.       The purposes of this clarion call are to document and expose the atrocities perpetrated and their perpetrators for global attention and accountable-justice including trial at ICC and others as well as to safeguard the unarmed and defenseless citizens from remote and immediate operational atrocities of the Nigerian security agencies-noted globally as serial abusers and violators of human rights.

.       We are also determined at documenting and exposing the atrocities of the jihadist Fulani Herdsmen and their ‘Banditry’ counterparts across the East particularly in Igbo Land; being perpetrated for purpose of advancing the Government backed jihad project but deceitfully camouflaged as “rural cattle grazing”. Details Of Assassination Attempt By Suspected Government Assassins On Int’l Human Rights Lawyer (Barr Okoroafor) - Intersociety

Friday 26, 2021 || The Biafra Times

The conduct atrocities of the present central Government of Nigeria using the Nigerian Army and its immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Retired Lt Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai took another shameless and cowardly dimension in the afternoon of Thursday being yesterday, 25th Feb 2021 along Suleja-Bida Road in Niger State when Barrister Richie Ebuka Okoroafor, a British citizen of Igbo nativity and international human rights lawyer narrowly but divinely escaped assassination by suspected Government assassins. The Nigerian Government conduct atrocity perpetrators now seem to have shifted from hiring “human rights contractors” and paid ‘columnists’ and ‘writers’ to attempts at violently taking away the precious lives of critics and activists justly, pricelessly and conscientiously exposing their atrocities perpetrated in service.

The Abia State-born British Lawyer broke the sad news to Intersociety and Government of the United Kingdom yesterday evening hours after recovering from shocks associated with the assassination attempt. The attempted assassination had taken place along Suleja-Bida Road when he was returning to Abuja after visiting the Alpha Base, manned by soldiers and belonging to the Joint Security Taskforce or JTF in Niger State. His visit to the temporary Army Base followed new discovery of another batch of 109 Obigbo Army abductees including Citizen Elvis Ngozi whom his family recently located to the Base through an Army officer contacted by the Family. Barrister Okoroafor had before leaving the Base noticed that his private car had been marked with a black paint in the rim marked after he had parked the car and entered the Base.

Conscious of that fact and believing in God Almighty and the taintless spirits of those violently departed by the named perpetrators for divine protection, Lawyer Okoroafor entered his car and drove for about 20 minutes from the Base returning to Abuja when his car was crossed and blocked by an unmarked white Hilux with some armed men who opened fire instantly and at close. His car was rained with live bullets including aiming and shooting at driver’s and car owner’s sides. The Lawyer took a back reverse and managed to find his way into a market place, forcing the assassins to speed off and escape. The Lawyer was driving in a black Mercedes Car (GLK M133 Model).  The matter was later reported to the Nigeria Police Force, Suleja Area Command in Niger State. The British Government also responded swiftly and offered to evacuate the Lawyer who is of British citizenship back to UK subject to his approval.

Why They Want Barrister Okoroafor Assassinated

Apart from exposing the secret trial and execution of six Igbo Christian soldiers who were secretly executed on 24th Jan 2021 at the instruction of then Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai (as he then was), Barrister Okoroafor, also jointly with others located not less than 370 out of over 400 defenseless Obigbo residents abducted between Oct and Nov 2020 by Nigerian Army under the leadership of the same Tukur Buratai. The abductions followed a war-grade invasion and attacks by Nigerian Army on Obigbo and environs during which 102 defenseless civilians were killed and 120 others shot and injured. Out of the over 400 Obigbo abductees, 208 have been freed by Courts and names of 162 others including 53 girls and young women located. The judicial release of the 208 abductees was achieved through the dogged efforts of the Lawyer and other lawyers working with him. Though Lt Gen Buratai was asked to retire on 26th Jan 2021 by Nigerian Government but he was un-popularly made an “ambassador” despite stiff local and international oppositions and criticisms over his terribly poor human rights records.

Fingering Army & Buratai In The Assassination Attempt

It is almost an act of impossibility for the assassination attempt not to have arisen from the Nigerian Army and the camp of its immediate past Chief of Staff, Retired Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, and by extension, the Government of Nigeria. This is also owing to the fact that the ex Army chief is now a diplomatic employee of the same Government of Nigeria that appointed him Army Chief on 13th July 2015.

According to a criminological analysis done in the instant case by Emeka Umeagbalasi: “Barrister Okoroafor is a young lawyer with rising local and international reputation but he is new in Nigerian social lifestyles or its political murky waters to warrant enmity of such terminal proportion; therefore the surest and inescapable point of strong suspicion is rested in the doorsteps of the Nigerian Army and its immediate Chief of Staff, Retired Lt Gen Tukur Buratai. In this instance, the latter is the first or most suspected of the suspected. The Lawyer, as a matter of fact, has told me more than three times that he is being marked, tracked and trailed by suspected agents of the Nigerian Government since Nov 2020 when he rescued the first batch of 52 Obigbo abductees in Niger State.

Therefore, although Gov Nyesom Wike was vicariously involved in the massacre and abductions but his desperation and panics are most likely not have gone beyond the boundaries of Obigbo and Rivers State. The other accused person/entity (Army and its ex COAS) are considered more desperate and mean and may have decided to “travel” the Barrister and potential others so as to prevent further exposition of the untold stories of the Obigbo Army atrocities or for purpose of preventing international embarrassments and sanctions against the newly appointed non-career ambassador(s) (i.e. ex Army Chief). Looking at the circumstances and patterns of the assassination attempt, too, there are strong suggestive of the fact that the assassins are likely the serving members of the “Special Assignment” squad of the Nigerian Army or DSS.

Attached are the pictures of Barrister Richie Ebuka Okoroafor’s Mercedes Car riddled with bullets and some expended cartridges recovered from the scene of the attempted assassination.

Biafra: Analyzing The Inefficacies Of History Study In The Nigerian Schools

By Eluwa Chidiebere Chinazu | Biafra Writers

January 29, 2021

Never you undermine the efficacy of history in the formation of a person, history has a way of molding the reasoning capacity and the mental toughness of a person; you cannot achieve much through determination or physical muscle what the knowledge of history can give. The truth is that you have to know your history. Today, religion is making wave and people can die for it while emulating the forebearers of the gospel. History is paramount to every sane society so as to enlighten the younger generation who were not born then to come in handy what their forebears went through as to know why they are having and enjoying a bettered society of equity and justice.

This is because they are being thought of it.   They read stories of Moses, Jesus Christ, Muhammed, and all their apostles. When they are faced with danger, they get sense and courage by remembering how the forebears of the gospel stood firm before their enemies and won. They can even go ahead to quote many verses in the Bible or Qur'an just to keep their spirit fit for the danger ahead.  In the last EndSARS protest that failed, evidence of lack of history study abounds, it was glared for all to see. And I believe that lack of history study in Nigeria is among other reasons why the protest failed.

The school of thought here is to brighten your mind as to understand why every insane society needs revolution to usher in a sane society for all class of persons. During the last failed protest in Nigeria tagged #EndSARS protest, no placard had a quote from any of the great revolutionaries of the world in old and modern day history, no historical image of a revolutionist was displayed as to what motivated the Nigerian youths to ask for the already corrupt embedded status quo to be changed. Protest commentators never quoted any revolutionary quote from present or past great revolutionaries.

Getting your mind equipped with the events of successful revolutions in history is a motivational aid needed during a revolution to set a pace.   Had the protesters known that a great revolution is never the fault of the people, but that of the government and that riots are the voices of the unheard, they wouldn't have allowed themselves to be fooled by the government with the element of ethnicity and religious sentiment.  Had they known how bloody the French and American revolutions were, they would have understood that the Lekki toll gate massacre was only a child's play.

They would have learned how to fight back violently not minding ethnicity, tribe or religious factors. It is disheartening how the youths were played by those who have mortgage their future into the hands of borrowing without doing the needful to better their lives and society, of a truth, the Nigerian elites of today know very well that today's Nigerian youths are gullible and can be easily be deceived or bought over and this pattern they have hold firm grip to turn their lives into servitude.

The said Nigerian leaders whose on the assumption of office sworn an oath to protect the lives and properties of her citizens ignorantly invited their murderous Nigerian military to shoot at sight innocent Nigerian youth protesters who were seen in the streets demanding for what is right for them, till date nobody from the circles of those who committed this wholesale murder on the youths has been brought to book or justice dispense accordingly as one of the factors that define a sane society, why this happened is because the Nigerian youths failed to know their history or were they able to consult nor come in handy with their history journals so as to serve as a guide to them in order to achieve their aim of having a better society of justice, equity, freedom in all sphere of life.

Human Rights Abuse Report: We are not answerable to the US, UK or the EU

December 13, 2019 | The Biafra Times

Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesman, says as a sovereign nation, Nigeria is not be bothered about the reports from the United States, United Kingdom, and European Union as regards abuse of human rights issues.

Adesina spoke when he featured on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, on Wednesday, December 10, 2019.

While reacting to the reports by the international community that Nigerian has a high record of human rights abuses.

The presidential spokesperson asked the US, UK and EU to focus their energy on their own issues.

He added that the presidency is not bothered about the minority’s perception that there is an abuse of the rule of law and repression of freedom of speech.

“We are not answerable to the US, the UK or the EU. We are Nigeria, a sovereign country,” he said.

” Those countries and entities have issues of their own. Let them deal with their issues. Let Nigeria also deal with her internal issues. We are not answerable to them. If the perception is not right, why do you need to get worried? The perception is not right.

“It doesn’t get anybody worried. The president knows the truth about what is happening in the country, so no need for any worries or agitation.”

He also added that the ultimatum issued by 14 civil society groups as well as the editorial by The PUNCH was not the mind of the majority of Nigerians.

“But the question is who are these people and how many are they among about 200 million people? Who are they?” he asked.

“A tiny but vocal minority who will always complain. If they mistakenly get to heaven, they will complain about the conditions in heaven.

“So why do you worry yourself about those set of people? When you talk of the media, you are speaking as if there is a unanimity among them. No, you have a minimum of 15 major newspapers in the country and you have other smaller ones, 100 of them.

“There is no unanimity that there is repression in the land, disregard of the rule of law. So, if one of them comes out to say that, it is just an opinion. It has a right to it, nobody will begrudge them.

“How many people do they amount to? We can’t begin to take the minority to represent the majority.”

Asked if the federal government would review some of its activities and actions, he said only genuine issues would be considered.

“Only if they are genuine issues, they will always be looked into,” he said.

“We have had instances in which the government had to reverse itself because there were concerns raised. It shows that the government is responsive but you cannot listen to a babble of voices and want to answer everyone. It will distract you from what you are doing. You let them have their say.”

FIFA World Cup: Biafrans Stand In Solidarity With Iceland For Their Humanitarian Role During The Biafra Genocidal War

By Princewill Akubumma | For Biafra Writers

June 19, 2018

The Nigeria-Biafra war of 1967 to 1970 has ended but the agony, misery, pains, rivers of bloodshed and death that characterized the war is still very fresh in our memories like it happened just yesterday, especially in the hearts of Biafrans.

Due to the total blockade of the air, land and sea of the Biafran territories by the Nigerian military government and their British allies and other Arab countries, the newly-declared and short-lived Republic of Biafra was thrown into a theater of war and her towns and villages turned into a slaughter house and burial grounds.

This inordinate tactics that was adopted by the Yakubu Gowon-led military government and his finance minister, Obafemi Awolowo was given a nod by Britain as the only tool with which to subdue the "never-die" and strong-willed resistance of the Biafrans who had made up their minds to free themselves from the constant pogrom and ethnic cleansing targeted on them all over Nigeria, especially in the northern region, at that time.
But this leaves every little child, nursing mothers, the elderly and the sick ones in Biafra territories malnourished due to lack of food and clean water supply, thereby attracting international sympathy from men and women of goodwill across Europe and other parts of the world.

We recall that the Icelandic Red Cross through the government of the Iceland, played a major role by donating generously, sending relief materials such as food, medicines, clothing and even drums of fuel to Biafra, in order to convey the relief materials to the interior villages of Biafra territories to feed the dying and hungry in many refugee camps.

During these suicide missions, many Icelandic Red Cross pilots and health workers put their lives at risk, crossing the enemy's line to save Biafra from starvation and diseases, most times they have to force their humanitarian planes to land in the darkness of a make-shift airstrip in order to escape the anti-aircraft guns by the Nigerian military and their Egyptian hostile pilots.

This is indeed something to be remembered by Biafrans after 51 years of that genocidal war that claimed the lives of over 3.5 million innocent women and children, during which many more would have died if not the generosity and humanitarian gesture of the Icelandic Red Cross through their government.

Come June 22, 2018, all the Biafrans both in Russia and at home will support the football national team of Iceland over the Nigerian national team at the FIFA World Cup, to remind the Icelanders that we, the Biafrans will never forget the good work they rendered to our forefathers, ancestors and older generations in 1968 by saving many lives of Biafrans while endangering theirs for our sake.

On Friday, June 22, 2018, we will remember, we shall never forget until the Republic of Biafra is restored and we shall continue to remember that act of kindness from Iceland afterwards.

All hail Icelandic national football team!

All hail Biafra!

U.S. releases damning human rights report on Nigeria under Buhari 10 days before talks with Trump

Published by The Biafra Times, April 23, 2018

By Simon Ateba

Washington D.C. - The United States government on Friday released a damning human rights report on Nigeria, saying grave violations continued to increase in 2017 while officials who perpetrated them were almost never prosecuted by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Why it matters: President Buhari is scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump at the White House on April 30, and both men would likely discuss further U.S. military assistance to Nigeria against the backdrop of serious human rights violations by security forces who use the same weapons to kill civilians.

The U.S. annual report on global human rights violations, released in Washington D.C. on Friday afternoon, said the administration of President Buhari “took steps to investigate alleged abuses, but fewer steps to prosecute officials who committed violations, whether in the security forces or elsewhere in the government”.

“Impunity remained widespread at all levels of government. The government did not adequately investigate or prosecute most of the major outstanding allegations of human rights violations by the security forces or the majority of cases of police or military extortion or other abuse of power,” the report said.

You can read the executive summary of the report here. Human Rights Report on Nigeria Today News Africa

It said the most significant human rights issues included extrajudicial and arbitrary killings; disappearances and arbitrary detentions; torture, particularly in detention facilities, including sexual exploitation and abuse; use of children by some security elements, looting, and destruction of property.

There were also civilian detentions in military facilities, often based on flimsy evidence; denial of fair public trial; executive influence on the judiciary; infringement on citizens’ privacy rights; restrictions on freedoms of speech, press, assembly, and movement

This was in addition to official corruption; lack of accountability in cases involving violence against women and children, including female genital mutilation/cutting and sexual exploitation of children; trafficking in persons; early and forced marriages; criminalization of status and same-sex sexual conduct based on sexual orientation and gender identity; and forced and bonded labor.

The report recognized that Boko Haram terror group also committed a myriad of human rights violations, killing and torturing and imprisoning women and children and bombing entire villages.

“The groups conducted numerous attacks on government and civilian targets that resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries, widespread destruction, the internal displacement of approximately 1.8 million persons, and external displacement of an estimated 205,000 Nigerian refugees to neighboring countries, principally Cameroon, Chad, and Niger,” the report said.

Boko Haram’s numerous attacks often targeted civilians. The group, which recruited and forcefully conscripted child soldiers, carried out scores of suicide bombings–many by young women and girls forced into doing so–and other attacks on population centers in the Northeast and in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger.
“Abductions by Boko Haram continued. The group subjected many abducted women and girls to sexual and gender-based violence, including forced marriages and rape. The government investigated attacks by Boko Haram and ISIS-WA and took some steps to prosecute their members, although the majority of suspected insurgent group supporters were held in military custody without charge,

“In its response to Boko Haram and ISIS-WA attacks, and at times in response to crime and insecurity in general, security service personnel perpetrated extrajudicial killings and engaged in torture, sexual exploitation, and abuse, arbitrary detention, mistreatment of detainees, use of children by some security elements, looting, and destruction of property. The country also suffered from ethnic, regional, and religious violence,” the report added.

Biafra: Why Are South East Governors, Nnia Nwodo And His Ohanaeze Ndigbo Cowardly Silent Over The Orchestrated Genocide By Fulani Herdsmen

January 17, 2018

IPOB Press Statement

In view of the ongoing sponsored and unwarranted killings, including the massacre of innocent citizens through out Nigeria today by Fulani Herdsmen, we the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and it's leadership worldwide, wish to ask South East Governors and Nnia Nwodo led Ohaneze Ndigbo why they have maintained a cowardly silence. Why won't they command their fellow Northern Governors and Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) to proscribe or ban the activities of Fulani terror herdsmen as Northern governors and elders commanded them to do in the run up to Operation Python Dance. It is on record that Okezie Ikpeazu and other South East governors with the support of Ohaneze Ndigbo, openly announced before the world in Enugu that all IPOB peaceful activities were henceforth proscribed. That singular pronouncement by Gov. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State gave impetus to the military to hastily label IPOB a terror group.

What Fulani herdsmen have been doing is mass murder and orchestrated genocide, yet all the anti-IPOB voices from the South East, South South and South West have fallen silent. They are scared of making the same demands Northern politicians forced them to make in the case of IPOB. Gov. Rochas Okorocha has suddenly gone mute, the unity of his beloved Nigeria is no longer threatened despite the senseless savagery of Fulani terror herdsmen. Nobody is hearing from Tanko Yakassai and Ango Abdullahi again.

This has clearly shown that South Eastern Governors, Nnia Nwodo led Ohaneze, South South and South West politicians, with a few notable exceptions, are opportunistic charlatans that will do anything to please the North in return for power and wealth. It doesn't matter how many are killed, how many villages are sacked and pillaged, as long as Fulani power brokers in the North controls all the levers of governance and military, they must be obeyed. South East governors and Ohaneze Ndigbo are the very worst culprits in this regard.

At the height of the irrational and rabid anti-IPOB sentiment in the Nigerian media, Igbo governors were seen openly towing the line of common Hausa Fulani Youths, when they boasted they will take the battle to the door step of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. A reality which happened when Nigerian soldiers stormed and destroyed the home of our leader as the youths had boasted. Today, all are silent as rivers of blood flow all over our land.

Till date, we keep wondering why Igbo governors and Nnia Nwodo led Ohaneze Ndigbo will openly condemn the peaceful activities of IPOB, an organization that have no record of any violence or killing, while the they remain mute in the face of murderous and barbaric Fulani terrorists disguised as cattle herders.

We are aware that men and women of good conscience all around the world can see the blatant hypocrisy and rampant deception within all strata of the Nigerian establishment. A peaceful organization with no history of violence is labeled a terrorist group, tortured, killed and members imprisoned without trial; whereas a certified murderous Fulani outfit are allowed to literally get away with murder. Nigeria is proving to be a country without any understanding of what natural justice is all about.

BIAFRA: IPOB COMMENDS A.U. FOR PROMPT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF PETITION

December 30, 2017

IPOB PRESS RELEASE | PUBLISHED BY THE BIAFRA TIMES

The leadership and family members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide commend African Union Human Right Commission for their prompt acknowledgment of the petition submitted to them by IPOB team of lawyers. This petition became necessary as a means to explore other legal remedies outside Nigeria given that due process of law is virtually non-existent in the country under the current Buhari administration.

Against the backdrop of well-documented incidents of human rights abuses by the Nigerian Government and her security operatives, it has become necessary to escalate the matter to the African Union given that both ECOWAS and Nigerian courts are terrified to rule against the Buhari regime in any matter concerning Biafra.

READ MORE: EDITORIAL: The Release of 500 Inmates From Kano Prisons Exposed President Buhari’s Mindless Favoritism And Preferential Treatment To His Northern Kinsmen

We hope and pray that Africa Court on Human Rights will prove to be the opposite of ECOWAS and Nigerian courts where the presidency determines every legal outcome or which judgment to obey or ignore.

Nigerian Government through the Attorney General of the Federation including those in the judiciary have been using delay tactics to frustrate every case involving IPOB since the invasion and abduction of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at his compound in Afaraukwu Ibeku Umuahia Abia State. We hope this ugly trend will be reversed by the African Court on Human Rights.
