How Fulani Conquered Our Hausa Land In 1808 - Activist

April 30, 2021 | The Biafra Times

A renowned Kaduna-based activist from Hausa extraction (name withheld) has given a complete history of how the Fulani people conquered his Hausa tribe so many years back: "The conquest began so many years back, even before our grandparents were born. We all know the story of Usman Dan Fodio. Even if you don't know the story of him, you must have heard of this name.

"He was the first Fulani person to step his legs into what we now refer to as Nigeria. All the way from Fouta D'Jallon, very close to the boundary between Mali and Guinea, Usman Dan Fodio assembled a Fulani army to lead in jihad (Islamic holy conquest) against the Hausa kingdoms of northern Nigeria. The forces of Usman Dan Fodio slowly took over more and more of the Hausa kingdoms, captured Gobir in 1808 and executed Yunfa.

"The war resulted in the creation of the Sokoto caliphate, headed by Usman Dan Fodio himself, which became one of the largest states in Africa in the 19th century. His success inspired similar jihads in Western Africa. The Hausa had established well organised city states before the advent of the Fulani. These states included Katsina, Daura, Kano Zazzau (Zaria), Biram, Gobir and Borno. Some of these were conquered and re-established by the Fulani. A few other kingdoms such as Katagum, Hadejia and Gombe were founded.

"The coming of the Fulani into Hausaland resulted in significant changes in the area. They brought the full force of Islam which became a great factor of social life and culture. In education, dress, taste and outlook, the Hausa and their Fulani conquerors became part of the Islamic culture world. This influence remains till today. Today Hausas are only used as foot soldiers by their new master's the fulanies. This is what Fulanis want to replicate in other parts of Nigeria. Fulanis, very vicious, crafty, cunning, cruel, brutal, unforgiving and power mongers.

"The point to be noted about the Fulani conquest of all the Hausa kingdoms is that, it would have been absolutely impossible had many Hausas in the Hausa kingdoms did not join hand with the Usman Dan Fodio to fight against their kings and leaders whom they accused of being corrupt, which led to total collapse of all Hausa kingdoms. Usman Dan Fodio replaced all Hausa Kings (Zakis) with Fulani Sultan and Emirs and rule over them.

"Before the Fulani invasion, Hausas were the great merchants of the great Trans Sahara trade, but today, they have become beggars (almajiris), slaves, useless, less than second class citizens in their own ancestral land, and their Fulani rulers continue to use Islamic religion to make them believe that it is the will of God for them to be poor and beggars"

Biafra: Before The North Issues Another Quit Notice Over IPOB’s Election Boycott, Bring Back Our Children

By Eluwa Chidiebere Chinazu | For Biafra Writers

November 6, 2018

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Biafran people has spoken and the enemy understood him well. Albeit, some people might take his words to be a mere "lip speech," it doesn't matter since every fool must learn in one way or the other.

Remember, this work is never meant to apportion blame to anybody but devised to enable those who cannot read the science of time to come to the understanding of what time is saying at this point in our lives so as to make haste while the sun shines. From the view of the writer, l can see freedom conceived for the Biafrans and this time, it will come to light. I see freedom in the belly of the yellow sun protruding. The evil night is about to end.

It is high time Biafrans understood how the northern psyche works. Whenever they see Biafrans united, they became rattled and upset. To ease their anger, they slaughter any Biafran they see. The "Quit Notice" issued on Biafrans to vacate the North was as a result of the 2016 Heroes' Day sit-at-home exercise which was inarguably 100% successful in Biafraland.

Pan-Igbo organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo under the leadership of John Nnia Nwodo promised the northern oligarchy the head of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu because they felt threatened by his insurmountable and unquenchable agitation for a free sovereign Biafran state and to avert the looming horror that was perceived at the height of the quit notice. But as it stands now, Ohanaeze has nothing left to promise or part with if their northern masters should come calling again. The forthcoming 2019 elections is almost here and the Biafrans are set to boycott it. This time around, there shall be no notice before the bloodbath. The truth must be spoken no matter what – Biafrans living in Northern Nigeria should bring back our children this December before the hot period of the election.

The uncomfortable truth before us all is that the gory events of 1660s is glowering at us. And if we don't learn from past events of the pogroms of 1960s, it shall be repeated yet again. As Chinua Achebe would narrate the events of 1960s as follows;
"The northerners turned on Igbo (Biafrans) civilians living in the North and unleashed waves of brutal massacres that Colin Legun of The Observer (UK) was the first to describe as a pogrom. Thirty thousand civilian men, women and children were slaughtered, hundreds of thousands were wounded, maimed and violated, their homes and property looted and burned- and no one asked any questions. A Sierra Leonean living in Northern Nigeria at that time wrote home in horror: 'The killing of the Igbos has become a state industry in Nigeria'."

Achebe in his further expression of surprise over the carriage of the Nigerian government controlled by the Northerners said, "What terrified me about the massacres in Nigeria was that: If it was only a question of rioting in the streets and so on, that would be bad enough, but it could be explained. It happens everywhere in the world. But in this particular case a detailed plan for mass killing was implemented by the government – the army, the police, the very people who were there to protect lives and property."

From the above citation, a salient conclusion could be explored – the federal government ordered the army and the police to kill the Biafrans living in the north and west.

Also, Oyeweso (1992) noted that the advice by Chukwuemeka Ojukwu to the fleeing Easterners to return to the North for the sake of national unity was a decision Ojukwu later regretted as thousands who heeded his advice went back to the North and were slaughtered during the Northern Pogrom.

As Emefiena Ezeani pointed out in his book titled: ‘In Biafra Africa Died,’ "The refugees (the fleeing Biafrans from the North) told stories of horror; how they were hunted from one place to another, the raping of their daughters and wives in their presence, how fathers and husbands were chopped to death in the presence of their children and wives, how pregnant women were disemboweled and unborn babies killed."

I am not giving anybody any order but our children are precious. We can't afford to have them killed again in the name of maintaining national unity. A stitch in time saves nine. This piece of work should be seen as an advice not an order. Use this December to safely bring back our children.

THE FULANI AND HAUSA - A DANCE OF SUPPRESSION

By Victor Wilberforce

The Biafra Times | Wednesday, March 7, 2018

"When a people are economically emasculated they are more susceptible to political manipulation "

- Fulani Proverb

Below are some of the questions that I asked my friend Abdulrof theMagnifico Suleiman that are still waiting for answers. I know why he hesitates to answer but I shall go forward to answer them

A.  "What were the promises made to the Hausa people by the Fulani Ulama?  Which of those promises were fulfilled?"

B.  "Kindly assess the standard of living in Hausaland,  before the Jihad,  and 200 years after the Jihad viz the Hausa and the Fulani?"

The Hausa people were Moslems before the entrance of Fulani into Hausaland about 500 years ago.

When the Fulani came into Hausaland,  the Hausa were some of the most advanced people in the World and certainly the most advanced in Africa.

To achieve relevance and acceptance,  the Fulani Ulama promised heaven on earth. They promised an egalitarian society. They promised equity. They promised a just society. They promised to abolish slavery. But on assumption of power all the ills redoubled and slavery intensified.

Fulani scam of Islamic reformation have left the Hausa people impoverished and with the worst developmental indices/poorest standard of living all over the world. The Hausa people have been turned to hewers of wood and fetchers of water in their own lands.

The word Hausa -  Fulani does not define a mix between the Hausa and Fulani by marriage. They are still very distinct. Hausa -  Fulani is the description of the Fulani oligarchy and Hausa peasantry in Hausaland. In the segregative society that Hausaland is today,  the Fulani are the Governors,  Senators, Emirs, Ministers etc and the Hausa are the Almajirai -  the Hoi polloi.

During the Jihad Usman Dan Fodio gave out 14 flags, all to Fulani in an Army dominated by Hausa people. Those 14 flags were the seed of the Fulani Emirate system that have dominated Hausaland. Today there are no Hausa Kings in Hausaland.

This is the major problem of Nigeria. It is a clog in the wheel of Nigeria development that the Hausa people who are some of the most populous in Africa have been subjugated to a life of subsistence by the Fulani.

President Jonathan during his tenure realized that there is no way to develop Nigeria without developing the Hausa people. So he declared FREE &  COMPULSORY EDUCATION in Hausaland in his bid to fight the abysmal illiteracy that pervaded the land.

To achieve this he built 253 Almajiri Secondary Schools (Hausa are primarily the Almajiri -  Fulani are not Almajiri)  and 14 Federal Universities with 9 in the North.

Agriculture is the mainstay of the great Hausa people. President Jonathan built more Dams and Access Roads in the North and Nigeria than any other regime.

Likewise, he subsidized fertilizers and removed the odious middlemen who pride themselves as Fertilizer Cabal by identifying the actual local farmers and communicating with them directly on their needs and requirements.

He built Farmers Cooperatives and provided soft loans for farmers.

No Nigeria leader including the 2 Fulanis Sir Ahmadu Bello and Malam Aminu Kano have done for the North what President Jonathan has done.

While he did all these, he did not know that he was incurring the wrath of the Fulani elite class who formulated the 3 prong approach of disinformation,  Boko Haram insurgency and Fulani Presidency in the guise of Northern Presidency in order to oust him.

The presentation of GMB a Fulani that is loved and have been adopted by the Hausa was a coup de grace. However,  the amiable PMB has allowed all the developmental structures put in place by the Jonathan administration to wither away.

It is said that it is in the interest of the Fulani to keep the Hausa illiterate and dependent so that they can continue with their monopoly of power in Hausaland.  BOKO HARAM means that "Western Education is evil" yet the children of the Fulani attend the best schools in the world in search of Western Education.'
