Removal of History in School Curriculum Delayed Nigeria Breakup

By Eluwa Chidiebere Chinazu | Biafra Writers

March 25, 2021.

From time immemorial, history has been sidelined in Nigeria's education curriculum. Although valued all around the world, history has been swept under carpet in Nigeria.

Why the Federal government removed such a subject that informs people about their background – a subject that enables people to have an understanding of the nature of people they encounter – Is yet to be ascertained.  History as a subject doesn't promote any social vices rather it teaches people about their root and values.

Only a society like Nigeria with horrible dark sides in history can remove history in their education curriculum. Today in Nigeria, students finish school without having an understanding of life due to lack of history knowledge.

The Nigerian populace has been deceived into believing that there is unity in diversity. This lie wouldn't have lasted had history been taught in schools. A simple question of if any country had survived such diversity would have been asked by the younger generation. The younger generation would have made references to Yugoslavia, Soviet Union and the Partition of India of 1947.

Had the young generation read about the concept of Interventionism in history, the activities of Britain in Nigeria would have been clearly understood before now. Britain being an interventionist country to Nigeria, will always ferment violence.

The first war was caused by Britain who manipulated the North and the North Manipulated the Southwest. In the war no British person died, rather they benefited. An interventionist action always operates under the threat of violence. Other interventionist activities include blockades, economic boycotts, and assassinations of key officials. Britain has used the illiterate North to perpetrate these things.

All these were going on until the coming of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who used his radio broadcast to awaken the conscience of the people. Being a historian, he found it necessary to help fill the vacuum by teaching Nigerians the history that there government denied them.

Today, with a stitch of history permeated by the Biafran leader, we now have folks like Simon Ekpa, Sunday Igboho and others who have risen up to say that enough is enough.

The aftermath is the different calls for the breakup of Nigeria by the ethnic nationalities. Naira being the currency of Nigeria, is under serious attack as the Yoruba Nation launches theirs (Fads). More are still in the pipeline coming.

Above all, it is an established fact that history precedes development in any country. When a people are denied history, patriotism disappears. When patriotism disappears, the country degenerates into chaos.

Biafra: Analyzing The Inefficacies Of History Study In The Nigerian Schools

By Eluwa Chidiebere Chinazu | Biafra Writers

January 29, 2021

Never you undermine the efficacy of history in the formation of a person, history has a way of molding the reasoning capacity and the mental toughness of a person; you cannot achieve much through determination or physical muscle what the knowledge of history can give. The truth is that you have to know your history. Today, religion is making wave and people can die for it while emulating the forebearers of the gospel. History is paramount to every sane society so as to enlighten the younger generation who were not born then to come in handy what their forebears went through as to know why they are having and enjoying a bettered society of equity and justice.

This is because they are being thought of it.   They read stories of Moses, Jesus Christ, Muhammed, and all their apostles. When they are faced with danger, they get sense and courage by remembering how the forebears of the gospel stood firm before their enemies and won. They can even go ahead to quote many verses in the Bible or Qur'an just to keep their spirit fit for the danger ahead.  In the last EndSARS protest that failed, evidence of lack of history study abounds, it was glared for all to see. And I believe that lack of history study in Nigeria is among other reasons why the protest failed.

The school of thought here is to brighten your mind as to understand why every insane society needs revolution to usher in a sane society for all class of persons. During the last failed protest in Nigeria tagged #EndSARS protest, no placard had a quote from any of the great revolutionaries of the world in old and modern day history, no historical image of a revolutionist was displayed as to what motivated the Nigerian youths to ask for the already corrupt embedded status quo to be changed. Protest commentators never quoted any revolutionary quote from present or past great revolutionaries.

Getting your mind equipped with the events of successful revolutions in history is a motivational aid needed during a revolution to set a pace.   Had the protesters known that a great revolution is never the fault of the people, but that of the government and that riots are the voices of the unheard, they wouldn't have allowed themselves to be fooled by the government with the element of ethnicity and religious sentiment.  Had they known how bloody the French and American revolutions were, they would have understood that the Lekki toll gate massacre was only a child's play.

They would have learned how to fight back violently not minding ethnicity, tribe or religious factors. It is disheartening how the youths were played by those who have mortgage their future into the hands of borrowing without doing the needful to better their lives and society, of a truth, the Nigerian elites of today know very well that today's Nigerian youths are gullible and can be easily be deceived or bought over and this pattern they have hold firm grip to turn their lives into servitude.

The said Nigerian leaders whose on the assumption of office sworn an oath to protect the lives and properties of her citizens ignorantly invited their murderous Nigerian military to shoot at sight innocent Nigerian youth protesters who were seen in the streets demanding for what is right for them, till date nobody from the circles of those who committed this wholesale murder on the youths has been brought to book or justice dispense accordingly as one of the factors that define a sane society, why this happened is because the Nigerian youths failed to know their history or were they able to consult nor come in handy with their history journals so as to serve as a guide to them in order to achieve their aim of having a better society of justice, equity, freedom in all sphere of life.

History repeating itself, Wike and Ken Saro Wiwa - Mazi Nnamdi Kanu

November 10, 2020 | The Biafra Times

A little over 50 years ago, a young pretender to the throne Wike is aspiring to occupy today, by the name Ken Saro Nwiwa, later named Wiwa, just as Nwike is now Wike instead of Nwike by removing the first letter 'N' in his Igbo surname, made the mistake of betraying his own, the people of Biafra. Today his village has not only been destroyed by pollution courtesy of successive regimes of the same cattle herding, intellectually backward and roundly primitive Fulani tribe, they also KILLED him. And I ask, is Ogoni free today as a result of Saro Wiwa's betrayal? We all all know the answer to that. Wike, this is the same prize you will pay for your betrayal of Biafra but yours will be worse because the name Wike will no longer exist.

To add a lorry load of insult to injury, they have now converted Saro Wiwa's village to a land of prisoners and the dead. An important lesson to the people of Ogoni and those who may be contemplating supporting Wike. You all must know that betrayal of your people never pays! In the end your Fulani masters will kill you and the same people you claim you are trying to shield from Biafra, enslaved for life.

Exact scenario in Ogoni land played out a while back in Oduduwa land. A Yoruba prince and warrior named Afonja the then Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland from Illorin a core Yoruba territory, betrayed his nation by serving the cause of the Janjaweed Fulani caliphate as Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing today. Like Ken Saro Wiwa, he too paid with his life because the Fulani Janjaweed he so dilligently served killed him and took over his land. They did not just build prisons and burial grounds in Illorin, they took the whole town over and in place of the usual Yoruba Oba they installed their Fulani emir. To this day Fulani has been ruling Illorin a Yoruba town. Illorin now report to Sokoto not  Ife. Betrayal of your people never pays!

Sometimes I wish Nigerian youths and some of their confused, ego-maniacal and murderous rulers like Wike can pause and have regard for history.
