Stop Wasting Your Time Praying, Beg The Igbo For Civil War Genocide - Fani-Kayode Blasts Gowon

August 13, 2019

By Iheme Kelechi

Nigerian popular controversial Critic, and former minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has said the various prayer sessions being conducted by former Military Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon remains a waste if he does not apologise to the Igbo over the genocide against the group during the Civil War.

Fani-Kayode, in a statement on Monday, said 300 Igbo army officers, including an Igbo Head of State, were murdered on July 29th, 1966 by northern army officers, while 30,000 innocent and defenceless Igbo civilians (many historians say the figure is actually over 100,000) were slaughtered between September and December 1966 by savage and barbaric northern mobs in three separate pogroms in the north before the outbreak of the Nigerian civil war.

“Finally 3 million innocent and defenceless Igbo civilians, including one million children, were targeted and butchered by the Nigerian Army and the northern “Gwodo-Gwodo” auxiliaries and militias during the Nigerian civil war between 1967 and 1970,” he said.

Fani-Kayode said if the Nigerian people really wanted their fortunes to change for the better and that if they really wanted to be restored to the great and prosperous nation and people that they once were, they needed to ask the Lord for forgiveness for what they did and what they were still doing to the Igbo nation.

“General Yakubu Gowon can conduct all the prayer sessions that he wants for Nigeria but until he acknowledges the fact that the genocide that the Igbo people were subjected to under his watch between 1966 and 1970 was unacceptable and until he appeals to the Igbo nation to forgive Nigeria for what we did to them, things will get from bad to worse.

“Though it is unknown to most, our nation has been afflicted with a deep spiritual wound which was inflicted as a consequence of our barbaric actions over the years and particularly before and during the civil war. This is a spiritual matter and sadly and regrettably we see its consequences unfolding in the physical realm before our very eyes every day.

“The shedding of innocent blood always results in divine retribution and it goes from generation to generation. Unless remorse is displayed, forgiveness sought and national repentance is established, the cycle of divine retribution and judgement will continue unabated and affect the lives of millions."

“The civil war “Gwodo-Gwodo” militias, made up of savage, bloodthirsty, heartless, godless, dark and evil men from Chad, Niger Republic, Mali and parts of north-western Nigeria are the spiritual forefathers and the same dark forces that have resurrected as terrorist and killer herdsmen that are slaughtering our people ALL over the country today,” he added.

According to Fani-Kayode, “the whole thing has come back to torment and haunt us and only God can deliver us from their hand. The fastest way to make your nation the land of the accursed and rejected is by continuously shedding innocent blood and show no remorse for it."

“We must recognise and accept this, we must endeavour to stop the violence and killings, we must beg God and our victims for forgiveness and we must do the right thing. Anything short of that will not put us on the road to redemption and restoration. May God open our eyes to see and accept these harsh realities and may He guide, help and lead us in all our endeavours.”

Biafra: Gowon's Indefensible Lies Against Ojukwu And The Contortions Of The Aburi Accord

By Chikwas Onu Ikpe || For Biafra Writers

October 31, 2017

The former Head of State of Nigeria, Yakubu "Jack" Dan-Yumma Gowon should be in the dock for the liability of 'defamation of the dead' [Ojukwu]; and answerable to the most brutish (genocidal) crime against humanity, that engulfed a good number [3.5 million] of the Biafran populace via the Nigeria-Biafra War.

The Aburi Accord which was reached on January 4 and 5, 1967, at a meeting attended by representatives of both the then Federal Military Government of Nigeria, led by General Yakubu Gowon, and the then Eastern region's leader Lieutenant Colonel Odumegwu Ojukwu (of the blessed memory), at Aburi in Ghana; proffered a last chance of shrinking an out-and-out combative war between the Eastern Nigeria and the rest of Nigeria.

In all likelihood, the infraction of the Accord steered the despicable carnage of the civil war. However, anybody who was present at the Aburi meeting or has read the proceedings, the bulletin, edicts, and literatim reports would be astounded how Yakubu Gowon who acclaimed himself as a head of state could do so without qualms, pervert an official approbation that has his imprint. Upon Gowon's return to Nigeria, his duplicitous implementation of an important provision of the Accord were in toto at variance with the Aburi agreements. The super "bureaucrats" swayed him to hurl the agreements.

After half a century, Gowon should at least be repentant for committing the most untamed, vicious (genocidal) crime; but gathered the gutsiness to calumniate the reputation of the hallowed memory of our valiant Hero, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. Gowon has lied through his teeth; saying that he was determined to keep the country united by "assuaging the South-East," are gibbers of fairy tales full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. Indeed, they are empty rhetorics intended to mitigate the villainous crime he had committed.

The conclusions in Aburi were no proposals but decisions, not without the imprimatur of the Supreme Military Council. Distinct matters were endorsed; the decrees and sections of decrees to be repealed, the mechanics of army reorganization, and the question of rehabilitation of displaced persons. Nonetheless, Gowon decided in antithesis to dissolve the regional structures, and the constitutional conference (that should have continued/drafted a new constitution for Nigeria - as was accorded in Aburi); and then unilaterally geared up towards the creation of 12 states.

On the reorganization of the army, Gowon has failed to explain to the world what he meant by the "army continuing to be under one command," when in the very Accord of his statement, he also speaks of an agreement to establish area commands corresponding with the existing regional boundaries. This contradiction in itself tells the truth, and one does not need to lapidate the point.

Resultantly, these unveiled the concrete agenda for the breach of the agreement. Still and all, they opportunely labelled Ojukwu as the ambitious one, in contempt of unclouded evidence to the contrary. How can one who wanted a new constitution drafted and a reel back to civil rule be indicted of inciting a war?

Gowon has failed to inform the world that owing to the decisions taken at Aburi, the Federal government meant no more than the Supreme Military Council, "to which any decision affecting the whole country shall be referred for determination. Provided that where it is not possible for a meeting to be held, the matter requiring determination must be referred to Military Governors for their comment and concurrence." Hence, reneging on the Aburi Accord, this in particular, was borne out of his sheer megalomania and thirst for power; in cahoots with the elites in Lagos.

A crying shame on Yakubu Dan-Yumma Gowon; the self-acclaimed originator of 'Nigeria Prays' foundation, for stirring up such a barefaced lie on the untainted reputation of our supreme warlord. History will ever be unkind to you. It is never too late; you must surely pay your pound of flesh.

We remain who we are. WE ARE BIAFRANS!
