the subsequent genocidal attacks against the remnants of Biafra from 1970 when the war was verbally declared over, to this present day, speak nothing but barbarism. If it were just the Islamic extremists killing and raping us in their sworn quest to deep the Koran in the Atlantic Ocean, we would have known how to go about it, but it beats all imagination when government agencies who are supposedly custodians of the law and fundamentally created to protect life and property, turn around to unleash everything inhuman on the citizens.

The barrel of gun is turned against anyone who dares to speak up against the brutality and corrupt tendencies of the government. When such folks are not being gunned down by the army and police, they are being abducted by the DSS and thrown into prison without trial, and when trial is mustered, it is everything but fair. The judiciary itself, sufficiently intimidated and disgracefully subdued, seems to have forgotten the essence of its existence. Judgments are delivered at the government’s directive, making joke of the supposed “independence” of the judiciary.

That the judiciary is but a toy in the hand of the government is clearly demonstrated in the recent civilian coup orchestrated against the people of Imo state, Biafra. The Nigerian government, not comfortable with a governor sufficiently enlightened and brave enough to hold on to the tenets of democracy, ousted the duly elected executive governor of Imo state, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, using the cowardly and fantastically corrupt judiciary. Although all evidence before them clearly and unanimously point Emeka as the rightful winner, the sham called Supreme Court, acting on order from the cabal calling the shots in the mafia government, pronounced Hope Uzodimma, a winner. That the figures doctored to elevate the Federal Government’s stooge, Uzodimma, from fourth position to first position spin far above the number of registered voters didn’t mean a thing to the subservient judiciary. The despot in power has given a directive and against the popular will of the people, it’s got to be carried out.

If it were just the squashing of the people’s will, perhaps we would have learnt to adapt, knowing that as hopeless slaves we are in our own land, our will doesn’t count. But they squash more than our will. Our life is squashed too. There is no guarantee of life anymore. And as I am writing this, there is no guarantee that I will live to see it published. We live everyday as our last, for we are gunned down when we least expected it. We are picked up by government agents, and like Christmas goat, slaughtered without a verdict. We are killed for differing in opinion; we are killed for daring to speak up against the perceived ills of the government; we are killed for refusing to accept Islam; we are killed for asking for self-determination, an option solely left for us having sucked the gall of inhumanity enough from the Nigerian state.

Freedom is legal anywhere in the world. The Nigerian state itself fought and gained freedom from the occupying colonialist Britain. Yet, for asking for that which is legal, for asking for that which Nigeria asked for and obtained on silver platter, the Biafran is gunned down. If freedom is a crime, why then did the Nigerian state ask for it from the British Empire?

In civilized settings, the question of self-determination is answered in a referendum box. We saw this recently in UK with the Scot, and in the EU with Britain. The Scot agitated to leave the UK, the government of United Kingdom, recognizing their right for self-determination, offered them a referendum. Not mustering up the needed vote, Scotland stayed back and the matter closed. No one was killed or jailed. The UK herself, fed up with the European Union, agitated to leave. A referendum was conducted and they voted to leave. No one was killed. The challenge was resolved in the ballot box. That’s democracy.

In this British zoo nicknamed Nigeria, democracy is mouthed but not practiced. Consequentially, asking for self-determination is misinterpreted as asking for war, and without hesitation, cannons, bayonets and howitzers are turned against the freedom-seeking Biafran. Rather than resolve the raging matter through a United Nations’ monitored referendum, the government, despite being a signatory to the UN Charter on the rights of Indigenous Peoples, turn on its killing machines against the unarmed citizens exercising their fundamental human rights. One wonders then if the power-wielding giants in Nigeria understand the meaning of Democracy.

Even in Nigeria’s own constitution, self-determination is enshrined therein, and so is the right to protest. Yet, for exercising either of the two, we face the cruel barrel of a gun. This undemocratic and barbaric system of handling dissenting voices is instanced in the killing of IPOB family members in Aba High School in 2016 by the Nigerian army. The freedom-seeking group gathered in the school premises to offer prayers for the release of their Supreme Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who at the time, was being unlawfully detained by the Nigerian government for asking for an independent state of Biafra – same thing Nigeria asked from Britain and was given – and the might of Nigerian military was unleashed on them.

In war fashion the Nigerian army marched into the school in their numbers, and on one knee down as if aiming at a rival battalion, opened fire on the unarmed and defenseless praying Biafrans. Several were killed on the point, and several terribly injured, dying later on. Footages of this savagery was aired on Al Jazeera, and when the attention of then president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, who is now dead and impersonated by a facemask-wearing body-double employed by the cabal running Nigeria, the despot conveniently looked away, saying that he doesn’t want to see and issuing threats of worse terror.

This follows after Nkpor massacre – a 2016 May 30th military onslaught against IPOB members observing Biafra Heroes’ day, Onitsha Head-Bridge bloodbath – a military Mayhem on IPOB members protesting the detention of their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and Onitsha Main-town slaughter – a joint attack of Navy and police against IPOB on awareness campaign.

On the 20th of January 2017, in Port Harcourt city, indigenously known as Igwe-ocha, Biafrans held a rally in support of President Donald Trump who, on that fateful day, was sworn into office. Fearing that Trump might notice them and extend a helping hand to their agitation, the Nigerian state moved its military against the rallying Indigenous People of Biafra, massacring a good number, injuring some and incarcerating the others.

The collapse of democracy in the Nigerian state and its attendant moral decadence are far-reaching, so much so that court verdicts are flouted with impunity. the Supreme Leader of the self-determination agitating group, Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, arrested and detained, was twice discharged and acquitted of all charges by two different High Courts sitting at the country’s capital city, Abuja, yet was unlawfully held back by the Department of Security Service, DSS.

Not only was court order disregarded, the terrorists in power moved in to arrest five uncompromising judges among whom is the second judge that discharged and acquitted Nnamdi Kanu. While remanded in custody, fresh charges were leveled against the Biafran leader, and the judge handling the case was ordered to convict and sentence him to death by hanging. The judge, finding nothing to convict an innocent man but fearing persecution from the government should he declare Kanu free, turned a Pilate, washing his hands off the case. The next judge, John Tsoho, followed the same path, and the case was shifted to Justice Binta Nyako, whose husband and son the government was holding. Binta was told to convict Kanu if she wanted her husband and son back.

The constitution was turned upside down, Justice Binta ruled and overruled herself, sharia law was adopted in trying a Jewish conformist, and masked witnesses were invited to testify against Kanu, everything undemocratic was done to pervert justice. Nevertheless, with Biafrans mounting pressure on international bodies for intervention, Kanu, after two years of unlawful detention, was granted bail with the most absurd conditions. He was banned from talking to the press – an infringement on his fundamental right to speech; he was banned from being present in any group of people numbering up to ten, by implication, he cannot go to market, temple of worship, or even attend a family gathering – an infringement on his fundamental right to free association; he was banned from travelling outside Nigeria, even to neighbouring Ghana – an infringement to his fundamental right to movement.

Meanwhile, a session of Nigerian constitution states that an accused is presumed innocent until conviction. Kanu is not convicted of any crime, yet he is denied of his fundamental rights. Only in a failed democracy like Nigeria’s can such absurdity be seen.

While in the unlawful detention, his followers took to the street to protest his detention and ask for his release. Despite such exercise being enshrined in the constitution, the Nigerian government moved its terrorist army to kill them. This protesting group has no weapon with them and is exemplary in peaceful conduct. Yet, the Nigerian government, undemocratic and barbaric, thought of no other way of handling them than firing life bullet at unarmed citizens exercising their constitutional rights.

Months on, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu made the shocking revelation that President Buhari is dead and buried in an unmarked grave in Saudi Arabia and is being impersonated by a body double that can neither speak Fulfulde – late Buhari’s indigenous language of Fulani – nor publically remove his cap as he is not bald as late Buhari. Kanu pointed out the height difference between the impostor and the late Buhari and, putting the last nail in the coffin, pointed out the difference in the palmar flexion creases between the body-double and the late Buhari. Describing such colossal deception as rape of democracy, Kanu decried the cabal’s negligence of the people’s will, adding that Nigerians should rise up to wrestle the country back from the merchants in power and enthrone back democracy.

Acting to preempt more startling revelation, the Nigerian state, under the pretext of Kanu violating his bail conditions, deployed a detachment of soldiers with the finest of arsenal in Nigeria’s armory and backed up in the air with two air force fighter jets to silence the secret-revealing Biafran leader. The invading military killed twenty-eight young men and a dog in Kanu’s home, injuring several others. By a streak of luck, Kanu survived the attack but sustained life-threating injuries which rendered him incommunicado for thirteen months and forced him into exile.

Keeping to its nature of intimidating legal practitioners, the Nigerian state deployed a joint force of military and police to invade the home of counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, Barrister Ejiofor. Four people were killed on the spot, many others, including the Barrister’s aging mother, sustained bullet injuries, and the barrister’s house and neighbouring ones were set ablaze by the invading troop. Ejiofor’s saving grace is his absence in the house at the time of the attack. Realizing the target was missed, the police declared Ejiofor wanted on trumped up charges. The barrister became a fugitive for defending Nnamdi kanu and other IPOB members in law court. It took the intervention of different legal bodies – local and international – to rescue the fugitive legal practitioner from the murderous Nigerian police and army.

The world is aware of the Lekki Toll-gate massacre of unarmed Nigerian youths protesting police brutality. In every other place in the world the police maintain law and order, in Nigeria the police break law and order. And it’s not just that they do so, they do it with so much impunity. From forced bribery, the Nigerian police graduated to actual robbing and kidnapping. Victims are forcefully taken to automated teller machines (ATM) and at gunpoint, instructed to make withdrawals and hand over to the assailing police officers. When one dares to stand one’s ground, one is gunned down. One is even killed for more frivolous reasons such as having hairstyles the police in their pettiness considers indecent. So the youths having had it to their neck had taken to the streets to protest all over the country and the Nigerian army was unleashed on them. The Lekki Toll Gate incident is just one out of many of such mayhems.

Under the Pretext of enforcing Covid-19 lock-down order in Biafra land, the trigger-happy Nigerian police fires life bullet at Biafrans, killing innocent citizens here and there. A promising young man was recently killed by the police in Ohafia, Abia state, and the people, having endured police brutality for too long, took to the street. More of them were gunned down. Now aggrieved to the marrow, the people set a police van ablaze as a way of registering their grievance. The best the Nigerian government did in the situation is deploying the army in war fashion against the citizens. More people were killed and many more severely injured.

While soldiers and military hardware are being moved down east to Biafra land, up North, Boko Haram is ravaging cities. Ironically, the Nigerian government is more concerned with killing innocent Biafrans than engaging the deadly Islamic sect, Boko Haram.

In June 2021, the Nigerian government in collusion with Kenyan government abducted, tortured and extra-judicially whisked Nnamdi Kanu – leader of Indigenous People of Biafra – into Nigeria where, since then, he has remained in solitary confinement. What else best describes a terrorist state?

Both Amnesty International and United Nations Special Rapporteur on Extra Judicial, Arbitrary and Summary Killings or Executions have investigated and published their findings on the arbitrary killings of members of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. Although the numbers and names of the defenseless citizens killed were under-represented, the reports did prove one thing: Biafrans are being arbitrarily killed. The investigators, not being on ground at the time of the actual killings, and susceptible to human error, excusably presented a statistics acutely below factuality and inconsistent with the realities on the ground.

Ok, the figures are way lower than actual statistics. But at least they are a proof that our outcry is not a hoax. We are being killed; we are being abducted, tortured and illegally detained. Our only crime is asking for freedom. But if freedom is a crime, then the entire humanity is guilty, for even Britain – one of the pioneer colonialists – demanded freedom from the EU.

The Biafran, battered and dripping blood, seeks referendum – the most civilized medium of settling disputes of political concern. As I type this, IPOB family members are being clandestinely assassinated by state sponsored vampires in military uniforms. Our appeal to all civilized society is to, taking into cognizance the savagery of the undemocratic state of Nigeria, weigh in on this matter. Let Biafra vote in a referendum to determine her fate as did Scotland in United Kingdom and United Kingdom in European Union. Freedom is legal anywhere on planet earth.

IPOB Cross River State Calls For Prayers For Mazi Nnamdi Kanu

IPOB Cross River State Calls For Prayers For Mazi Nnamdi Kanu

July 18, 2021

Onoja Christian Obinna  | Biafra Writers

The state coordinator of IPOB Cross River state has praised his members for their resilience in the fight for freedom. The state helmsman made the commendation during an executive meeting in the state’s capital, Calabar, adding that the family has remained undaunted by all the intimidations from the Nigerian state.

While praising their efforts so far, re reminded them that until freedom is achieved, they have not really done a thing. To this end he urged them to keep the ball rolling, charging every member to double their efforts in evangelism and sensitization of the locals.

Encouraging the members to remain resolute in this trying time of extraordinary rendition of the Supreme Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the coordinator called on all the chiefs and state elders to organise themselves to support the IPOB leader in prayers, adding that his trauma in the DSS dungeon demands such.

He also called on pastors to go on their knees and cry out to God for the release of our father in the person of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. In his words, traditional doctors and herbalists are not left out. All are expected to pray for our leader's release.

He further beckoned on individuals to also seek the face of God concerning the trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu which will be coming up on the 26th of this month and religiously continue with the Psalms as instructed.

Conclusively, the state coordinator urged all Biafrans to follow the IPOB chains of command as laid down by our Leader and shun all divisive comments at this critical time that the enemies of our struggle are seeking to distract us from our sworn objective.

Biafra-land Bubbles for Kanu and Biafra

Biafra-land Bubbles for Kanu and Biafra

July 18, 2021 | EASTERN PILOT

By David Umahi

The slated July 26, 2021, court appearance of the Supreme Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is no doubt precipitating a huge bubble of activities all over Biafra-land and Nigeria in general. The charismatic freedom fighter will be making a defence against bogus charges pressed against him by the oppressive government of Nigeria, and Biafrans are really bracing up for the D-day.

Kanu’s abduction and illegal detention is considered as a state terrorism against all Biafrans and not just Kanu and his freedom fighting group. The Biafran nation and foreign elements sympathetic to their cause describe Kanu’s case as sheer persecution and blatant show of hatred against the Biafrans. 26 July therefore is a very important date for them.

Kanu and his freedom fighting group, IPOB, have not committed any known crime against the Nigerian state or any other country in the world. All they have done is peacefully agitate for an independent Biafran state from Nigeria which they feel has not just been inimical to their growth as a people, but has also been visiting genocide on them for centuries.

The Nigerian state has however twisted the whole thing, criminalized IPOB’s activities not minding the fact that self-determination is enshrined in its own constitution, and has been killing and incarcerating the group members.

As solidarity to the persecuted Kanu, Biafrans within the Biafran territory have pledged not to engage in any economic activity on Kanu’s trial day, while those outside Biafra-land will storm Abuja to witness the court proceedings.

Malami Set to Deny Attacks on Canadian Minister

Malami Set to Deny Attacks on Canadian Minister

July 12, 2021

By David Umahi | Biafra Writer

Nigerian Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, recently took a broadside at Kelechi Madu, the Minister of Justice and Solicitor-General of Alberta in Canada. Malami, in response to a recent criticism of Madu, described him as ignorant and an empty vessel that has not represented his country of birth well.

The Nigerian-born Canadian had expressed disappointment with Malami for his part in the kidnap of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in Kenya last June. The extraordinary rendition in Kenya by the Nigerian agents is a grave violation in international relation that soils the integrity of the involved countries.

The abduction of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, a Biafran-born British citizen, has been drawing international outcry. Lord Alton of Liverpool last Wednesday, July 7, demanded an inquiry into the alleged role of the government of Kenya in the adoption and maltreatment of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the circumstances surrounding his transfer to Nigeria against his will. He also demanded to know if any assistance is being provided for him by the British High Commission in Nigeria.

That Malami’s concern right now is tantrums at the Canadian minister when the Nigerian government has a lot to explain to the world is a surprise to the public. Well, Malami has a penchant for denial and having only recently demonstrated that penchant in denying his deride against the Igbo, many are wondering if he won’t pull off same stunt in the Madu calumny.

Nigeria: No Seed of Discord Can Ever Be Used To Meddle With The Alliance of Yoruba And Biafra Nations

Nigeria: No Seed of Discord Can Ever Be Used To Meddle With The Alliance of Yoruba And Biafra Nations

By Onoja Christian Obinna | Biafra Writers

May 15, 2021

Playing an old script of "Never allow them to have ALLIANCE with the East" as advised by the British crown, the Fulani stooge[s] in the West most especially Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his cohort the CP of Lagos - Mr. Hakeem Odumosu have finally landed on their last line card of hope in keeping Nigeria one which the Indigenous People of Biafra gladly understands it perfectly well and IPOB is not unwavering on the mind game the Fulani stooges in Lagos State how far they can go to appease their caliphate masters because Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu wants to succeed tyrant Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 election that can never hold.

Just as it played in their favour during the highly energised #EndSARS protests, they think that it will workout for them again but little did they know that true Oduduwa sons and daughters have mounted the podium of ensuring that freedom for the YORUBA NATION is attained at all costs which is a very good omen for one to embrace and cherish his/her freedom.
If not for the selfishness of some gray hair men, how can a well breastfed man insinuate that IPOB that is only indigenous to Biafra territory is planning an attack in a far away neighbouring nation like YORUBA land that has been hospitable for the inhabitation of the Eastern people.

This goes to show sane mind with optimistic or optimal sense of reasoning the dare despiration in the hood of the Abuja cabals to adopt any means possible in saving the dying Nigeria State which includes inciting the people of Yoruba against their Biafra counterparts but it's a futile attempt because the people have wised up. It is high time the people of Odua freedom fighting leaders starts to rebuff any divisive and inciting comments by their self-acclaimed political jobbers called leaders in pitching the Yoruba nation against their Biafra ally. KOIKI MEDIA must educate their people as regards to this method of outdated plots of divide and conquer and keep the Yoruba people on the know of the ploys of the political lords to keep subjugating their land and youths in the name of keeping Nigeria one.

If any eventuality happen in any part of Yoruba land, the Lagos State CP must be held accountable for it and besides if any attack is to be witnessed in Lagos as foretold, it will not be far from being committed by the already arranged and paid Fulani touts, Fulani bandits and minions as they have always been doing in the time past. It has been clear and worthy to note here-in that the Biafran people do not create nuisance to any of their host states despite all forms of provocation ranging from burning of their business areas, shops and destruction of their homes.

Biafrans are known for their enduring and hardworking spirit irrespective of the precarious situation they found themselves in Nigeria yet they struggle to develop any part of the state they found themselves in the country they are widely rejected and abused at every minute of the day. The Igbo people of Biafra nation are known for nation building and not attacking the land that feeds them as was criminally alleged for a perceived plot of attack by the Lagos State CP, Hakeem Odumosu.

Lastly, the current political clowns in Nigeria must know that no amount of divisive comments can ever stop Nigeria from disintegrating for the peaceful emergence of Biafra and Oduduwa Nation, the Middle Belt can as well join.

The Ohanaeze Cliff-hanger

The Ohanaeze Cliff-hanger

By David Umahi | For Biafra Writers

January 25, 2020

Ohanaeze Ndigbo – a group of washed-out politicians – has for many years propped itself up the ultimate Igbo group. By its current disposition, the group is currently in fierce battle to retain the façade of the sole group speaking for the Igbo. Contrary to its wishful thinking however, the group is at the moment in a cliff-hanger.

The group’s last change of leadership exposed secrets that suggestive of the fact that the group is but a shadow of itself. Although they resources are being deployed for damage control, the deed is already done.

In the view of many Igbos who commented on the group’s current quagmire, Ohanaeze has come to a Cul-de-sac, adding that the group has never been what it poses to be.

An Onitsha resident and public affairs commentator, David Tochukwu, believes that the group played a fast one when it attached “Ndigbo” to its name. Asserting that there is no Igbo representation in the group, Tochukwu described Ohanaeze as a gathering of unscrupulous politicians and retired Fulani stooges. Tochukwu accused the group of buying relevance by handsomely paying journalists and media houses to constantly mention the group in their reports.

Other commentators believe that the group sells out their own people to curry favour from Nigerian government. The rumour that George Obiozor – factional leader of the group – was the one that took Hope Uzodimma to the Fulani Caliphate for the supplanting of Emeka Ihedioha, lends credence to the accusations of sabotage against the group.

While in office, John  Nnia Nwodo – the group’s immediate past leader – masterminded Operation Python Dance – a military exercise that saw to the extrajudicial killing of hundreds of IPOB members.

The emergence of George Obiozor, largely perceived as a clear manipulation by the Fulani Caliphate through their stooges in governorship seats – Hope Uzodimma and cross-carpeting Dave Umahi, seems to have landed the group in a cul-de-sac.

Uzuakoli To Be Taken Over By Fulani, Courtesy Of Georgina Ehuriah & Okechukwu Nwokoro

Uzuakoli To Be Taken Over By Fulani, Courtesy Of Georgina Ehuriah & Okechukwu Nwokoro

By Okezie Iheonunekwu | For Biafra Writers

January 18, 2021

Historically, Uzuakoli originated from Ezera in the present day Isukwuato Local Government Area, all in Abia State. Uzuakoli first settled in Akoli, migrating from there to their present settlement now called Uzuakoli.

Originally known as “Ozu,"  Uzuakoli had five children – Mba, now called Amamba; Oma, now Eluoma, Nkwo, now known as Amankwo; Agbo, now called Agbozu; and the last child, Ugwuanyim, now called Ngwu. These five children of his gave rise to the five villages of Uzuakoli.

Uzuakoli houses the famous Leprosy Settlement founded by the Methodist Missionary Society and the Local Authorities of Owerri Province in August, 1932. Uzuakoli also houses one of the best secondary schools in Nigeria, Methodist College Uzuakoli, founded in 1923. The town also boasts of a famous market – Eke Uzuakoli.

During the colonial era, Uzuakoli was popular for a notorious clandestine slave trade market.  The town is so historically strategic that it became infused in a popular Biafra song making waves till date – “Agawalam ikwa ngbo na Uzuakoli, Baby isim gbalaga.”

During the Biafra war, the Nigerian army of 82nd Battalion commandeered by Major Ibrahim Babangida, attacked and captured Uzuakoli. In that fierce battle, Major Babangida was wounded by a Biafran Ogbunigwe shell and was evacuated. When Uzuakoli launched their electricity project in the 80s, IBB came to commission it, recalling the battle.  Of course Uzuakoli and Abagana stand out as the toughest war fronts during the Biafra incursion.

Today sadly, the five traditional rulers of Uzuakoli, oppressively lured by two shameless Fulani slaves in the town, are on the brink of handing the town over to the Fulani Islamic caliphate.

Today sadly, the five traditional rulers of Uzuakoli, oppressively lured by two shameless Fulani slaves in the town, are on the brink of handing the town over to the Fulani Islamic caliphate.

In the disguise of building a federal prison for rehabilitation of repented Boko haram members, the two self-serving Fulani slaves – Okechukwu Nwokoro, president of Uzuakoli Development Association (UDA), and Barrister Georgina Ehuriah, retired permanent secretary of Ministry of Interior – are pressurizing the traditional rulers to surrender Uzuakoli ancestral lands to the caliphate. The said prison project, we have gathered, is a decoy to grab lands for Fulani settlements.

It’s unfortunate that many respected people of Uzuakoli are still blind to the mission of Georgina Ehuriah and her puppet APC agent, Okechukwu Nwokoro. A couple of years ago Georgina Ehuriah was given an assignment to secure lands in Uzuakoli for the Fulanis. To fool the people, she constructed a few kilometers road in Uzuakoli, tagging it federal project. She then brought Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, to Uzuakoli and persuaded Ozo of Uzuakoli to confer the title of Enyioha 1 of Uzuakoli (friend of Uzuakoli people) on him.

The unsuspecting people of Uzuakoli did not realize that Georgina Ehuriah and her crew were on a mission but were gradually watering the ground. Georgina and her crew had their first try through request for land for agricultural project. IPOB called their bluff, revealing that the said agricultural project is RUGA Settlement. Quickly they re-strategized, presenting to us now the prison project.

It should be noted that there is a federal prison in Umuahia, and there is yet another one in Arochukwu. These towns are close to Uzuakoli. What then is the essence of citing another federal prison in Uzuakoli? Glaring then is the fact that everything is fishy about the project. Come to think of it, of what benefit is a federal prisons in a peaceful  town like Uzuakoli?

Presently, the people of Uzuakoli are developing their town by themselves, erecting luxury homes and chains of business. The prison project is a ploy to grab land and schematically deploy the so-called repented Boko Haram members to Uzuakoli and the neighbouring communities. The specific land being demanded – 50acres of forest land – connects Uzuakoli to Igbere , Alayi, Osuitem ,Itunbuzo ,Bende, and Ihechiowa  down to Ebonyi state.

Uzuakoli, we should remember, is one of the towns that offered the Nigerian state the fiercest resistance. Trying to take it over is thus understandable. IBB was injured there, and the Fulani man doesn’t forget it hurry.

The good people of Uzuakoli should therefore rise up now against this unhealthy plot of the Fulani and their stooges. Uzuakoli needs banks, federal polytechnics, Hospitals, medical schools, and modern markets, not Fulani settlement in the guise of a federal prison.

Nigeria: [Lekki Massacre]: Uncovered Agent Of British Secret Service In-Charge Of Nigeria

Nigeria: [Lekki Massacre]: Uncovered Agent Of British Secret Service In-Charge Of Nigeria

By Umeh A.Chiemelie | Biafra Writers

October 23, 2020

The British Secret Intelligent Service [ MI6], has been drafted to the Nigerian defence headquarters, how come in a sovereign independent Nigeria; Nigeria still remains a British government colony?. It is no longer a secret that the British government maintains a proxy imperial system of government in Africa in this twenty-first century, British government interference in Nigerian government affairs is the cancer strain eating Nigeria up. British government are the ones controlling the levers of power in Nigeria.

The British government is doing everything possible to stop the revolution taking effect and shape in today's Nigeria, the world must understand that the British High Commissioner to Nigeria - Mrs. Catolina Liang, was a former British government international spy. Mrs. Catolina Liang tipped her local collaborators in Nigeria, the likes of Mr. Ahmed Bola Tinubu - former governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo Olu - the current Lagos State governor, and the Fulani cabals about the effect of these protests to the image of Nigeria in the global community, this was what led to the Lekki toll gate massacre of October 20, 2020.

Immediately this British Mission in Nigeria - Mrs. Catolina Liang discussed and informed few individuals within the Nigerian government or persons that have access this current APC administration of tyrant Mohammadu Buhari on the implications of these protests to the detriment of Nigeria and British government interest in Nigeria, the Nigerian military were unleashed to tame the protesters with brute, force and violent. The individuals and arms of governmets mentioned earlier on are persons, and organizations responsible for the shooting of the peaceful protesters at Lagos toll gate which led to the deaths of many Nigerian youths while others sustained bullet wounds and varying degrees of injuries.

The British government has been holding the Indigenous Peoples of Nigeria down for over four to five centuries, starting from the late 17th to early 18th century the British government merchants advancement to West Africa. For how long will Britain continue to sit on the future of the Nigerian youths?. Britain is the source of today's Nigerian problems, therefore, for the youths to live in a sane clime like humans, the Nigerian youths must take this battle back to them. British government mission in Nigeria - Mrs. Catolina Liang and her parent country are directly responsible for the toll gate massacre.

Peaceful protests that has galvanized and mobilized the young people of Nigeria has turned into a bloody revolution that saw to the killing of over 200 young men and women across the country thanks to - Mrs. Catolina Liang - The latest Governor General to Nigeria. The blood of these innocent protesters is in your hands. She was the one that engineered Ahmed Bola Tinubu to use thugs on the peaceful protesters. It is crystal clear that Mrs. Catolina Liang is directly responsible for the deaths of many young Nigerian youths across the board. The British government since her creation of Nigeria has been using every possible means to divide us along ethnicity and religious sentiments, from indirect rule system to tagging a National Revolution which the British government backed to be an Igbo coup, this wanton in character led to the killing of over five million Biafrans.

The British government has been backing all successive military regimes in Nigeria. Britain is responsible for all the false census results and election rigging in Nigeria. Britain enjoys the impoverishment of the young people in Nigeria. It is to British government best interest that Nigeria remain down forever. What did Nigerians did to them?, What is youths offense to declare they be massacred like Christmas goats?. Peaceful protests across the Nigerian board that united all Nigerian youths to speak with one voice and one mind has unsuccessfully been tagged again an Igbo revolution by some paid misguided agents of the British government.

This was same way and manner they tagged the 1966 military revolution, an Igbo coup. The British government through her useful tool of churning out falsehood - the BCC, reported it to be an Igbo coup, the British government should know and understand perfectly well that 1966 is not 2020. They tried raising leaders among the revolutionaries to  quell the protests, they failed. They tried thuggery it failed, they massacred our comrades , it emboldened the Nigerian youths the more; now they want to play the religious and ethnic card, it will not work out for them.

The youths are conscious of your schemes and evil devices. Great Britain will suffer. British government will be the biggest loser at the end of this revolution. The British government atrocities in Nigeria will come back to Britain ten folds. All the evil mechanation the British government wish the young people of Nigeria will return back to them. The blood of innocent Nigerians Britain has been spilling from time immemorial will speak against the British government and hunt her empire down, t will lead to the ultimate collapse of the United Kingdom.

To the awoken and conscious youths of Nigeria, we applaud your zeal to fight on. "The legendary class of 2020". The most formidable progressive force in Africa currently. The most empathetic young people on the face of the planet. You  have done what no other generation has been able to accomplish in the history of Nigeria. You have successfully humiliated the forces that has been putting the Nigerian youths down for ages. They were desperate to subdue the Nigerian youths but the Nigerian youths have successfully proven to them that something good can come out of Africa. We have held this revolution thus far. We can not allow the devices of the British government to divide us now. Nigerian youths should be wiser and smarter. The Nigerian youths protesting in the streets of Nigeria are not revolting against the Yoruba race, Middle Belt, Hausa nor are they revolting against the Igbo in Nigeria.

The Nigerian youths are revolting against a system that has been perpetually designed to impoverish the youths for ever and ever, the evil system was orchestrated by the British government middlesomeness in the affairs of Nigeria which is currently been advanced by the reincarnation of Flora Shaw to Mrs. Catarina Liang. We cannot allow these people to continue to divide us. Nigerian youths must reject in it's entirety the ploy to divide us along tribal and ethnic lines. The youths have reached a point of no return. This is a critical time in this revoluion. We have to prove to these people that we are more united than they can imagine. The eyes of the world is on us.
History will be kind to us, young people like us all over the world is watching and observing, they want to learn from the outcome of our resolve to ending bad governance in the African system. Impoverished people around the world wants to learn a new system in collapsing the neo-colonial and imperialistic structures from their nations. Nigerian youths can't afford to fail. God is on your side, history is on your side as well, your future is in your own hands, your destiny is before you to grab it. We must remain focused and united for our unborn children.

We must direct this battle to our real enemy- the British government, they want to divide us, let us take the revolution to them. Mrs. Catolina Liang - the Nigerian latest Governor general must come out to adreess the Nigerian youths because we observed with keen interest her government middlesomeness in the current protests ravaging the country. The Nigerian youths asked for a state address from the current impostor Yusuf Muhammed parading himself to be Gen.Muhamadu Buhari. Nigerians got the speech but were speechless. Madam Governor General - Mrs. Catolina Liang is the next person that must adreess Nigerians to declare the British government stand over her secret middlesomeness in the Nigeria affairs to extinct the youths. Her silence can no longer be condoned. Mrs. Caltolina Liang must as a matter of urgency address the Nigerian youths for they have refused to be divided by the British government antics.

You Got Your Facts Wrong – Cleric Tells Edochie

You Got Your Facts Wrong – Cleric Tells Edochie

By Nelson Ofokar Yagazie | Biafra Writers

A cleric and advocate of Biafra restoration, Aiden Dillon, has said that veteran actor, Peter Edochie, got his facts wrong on Igbo land being landlocked. The cleric was reacting to Edochie’s statement in which he expressed dissatisfaction over IPOB insulting the president of the proscribed Ohaneze Ndigbo, John Nnia Nwodo, adding that Igbo-land is landlocked.

Offering to put the Nollywood star right, the cleric in a message titled “Advice to Pete Edochie” wrote: “Nna'anyi Pete Edochie, please sir respect yourself. Do not dare IPOB. We love you as a cultural icon, role model, good actor and somebody who speaks fluent Igbo. You got your facts wrong on Igboland being landlocked and we merely corrected you sir. Igboland is not landlocked because UBANI (Bonny) and Opobo are Igbo people not Izon as we were deceived to believe until IPOB came.

Whoever in Ireland shot the video that angered you sir did a very good job. Any Igbo elder who thinks Igboland is restricted to 5 south-east states stand to be corrected. It's a shame some of our elders that should know better are being tutored by this fearlessly vibrant generation.”

Berating the veteran actor on the Nwodo episode, Dillon said, “Your support for the traitor Nwodo who along with Ike Ekweremadu superintended Operation Python Dance that cost so many lives will put you into trouble with Biafrans. Those who are close to you must caution you on this issue. Sir, before you can pontificate on reciprocity of respect as obtains in Igbo tradition, you need to first undergo what parents of victims of Operation Python Dance endured, the pain of the loss of a loved one.

Had you lost your first son to Nnia Nwodo's treachery will you still regard him as an Igbo leader worthy of respect? Next time Sir, please choose your words very carefully. Some of us in IPOB are older than you. The era of condoning or celebrating mediocrity in our land because it’s coming from an older person is over for good. If you claim you are old but cannot defend your children then you are not a father, you are an Efulefu. Respect is earned not given, respect is reciprocal.”

The cleric concluded his message by reminding the actor of the love and respect the people have for him and pleading that the veteran doesn’t drag it all to mud.  He said, “You are our hero and cultural icon, you will always have our admiration and respect forever but please don't defend traitors or dabble into subjects that are above your station. Biafra is our only hope; anybody toying with it will be destroyed beyond recognition.”

The people’s love and respect for Peter Edochie is of course palpable and reflective in the tone of Dillon’s message, for the cleric, assertive and blunt, surprisingly appeared romantic with Edochie.  Bidding him farewell, the cleric greeted in Igbo, “Daalu nna'anyi ukwu.”

Nigeria made Africa a Pawn in the World

February 4, 2020

By Eluwa Chidiebere Chinazu | Biafra Writers

It's ridiculously absurd to see many African scholars still upholding the Berlin Conference of 1885 as the reason why the black race is backward economically, socially and in infrastructure. Yes, Africa was partitioned against its natural boundaries by the European superpowers, but then, that’s a good 135 years ago. What stops the continent from warding off the western influence and growing as a people?

For Africa to evolve economically, socially and in infrastructure, it requires just one African country that can stand out as an example of a new face of Africa. When this dream country rises, other African countries can borrow a leaf from her. It's never possible for the whole of Africa to develop at the same time. Africa needs only one exemplary country for the development to spread.

Nigeria had the opportunity and everything needed to be that promising country but failed woefully like a lump of shit. Instead of building Africa, Nigeria helped to teach other African countries how to ruin Africa. And now, Africa has become the most backward continent in history.

Not only is Africa backward, but the continent has also systematically become a battleground for big economic powers in the world. Every economic power wants to give Africa loan because of the gains thereof. Just as slavery is modernized by the way of human trafficking, so also is colonization resuscitated and modernized by way of offering foreign aid and debt. Can Africa, especially Nigeria, settle all their debts? I don't think so.

Statistically, from 2000-2016, China lent about $125 billion to Africa. Now the giant of Africa, Nigeria, is one of the African countries heavily indebted to China. In addition, Nigeria is also borrowing money from the international capital market, rising to $10.2bn between February 2017 and November 2018.

The private sector (banks and the bond market) accounts for 32% of Africa’s $417bn external debt. Out of the 32%, Nigeria is responsible for 24%. Kenya follows Nigeria closely, plunging Africa into severe economic and infrastructural bondage.

The President of Nigeria, Muhammad Buhari, paid deaf ears to the outcry that Nigeria is falling victim to debt and dependency to its Chinese creditors. He went further to accept a loan of $60bn from China thereby compounding Africa’s problem all the more. Currently, there's common anxiety on the continent over this loan from China.

Africa needs a nation that can confront and question the genuineness of external interference in Africa. A country that can ask some crucial questions like “why must Africa keep selling raw materials to these external bodies and end up importing manufactured products?”

Nigeria failed to address these issues because the North has been dictating what happens in the country. They have been holding the rest of the country down. The Yoruba would have been a better nation were it an independent state. The same is applicable to Biafra. Maybe these two would have been that promising nation in Africa which others would have learned from.

Fulani Herdsmen, Boko Haram, Bandits, Others Kill Over 320 Citizens in January

February 3, 2020 | The Biafra Times

By Charles Kumolu

A better way of realising the real danger posed by insecurity in Nigeria is through figures.

If you had lived in denial or underestimated the scale of the crisis, the perception changes henceforth.

As you are reading this, Boko Haram may be on its next mission while bandits and suspected herdsmen may have just concluded killings in some rural communities.

Deal with this: From the beginning of January to date, no fewer than 320 citizens have died needlessly, findings by Sunday Vanguard revealed. A breakdown implied that about 10 avoidable deaths occurred daily in January.

They mostly died in the hands of Boko Haram insurgents, suspected herdsmen, and bandits.

Other forms of violent deaths occurred but those earlier mentioned are more recurring with Boko Haram taking the lead.

Suspected herdsmen and bandits followed with their activities spread across the country, unlike Boko Haram that operates mostly in the North-East geopolitical zone.

Kidnappers continued with their reign of terror as some victims still don’t live to recount their ordeal.

More vulnerable
Just like previous years, perpetrators are as daring as ever while citizens are now more vulnerable than any other time. The absence of accountability for masterminds continues.

Borno, Plateau, Niger and Kogi states led with the highest number of deaths in the last 30 days.

Boko Haram accounted for virtually all cases in Borno the same way bandits and herdsmen were responsible for similar incidents across the country.

Within the time under review, road crashes occasioned by failed roads and other reasons also claimed many lives across the states.

Others also died in some violent acts like jungle justice and armed robbery attacks.

This year’s figures do not surpass what was obtained about this time last year by the Council on Foreign Relations, CFR, a US-based nonpartisan think tank, under its Nigeria Security Tracker, NST, programme.

The organisation monitors levels of violence by collating local media reports.

The combined estimate of CFR’s findings last January was more than 400 deaths.

State actors
However, the lesser numbers recorded last month do not mean that the rate of insecurity reduced in January, unlike the previous year.

State actors like soldiers, air force personnel and police were also victims of violent deaths last month.

Insurgents were also killed by the military but Sunday Vanguard could not independently state the actual number.

As of June last year, CFR said no fewer than 35,325 Nigerians had been killed by Boko Haram alone from 2011-2019.

With the January figures, the numbers are definitely growing in the face of what analysts described as official denial.

In November 2019, Global Terrorism Index, GTI, pegged the number of those killed by herdsmen in the previous year at 1,700.

The sect killed more than Boko Haram within that year.

The number of deaths recorded in the first month of this year suggests that should the trend continue, more Nigerians may be killed by December.

Sunday Vanguard could not get official figures from the Police as Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the force, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba did not respond to calls on his telephone. But details of deaths across the country give more insight into the danger Nigeria faces.

Kidnappings, Large-Scale Killings Hit Christians in Kaduna State, Nigeria

File photo

January 17, 2020 | The Biafra Times

JOS, Nigeria  – More than 200 Muslim Fulani herdsmen have attacked predominantly Christian villages in southern Kaduna state, Nigeria since Jan. 6, killing at least 35 people and kidnapping 58 others, including a mother and her 6-month-old baby, sources said.

Armed with AK-47s, the herdsmen on motorcycles rampaged through 10 predominantly Christian villages in Chikun and Brinin Gwari counties, Christian leaders said. Traumatized people displaced by the violence, dispossessed of their farmlands and homeless, later received calls demanding thousands of dollars in ransom for the release of their relatives, they said.

“The herdsmen, or ‘bandits’ as they now call them, began their attacks on our communities on Monday, Jan. 6, killing, maiming and kidnapping members of our families without restraint by security agencies or the military,” pastor Habila Madama, a Christian leader in the affected areas, told Morning Star News. “The herdsmen have destroyed our farmlands and left us with nothing. These Muslim Fulani herdsmen will usually come with their cattle, forcefully take over our farms, and destroy crops ready for harvests.”

He appealed to Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and the Kaduna state government to take steps to end the violence.

“As it is now, we don’t know where to go, what to feed on, or where do we get clothes to wear, especially for our children – and worst of all, where to lay our heads,” Pastor Madama said.

The assailants have called relatives of the 58 kidnapped people demanding 10 million naira (US$27,440) in ransom, said Jonathan Asake, president of the Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Union (SOKAPU) at a press conference at a refugee camp at Ungwar Beji, in Gonin Gora area of Chikun County.

READ ALSO: Operation Amotekun: What Igbo Leaders Should Learn

“About 35 people have been killed by the herdsmen, while about 58 persons have also been abducted,” Asake said, noting that there are missing people still unaccounted for. “As you can see from the way these people are, they are seriously traumatized and need immediate assistance to be able to hold on. We have been told that the bandits have destroyed all the farm products of the victims and also destroyed their houses, leaving them with nothing to call their own.”

Asake said he has been told that about 8,000 people displaced by the attacks have arrived in Buruku with nothing in their possession, and that 200 people with no food, bedding or clothing had gathered at the Ungwar Beji camp.

“Worst of all, most of the children are sick,” he said. “This calls for concern on all people of good will to come to their aid in any kind in order to give them hope of survival before steps could be taken on the area of their education.”

6-Month-Old Kidnapped

On Jan. 6 in Kasso, Chikun County, the terrorists killed Eli Sule, a 35-year-old father of five children, and kidnapped a nursing mother, Ladi Yusuf, according to a press statement on Saturday (Jan. 11) from Luka Binniyat, spokesman for the SOKAPU.

“Ladi Yusuf, a nursing mother, was abducted with her 6-month-old baby,” Binniyat said. “This morning [Jan. 11], Yusuf Sule received a call from the kidnappers. They used the phone of his kidnapped brother, Bulus Sule, and called him. The kidnappers are asking for the ransom of 5 million naira.

READ ALSO: Biafra War: It Is January 15 Again

“The brother told him that they are not in a good condition, and that the 6-month-old baby is critically sick because of the kind of condition they are being held captive in. Yusuf and the community have no means of raising that money after the bandits looted the little they had gathered, including two motorcycles Yusuf Sule owned.”

Binniyat said Danjuma Bulus, a 30-year-old father of four children, and Istifanus Auta, a 31-year-old father of three, were also killed in the attack. Bulus Sule was kidnapped along with his wife, Rebecca Sule, he said, and Yusuf Sule’s son, Irmiya Yusuf, was being treated at a medical clinic for gunshot wounds.

In Chikun County, the villages of Kuduru, Tawali, Unguwan Madaki and Katarma were attacked for five days by more than 200 herdsmen riding motorcycles and armed with AK-47s, Binniyat said.

“Information available to us has it that in Tawali village, six persons were kidnapped, and nothing has been heard of them ever since,” he said. “The ECWA [Evangelical Church of West Africa] church in the village was not spared as it was burnt down completely. Also, a young lad, by name Ezra Bala, 16, who is a student of Government College, Kwoi, was shot dead in Kuduru village during the attack.”

The gunmen on Jan. 8 attacked the Good Shepherd Major Catholic Seminary in Buwaya, kidnapping four seminarians, he said. In an attack on Badna, Guruku Ward of Chikun County, 40 people were kidnapped, including a Baptist pastor, Samaila Yusuf, he said. Assailants also looted Rumana Gbagyi and Rumana Hausa villages, carting away livestock and other valuables, he said.

In Guruku Ward, Bademi community was ransacked and looted as the assailants killed Idi Halidu and kidnapped two other people, Binniyat said. In Unguwan Buji, they killed a person identified as Sani Buji, he said.

“In a display of brazen impunity, they kidnapped 15 people and vanished into the bushes with them,” he said. “In nearby Maloma community, the invaders robbed and ransacked the village and burnt a large quantity of rice and other grains before disappearing into the unknown. All these happened in a span of four days without any response from any security agency.”

The attacks that began Jan. 6 marked a new high in casualties following earlier attacks, rights leaders said. On Dec. 16, in Chidunu village near Maraban Rido in Chikun County, the attackers killed 40-year-old Raphael Ayuba, who was married with five children, Binniyat said. Also killed were Habila Auta, 40, who left behind a wife and two children, and Buhari Abubakar, a 41-year-old father of four.

“From available information, the armed men went from house to house killing and maiming these hapless victims with no help coming from anywhere,” Binniyat said. “The spate of killings, kidnapping, arson, looting, raping and amounts paid in ransoms to these terrorists by our communities is traumatizing and impoverishing our people on a daily basis, making them susceptible to hunger and disease.”

The Kaduna state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) estimates that Christians have paid about 400 million naira (nearly US$1.1 million) to kidnappers as of Jan. 11, Binniyat said.

“We are shocked with the way that the federal government and the government of Kaduna state seem to be overwhelmed by these cruel crimes. These defenseless victims and the affected communities are left to their own fate, in the hands of these bloodthirsty militiamen,” he said. “It is sad that the same communities who are victims of these mass murders, kidnappings, arsons, lootings, rapings and other mindless evils are forced to pay their assailants huge sums to gain their freedom or that of their loved ones.”

The attackers use the ransom money to purchase more arms and enlarge their operations against the next community, he said.

“We fear that with the unchecked boldness that these heinous crimes against humanity are spreading, there is a systematic plan to wipe out our communities and take over our lands,” Binniyat said.

Nigeria ranked 12th on Open Doors’ 2020 World Watch List of countries where Christians suffer the most persecution but second in the number of Christians killed for their faith, behind Pakistan.

ISWAP beheaded 10 Christian captives in Nigeria to avenge their leaders’ death

December 27, 2019 | The Biafra Times

Islamic State West Africa Province released a video purporting to show its militants beheading ten Christian men in Nigeria, saying it was part of a campaign to avenge the deaths of its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and its spokesman.

The militant group posted the footage on its online Telegram news channel on Thursday, the day after Christmas, with Arabic captions but no audio.

The video showed men in beige uniforms and black masks lining up behind blindfolded captives then beheading 10 of them and shooting the 11th man.

An earlier video seen by Reuters said the captives had been taken from Maiduguri and Damaturu in Nigeria’s north-eastern state of Borno, where militants have been fighting for years to set up a separate Islamist state.

In that video, the captives pleaded for the Christian Association of Nigeria and President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene to save them.

Reuters could not verify the authenticity of either video.

Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) split from the militant group Boko Haram in 2016 and has become the region’s dominant jihadist group. Islamist insurgents have killed about 30,000 people in northern Nigeria in the past decade.

Islamic State leader Baghdadi died during a U.S. military raid in Syria and Muhajir in a separate military operation, both over the same weekend in late October. (Reuters)
