IPOB’s Professionalism Amidst Adversity: A Testament to Resilience and Integrity

IPOB’s Professionalism Amidst Adversity: A Testament to Resilience and Integrity

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have shown extraordinary resilience and tenacity in the face of severe obstacles, namely the enforced absence of their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and relentless hybridized attempts by the Nigerian government to weaken them. Despite these challenges, IPOB has continued to uphold a remarkable level of organization and coordination, demonstrating that its commitment to its mission is unshakeable and that its operational methodology and tactics are grounded on its founding principles and integrity.

The Nigerian government’s efforts to destabilize IPOB through various suppressive measures, including but not limited, the arrest of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, have been relentless. These actions are part of a broader strategy to dislodge and dismantle the movement. However, rather than succumbing to these pressures, IPOB has navigated these challenges with remarkable adeptness, maintaining a high level of professionalism in its global operations.

One of the most notable aspects of IPOB’s operations is its commitment to a crime-free and non-violent approach. Throughout its activities, IPOB has consistently advocated for peaceful and lawful means of pursuing its objectives. This commitment to non-violence is reflected in the movement's operational conduct and its strategic choices. IPOB has focused on peaceful advocacy and diplomatic efforts rather than resorting to violent confrontations, which sets it apart in a landscape often marked by strife and conflict.

The professionalism of IPOB is evident in its well-structured leadership and governance. Despite the absence of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the movement has continued to function effectively through a decentralized leadership model. Regional leaders and representatives have played pivotal roles in maintaining organizational coherence and advancing IPOB’s global yet collective objectives. This structured approach ensures that the movement remains focused and operationally sound, even in challenging circumstances.

Strategic communication is another area where IPOB has excelled. The movement has skillfully utilized various communication platforms to engage with its supporters and manage its public image and reputation. By maintaining a consistent and measured narrative, IPOB has effectively countered attempts to discredit it. This strategic approach not only keeps the global audience informed but also helps in managing perceptions, perspectives and reinforcing IPOB’s commitment to its cause.

The effective use and capitalisation technology has further bolstered IPOB’s organizational capabilities. Digital platforms have become essential tools for coordination, fundraising, and advocacy. Though attempt to infiltrate and sabotage this advantage by the enemy through agent provocateurs and state sponsored trojan horses were/are fiercely pursued. Yet, IPOB’s adeptness at leveraging these tools has enabled it to sustain its global presence and mobilize support effectively. This technological proficiency underscores the movement’s forward-thinking approach and its ability to adapt to contemporary challenges.

IPOB’s global outreach is also a testament to its professionalism. The movement has established a strong international presence through well-organized chapters and a dedicated global diaspora. These chapters are instrumental in advocating for IPOB’s cause for Biafra restoration via an internationally supervised referendum or plebiscite. Thus, engaging with the international community, and fostering solidarity from state actors across the globe. The ability to mobilize and coordinate a global network of supporters, and diplomatic advocates reflects IPOB’s strategic planning and organizational strength.

In the realm of legal and human rights advocacy, IPOB has maintained its commitment to lawful and constructive approaches. The movement’s engagement with international human rights organizations and its efforts to seek legal redress highlight its dedication to achieving its objectives through legitimate means. This approach not only reinforces IPOB’s credibility but also enhances its standing on the global stage.

The Nigerian government’s attempts to suppress IPOB have, paradoxically, highlighted the movement’s resilience and the effectiveness of its strategic approach. Far from weakening IPOB, these efforts have galvanized support and drawn attention to the movement’s cause. The increased solidarity from within Nigeria and the international community underscores the strength and determination of IPOB’s advocacy.

As IPOB moves forward, its continued emphasis on legitimacy by international standards, non-violence, and strategic communication will be crucial in navigating future challenges. The absence of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the ongoing pressures from the Nigerian government are significant obstacles, but IPOB’s commitment to its principles and its organizational integrity provide a solid foundation for future success.

Despite facing significant challenges, including the absence of its leader and provocative, aggressive government high handedness, IPOB has maintained an impressive standard of professionalism and sophistication. The movement’s dedication to non-violence, its structured leadership, strategic communication, effective use of technology, and global outreach are all indicators of its resilience and commitment. IPOB’s ability to navigate these challenges while upholding its principles is a testament to its enduring strength and determination. As IPOB continues its journey and course to self determination sustaining its integrity and reputation will remain central to its efforts in achieving its objectives and advancing its cause on the global stage.

Man Of The Year: Nnamdi Kanu, A Phenomenal Extraordinary Personality, Nominated By A Popular Vote

Man Of The Year: Nnamdi Kanu, A Phenomenal Extraordinary Personality, Nominated By A Popular Vote

December 25, 2023 | The Biafran Times

In the history and study of modern and ancient sociopolitical movements around the world, certain figures emerge as rare gems and catalysts for change, championing the holistic cause and aspirations of their people, this includes even when a proportionate number of the people does not consciously appreciate the ups and downs surrounding the task, the challenges that the struggle portends, and the immense sacrifices required to achieve the desired goal.

One such individual who has carved a niche for himself in the annals and books of modern history is Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra movement and the crowned prince of Afara Ukwu Ibeku - his clan traditional rulership mantle. Widely regarded as a standard-bearer which naturally endowed him the Igbo highly reserved and revered title of "Ohamadike 1 of Biafra" - a man of valor, and the epitome of exceptional leadership (Onyendu) – a leader who leads from the front, and bares a firsthand experience of the enemy's attacks and belligerent overtures.

Kanu's journey in life as a freedom fighter, and Self-determination activist is both fascinating and also immersed in complexities.
He undoubtedly, deserves the honor of the "Man of the Year" title being nominated, for his exceptional leadership and never-say-die activism. His impact on the voices yearning for emancipation in Nigeria today, cannot be overstated nor overemphasized.

Nnamdi Kanu's evolution into a freedom fighter can be traced back to his early life. Born to a family deeply rooted in the Igbo culture, Kanu's sense of identity and belonging became pivotal in shaping his convictions. His journey for Biafra self-determination commenced with the revamping of the defunct Radio Biafra, a media platform that would later become central, and very instrumental in disseminating his message of freedom to his people, and global community.

Kanu's advocacy for the independence of Biafra is characterized by his steadfast commitment to the cause. His unwavering belief in the right to self-determination for the people of Eastern Nigeria has positioned him as a standard-bearer for the contemporary Biafran independence movement. Through his speeches and time-tested pronouncements, Kanu aroused a vision and consciousness that resonates with those who sincerely sought freedom and liberty from systemic oppression.

At the heart of Kanu's influence and activism lies his extraordinary leadership style. He combines charisma with a great deal of understanding of the ills confronting his people. His ability to objectively articulate issues at hand, and propose durable, painstaking solutions has garnered him a dedicated followership of global outreach. His leadership transcends the conventional, as it navigates through complexities of politics with pragmatic diplomacy and finesse.

While the term "freedom fighting" often depicts the images of conflicts and physical confrontations, Nnamdi Kanu distinguishes himself as a man of peace. His calls for a peaceful and diplomatic resolution to the Biafran question - through a United Nations supervised referendum - underscore a commitment to avoiding unnecessary bloodshed. This makes him outstanding from those who initially from the onset embraced and adopted the radical approach against oppression and occupation, even without giving a benefit of doubt.

Kanu's impact has not gone unnoticed on the global stage. His activism over the years has earned him a definite relationship platform with certain, respected world leaders and institutions, reflecting the acknowledgment of his efforts in championing the cause of the Biafran people jealously yet without cynicism. This honor is not merely a personal accolade but a recognition of the broader movement he represents and the aspirations of those who rally behind, and around him.

However, the path to freedom and emancipation is fraught with challenges and confrontations. Yet, Kanu's pragmatic approach of obliging the Nigeria judiciary system irrespective of the high-handedness of the Nigerian authorities, remains indispensable.

Moreover, the nomination of Kanu as the best freedom fighter of 2023 through a popular opinion poll conducted on the X social network platform, buttresses the fact about the viral support and admiration he has earned from a disproportionate members of the society, as a result of his long sufferings and consistency, even under immense physical and psychological torture behind the solitary confinement walls of the Nigerian secret police (DSS), cell for over two years.

The acknowledgment from the public reflects the resonance of his message, and how deep it has sunk into the minds of those who believes and concurs with it. Kanu's ability to mobilize public opinion and rally support speaks volumes about his influence and the indispensability of his person in the affairs of the people of Eastern Nigeria especially as it pertains the socioeconomic and political aspect of life. It can be safe to say, that all of which revolves around him, as the people has immense trust in him, thus invariably trusts his judgement as uncompromising and unbetraying.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu stands as a phenomenal and extraordinary freedom fighter whose impact so far, reverberates beyond the confines of the Nigerian landscape. His journey decorated by his commitment to peace, his unfettered resolve for true independence as well as his unique leadership style, paints a portrait of a man deeply connected to his roots and the aspirations of his people.

While controversies from certain quarters about him may surely exist, however his recognition as the Man of the Year - not only through the online poll, but also on the ground worldwide -  reflects the acknowledgment of his significant role in shaping the discourse on self-determination as far the history of Nigeria is concerned. Whether one views him as a hero or a controversial figure, Nnamdi Kanu remains, an undeniable enigma in history of freedom fighting of the 21st Century.

Orji Uzor Kalu gets 12 years imprisonment for fraud

December 5, 2019   |   The Biafra Times

By Joseph Onyekwere

The federal high court in Lagos has sentenced the former governor of Abia State Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to 12 years imprisonment after being found guilty on all the 39-count charges brought against him.

He was convicted of N7.65billion fraud perpetuated when he was Abia State governor between 1999 and 2007.

Kalu was convicted alongside his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited and his former Abia State director of finance, Ude Udeogu.

The court also ordered forfeiture of all assets of his company to the federal government.

Justice Mohammed Idris, who delivered the sentence, had earlier declared him guilty of the charge in the case that had been on for 12 years.

In an amended 39-counts-charge, they were accused by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of conspiring and diverting over N7 billion from the coffers of the state.

In one of the counts, the EFCC alleged that Kalu “did procure Slok Nigeria Limited – a company solely owned by you and members of your family – to retain in its account, domiciled with the then Inland Bank Plc, Apapa branch, Lagos, an aggregate sum of N7,197,871,208.7 on your behalf.”

The prosecution claimed that the N7.1 billion “formed part of the funds illegally derived from the treasury of the Abia State Government and which was converted into several bank drafts before they were paid into the said company’s account.”

The prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, said the ex-governor violated Section 17(c) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2004, and was liable to be punished under Section 16 of the same Act.

Apart from the N7.1bn, which he was accused of laundering, the ex-governor and the other defendants were also accused of receiving a total of N460 million allegedly stolen from the Abia State Government treasury between July and December 2002.

The prosecutor said they breached Section 427 of the Criminal Code Act, Cap 77, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990.

The defendants had pleaded not guilty to all counts.

During the trial, the prosecution called 19 witnesses while the defendants testified by themselves.

BRIEF STATEMENT ON THE APPEARANCE OF MY CLIENT (NNAMDI KANU) IN JERUSALEM YESTERDAY

BIAFRA TIMES | 20TH OCTOBER 2018

I woke up yesterday to scintillating news making round the social and online media to the effect that  my client (Nnamdi Kanu) was sighted in Jerusalem during  a prayer session.

Initially, I wanted to disbelieve it but for the source,  struggling at the same time to come to reality that God has kept to His Promises after the murderous invasion of his home on the 14th day of September 2017,  by rampaging  Nigerian Soldiers, that saw the horrific blood carnage witnessed in his home on this black day.

But the God of Isaac, Abraham and Jacob has put enemies to shame, by the development of yesterday.

I cannot forget in a haste the anxiety that had enveloped me for this past 13 months .The anxiety over the  uncertainty of his safety after my last contact with him on the 14th day of September 2017. A day I can never forget for the rest of my life.

On the face of this cheerful news staring on my face, I immediately intensified effort to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the video clip.

Only, this morning, I received a direct confirmation from my client, hearing once from him after 13months in captivity.

I  am very delighted therefore,  to use this singular opportunity to announce to the world that my client is the very person seen in the pictures /video. That i can confirm authoritatively.

Furthermore, the shocking tale of how he made it alive once again will be made public in his scheduled world press broadcast  to be beamed live  within the next 24 hours.

The general public and indeed the world is  advised to keep a date with this broadcast.

The world will now hear from the horses mouth,  the gory accounts of what happened in my client's home on the 14th day of September 2017, only tommorow.

Thank you all for your prayers which had sustained him throughout the period of 13 months in captivity.

To His most Mighty  name shall all the glory be ascribed unto.

It's not yet over for the Nigerian Soldiers, because they are still under a compelling duty to offer explanation to the court why they moved their Armoured Perssonnel Carriers (APC) into the home of my client on the 14th day of september 2017 and the genocidal massacre of over 50 (fifty)members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in my client's home.

Thank you all.

Biafra: IPOB Evangelical Team storms Enugu community for inauguration

•Villagers elated, welcomes IPOB officials
•Beware of Fulani herders parading in military uniform— Inaugural coordinator warns

By Chukwuemeka Chimerue, Chief Editor, The Biafra Times

July 23, 2018

ENUGU— The Evangelical Team of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in Enugu province yesterday, brought the message for the restoration of the sovereign state of Biafra as they inaugurated another family in Agungwu village, Ugwuoba, in Oji River Local Government Area, Enugu West Senatorial District.

The team led by the State Mobilizer, Mr Chikwe Agwu was warmly welcomed by the villagers who could not hide their excitement over the inauguration of an IPOB family unit in their locality.

Mr Agwu, while addressing the villagers, said the purpose of their visit is to ensure that no clan or community in the state is left behind as the call for referendum is gathering momentum.

He explained that it behooves on the people of the community to spread the message of Biafra to the entire clans in Ugwuoba community, informing them of the need to embrace freedom through the instrument of referendum as the only panacea to realizing Biafra’s independence.

Mrs Ifeanyinwa Udeh, the Evangelical Women leader in her address stressed on the need for active participation of women and youths in the struggle.

According to her, “Biafraland is richly-blessed beyond bounds by God Almighty and there’s no doubt that its citizens will hugely maximise its potentials for the benwfit of all wven in the absence of crude oil and other mineral resources.

“Our human resources and capacity surpassed all that natural resources can even offer to us. That is why it is very important that youths and women in this community have to rise up and take their destinies in their hands by joining IPOB to demand for their freedom and that of their entire generations yet unborn. This cannot be over-emphasized.”

Meanwhile, the inaugural coordinator of the new family, Mr Ezeanyim Shadrack has warned the villagers against possible attack by Fulani herdsmen settling in the area whom he said has been parading on military outfit.

The Biafra war veteran who vowed to ensure that IPOB family unit spreads to the entire 17 clans in Ugwuoba community, expressed fear that if the herders are not being checkmated, they may end up attacking people of the community unexpectedly.

He, however, expressed satisfaction that with the coming of IPOB in the community, the people can easily send message across and unite in one accord to fight the intruders.

“I’ve been a member of IPOB in Ikeabiama zone, Nkpor, Anambra state before I decided to come down to my hometown, Ugwuoba, to ensure that my people receives the message because it pains me that over there in Anambra, the message has spread far and wide while my people down here in Ugwuoba continues to grope in the dark.

“Some cattle rearers on army uniform have surrounded the bushes in our villages. In the next village, they have been camping there in the bushes. There’s also a cattle market in this village where their leader resides. So, I want the villagers to take extreme caution in dealing with the security of these villages.

“They should complain to IPOB on issues like this and not rely on the government who does little or nothing. If they kill you, it will end up in burial and condolence visit and that’s all. It is only IPOB that can take your case to the international community and the world will hear you.

“The war between us and the Fulani herdsmen has not ended but we’re happy they have not killed anyone in this village. That’s why we are happy that IPOB officials came to this village today. Part of our challenges has been lack of information through media sources like radio concerning the news and message of Biafra,” he stated.

B-R-E-A-K-I-N-G NEWS: Another court date, another adjournment looming

February 20, 2018

Latest from Federal High Court Abuja with Justice Binta Nyako presiding......

Federal Government of Nigeria have succeeded in pressuring Senator Ebyinnaya Abaribe to ask for adjournment of the ongoing case of treasonable felony between Nnamdi Kanu and 3 others who have so far spent more time in prison than those convicted of similar offences.

DSS knows they has no choice but to release David Nwawuisi, Benjamin Madubugwu and Bright Chimezie Ishinwa do they decided to blackmail and intimidate Senator Abaribe into getting his lawyer to write to the court seeking yet another adjournment. This level of wickedness is unheard of anywhere in the world. Not minding that Justice Binta Nyako who is a Fulani woman,  Attorney General of the Federation Malami Fulani man, DSS Director General Fulani man, lead prosecutor Labaran Fulani man all have natural hatred towards Igbo people and Biafrans at large. Keeping David Nwawuisi and Benjamin Madubugwu in further detention when they have spent more time in jail than those convicted of similar offences is an indescribable evil.

DSS is under court order to release Bright Chimezie Ishinwa but they have steadfastly refused. He has been held in underground detention at DSS headquarters.

We still don't know if Senator Abaribe is working closely with John Nnia Nwodo whose job it is to keep to ensure that Igbo politicians don't ask questions regarding the plight of those illegally detained.

They are releasing Boko Haram suspects while they keep detaining Biafrans. Even when we want to go to court to clear our names, they use adjournment after adjournment to keep Biafrans in jail. We must say no to this!

BIAFRA: COURT CASE: NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT MUST PROVIDE NNAMDI KANU – BIAFRA WRITERS TALKS TOUGH

October 17, 2017

As we make headway to the Federal High Court, Abuja, Nigerian government MUST provide Nnamdi Kanu [leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra].

Bear in mind that on April 25, 2017, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was granted bail by the Court of competent jurisdiction.

The order was made by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja. Conversely, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's "frivolous" bail was breached as the Nigerian army raided his homestead (on September 14, 2017), and made away with him.

Following the dreadful foray into the home of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, (by the Nigerian army), we have not heard of his whereabouts. Hence, we are unsure whether or not he is alive. However, the Nigerian government has this question to answer: WHERE IS NNAMDI KANU?

Breaking News: NIGERIA ARMY FORCING BIAFRANS AT GUN POINT TO GET INJECTED WITH SUSPICIOUS SUBSTANCE

By Nwamgba Amah

October 11, 2017

OZUBULU -  Information reaching Biafra Writers news desk has it that the Nigeria army is forcing Biafrans in Ozubulu, Orifite, and Ihiala areas to get immunized.

Mazi Okeke Onwuegbu who called Biafra Writers newsroom narrated how Nigeria army went to a primary school near his home at Ugwuorie and asked school children to get immunized but the school authorities resisted them adding that they will need the parents/guardians permission before allowing them to carry on with their so-called immunization. That prompted the army to release some warning gunshots insisting that the school must be immunized. The said gunshots caused panic as school children began to run for their safety.

As at the time of filing this report, all schools in Ozubulu and its environs are closed.

In other countries, Military are only deployed to help run medical and other services only where there is a natural disaster and the state declared a state of emergency but why should this military aid be forced on our people as against their wish?

Biafra: Kanu’s Whereabouts; Man gives account of military invasion on Kanu’s residence

...Says they fired series of shot at his bedroom window, may have killed him and taken his body away.

By Chijindu Benjamin Ukah || For Biafra Writers

October 5, 2017

An eyewitness account who watched as events unfolded during the Nigerian army’s invasion at the home of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, in Afaraukwu, Umuahia, has given a firsthand information of what transpired during the sudden invasion.

The man who identified himself as Agwu Emmanuel, in this interview with Biafra Writers Correspondent, feared the IPOB leader must have been killed by the Army during the attack in his home.

It is pathetic that the ever-lying Nigerian army authorities thinks they can deceive the world into believing that they never invaded nor broke into the house of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Director of Radio Biafra and Biafra TV, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The following ensued after an interview with an eye witness:

Reporter: May we know your name sir?

My name is Agwu Emmanuel
We learnt that you are one the people who were at Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s house when Nigerian army invaded and broke into his house, can you share with us what happened on that day?

The incident started around 9am on 14th September when I and two of my friends were sent to the bank, on our way back, along the government house Umuahia, opposite Diamond Bank, we saw some Nigerian soldiers in a van, and sighting us they started shouting “heh! stop there, stop there”, we didn’t know they were talking to us so we kept going, immediately people started running and as we turned to look back, it was Nigerian soldiers jumping down from their van and at the same time cocking their guns facing us.

In a twinkle of an eye, they opened fire at us, instantly they shot dead one of my friends and push the other one down. From a distance I watched them carry two of my friends away in their van. How I escaped their rain of bullets is still a miracle to me.

Around 4pm that same day, I was resting in the palace and all of a sudden, I heard “they are coming, they are coming”. Before the next minute, I started hearing heavy gunshots. I ran outside the gate, lo and behold it was the Nigerian army. They started shooting from the junction after Flow FM radio station Umuahia, and continued shooting until they got to the gate of our leader Mazi Nnamdi kanu, they were shooting for about 1hr and 30minutes.

We tried to resist them from breaking into our leader’s house with stones, sticks and anything we could lay our hands on, but they brought all kinds of ammunition that I have never seen before, the type of ammunition I saw is the type that should be used for war. They were shooting live bullets and firing teargas at the same time, threw us hand grenade and when they saw that their bullets were not getting at us they started shooting us with the machine gun on their ferret and armoured tank, they also fired 32mm shelling at us. I have the pictures of some of the cup of the bullets they fired at us.

When they tried to open the gate of Nnamdi Kanu’s residence, it was difficult for them, they had to use their armoured car to push it open. They shot into some neighbours houses too.

They killed a lot of Biafrans on sight, male and female and left many wounded. I saw people’s brain busted with bullets, they were killing and carrying the dead bodies into their long truck, they carried more dead bodies when they left. They killed fowl and dog, broke into all the rooms including Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s room and destroyed many things. They stole some of our phones and destroyed the ones they could not take.

They went as far as tracing our wounded brothers and sisters at Federal Medical Center (FMC) Umuahia, to finish them up.

R: When all these are happening, were you armed?

No. If we were armed, none of them could have left alive, because we are Biafrans and we are born warriors. They know how far we resisted them with bare hands.

R: Was Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at home when the Nigerian army came?

Yes, he was at home. We were all there with him. His father and mother were there also.

R: Do you think he was killed by the rampaging soldiers?

Yes. If they didn’t, he would have spoken to Biafrans but we have not heard from him. I am afraid they may have killed him and carried his body because they fired a bullet at his bedroom window and that window is exactly at the position of his bedside. That is also an indication that they came with first-hand information from an insider.

This is the worst experience I have ever had in my life and it is only the grace of the most high Chukwu Okike Abiama that kept me alive to tell the story.

R: After all these experience, are you going to continue in your quest for Biafra freedom?

Yes, I am determined now more than ever, even if it means giving my life for Biafra to come, I will count it all joy. “I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees”, moreover, the blood shed by my brothers and sisters are pushing me to fight on and I will not retreat nor surrender.

IPOB: Biafra Writers Condemns Illegal Abduction Of Edo Unit Coordinator And His Brother

By Onoja Christian Obinna || For Biafra Writers

September 22, 2017

It has been established that fire cannot be used to quench fire. Similarly, employing brute force can never be used to destroy an ideology whose time is ripe. Understanding the root purpose of an action is only the key to granting its solution.

Recently, the Nigerian government has intensified efforts to quell the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, which is geared towards the restoration of the sovereign State of Biafra which has been in existence before the invasion of her territory by the British colonial agent Sir Frederick Lugard, leading to the unholy and forced amalgamation of Biafra with the Sokoto Caliphate of the North and Oduduwa Republic of the West, giving birth to a country named Nigeria as concocted by Lugard's girlfriend, Flora Shaw.

Having fought a bloody genocidal war from 1967-70 with the Nigerian military government, the quest to restore the nation of Biafra have once again reverberated and has saturated the world's atmosphere with a high intense of pressure on the Nigerian government to free the people of Biafran by simply conducting a peaceful, conventional referendum for them to freely determine their fate as requested by a frontline freedom fighting outfit, the IPOB. However, instead of the government of Nigeria to address the issue democratically, they choose to adopt the excessive use of force as if the country is under military rule.

This use of force have culminated to the premature death of several youths of IPOB of which the recent, is the invading and killing of scores of unarmed civilians within the ages of sixteen and above in the hometown of the leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in Umuahia and the looting of his house by the Nigerian Army.

As if the Nigerian government is not tired in committing these heinous crimes against humanity and the people of Biafra including the wanton gross violation of their human rights as enshrined in the United Nations Charter, they have once again resorted to the secret abduction of Biafran youths.

The latest being the illegal abduction of one Paul Nwaogba, an IPOB Unit Coordinator in Edo State, Nigeria, along with his younger brother Obinna who has never engaged in the activities of IPOB. Obinna was whisked away in the wee hours of today(the 21st of September, 2017) and was taken to Ogida Police station as they noticed that they were been traced by neighbours.

The incessant and unprovoked abduction of Biafran youths by Nigeria security forces have continued unabated in the whole of South-East and South-South of Nigeria and they must be compelled by the international communities at the ongoing United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to desist from such illicit acts and grant referendum to the people to determine their fate of nationhood.

The use of force is never a route to solving issues within a democratic setting as constantly used by the Nigerian government and as such, the Nigerian government is compelling IPOB to abandon it's adopted disposition of peaceful engagement to defending themselves against the brute force of the Nigerian government as they cannot keep losing their youths to the trigger-happy Nigerian soldiers. If this method or decision is approved, it would be drastic to the entire globe and the remnants of the present day Nigeria would be difficult to gather from the ground.

September 19, 2017

A very disturbing report reaching the newsroom of Biafra Writers from the commercial city of Aba in Abia State, details the despicable and horrifying wanton molestation and arrest of residents of the city, in search of IPOB civilians by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force under the tutelage and command of the Abia State Commissioner of Police, our correspondent revealed.

The newly-appointed Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Anthony Ogbizi, as was reliably gathered, this morning, dispatched his men to comb private houses of residents of Aba and arrest suspected IPOB civilians.

According to our correspondent, “the newly-appointed Abia State Commissioner of Police, sent his men to invade houses of people living in Aba and has arrested many people in the process.

“The Police apparently in search of IPOB brethren, arrested many people including those who denied being part of IPOB.

“The worst scenario is that they will arrest many people and throw them inside a cell that its capacity normally houses less than 5 people,  leading to suffocation.

“They(Police) are currently at Omuma road, Aba, still molesting and arresting innocent people.”

It was noted that these unprovoked and illegal arrests is coming days after well-meaning individuals and some public officials has advised men of the Nigerian army to down their tools and withdraw from the State following the extrajudicial killings and tension its activities has generated.

We are hereby putting the world and constituted authorities to notice, to caution and checkmate the illegal activities of the Abia State CP, before it degenerates to further crisis in the already troubled city.

Biafra: IPOB Hails Nigerian Lawmakers For Rejecting Restructuring, Says Referendum The Only Way Forward

Chukwuemeka Chimerue || Reporting for Biafra Writers

July 28, 2017

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has congratulated the Nigerian legislators, particularly those in the Senate for throwing out the bill seeking to restructure the country along true and fiscal federalism.

The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, July 26 rejected the proposal to amend the 1999 Constitution in other to devolve more powers to the states; a step which has been considered as a major set back to those campaigning for restructuring in the country.

However, IPOB through its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, said that restructuring Nigeria is an ill wind that will blow no one any good, maintaining that only referendum will salvage the country from its myriads of problem.

IPOB stated that through its voting against restructuring, the Senate had vindicated the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, adding that through referendum, the future of the people will be decided as it would also address the recurrent agitation for resource control in the country.

The statement read in full, “We members of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) and it's leadership worldwide under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu the prophet of our time wish to congratulate the honourable members of the Nigerian Senators for summoning the courage to vindicate our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB on the floor of Senate chamber through their rejection of restructuring saga in Nigeria.

“We are equally thanking them for voting down the controversial call for restructuring that cannot benefit anyone in Nigeria. We Biafrans and other sensible Nigerians can now believe that Northern Senators have demonstrated, through their rejection of restructuring, that IPOB remains the only legitimate voice that understand the plight of the masses and prepared to do something about it. Only a referendum can resolve the issue of Biafra not restructure. It remains the only way the masses can decide their future in Nigeria.

“As a result of the rejection of this restructuring issue on the floor of the Senate chamber, we IPOB now hope that all socio-cultural groups like PANDEF and Ohaneze Ndigbo to come to the inescapable recognition that only a referendum can determine our fate once and for all time and resolve the perennial issue of resource control.

“Nigeria is politically, socially and economically structured by Hausa Fulani oligarchs and cabals in the corridors of power supported by their collaborators British Government to cater for the interest of the very few political criminals and poorly educated few at the top who answer to the title of 'elite' with absolutely nothing to offer or show for it. They represent the worst form of mediocrity and arrested development.

“This total rejection of restructuring in Nigeria by honourable Nigeria Senators is a clear indication to all and sundry, mostly the PANDEF, Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo and so called leaders of thoughts and elders in Biafraland that Nigeria can never be one and cannot recognize them as part of Nigeria because most of our people called for Nigeria restructuring before now but Hausa Fulani and their collaborators rejected it.

“It is on record that our leaders, heroes and elders have been calling for this particular restructuring before and after Nigeria independence of which Mrs Margaret Ekpo was the first person who called for it, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe in 1945, Isaac Adaka Boro in 1963, Chukwemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in 1967 that is known today as (Aburi accord) which later led to the massacre and starvation of Biafran children, women in churches, hospitals, schools and market places in cold blood between 1966 and 1970 and lastly Ken Saro Wiwa in 1993 who campaigned vigorously, without a single gun shot, for the survival of his people. All these people are Biafrans or better put Eastern Nigerians who saw the decay in the Nigeria system and called for a peaceful settlement that will benefit everybody. But the born to rule mentality of the core North rejected it with impunity. Today they demonstrated it again on the floor of the Senate.”

Biafra: "Being Tortured Has Been The Best Experience of My Life" - Ejike Ofoegbu Narrates His Ordeal

July 6, 2017

I confronted my fears and I was glad I did. Being tortured has been the best experience of my life in this struggle for the restoration of Biafra. Torture is like running a marathon. It taught me how committed I have become in this struggle for justice; and it has fortified me in some ways, because you learn how much capacity you have in this body to resist your intimidation.

When I was arrested on July 2, 2017, I thought of running. I didn't know if they would kill me, again I thought: if I run, the people around me could be hurt. So I decided not to run, but face the whole thing, my fear, my sacrifice, an unknown fate.

At the spot, I was handcuffed by the Nigerian soldiers and was forcefully pushed into a Ford 'pickup' patrol vehicle. I was pressed down the vehicle so nobody could see me. They drove all around so I wouldn’t be able to tell where we were going.

Finally, we came to a place where I was carelessly rolled down the vehicle; with my adrenaline at its peak, I was not feeling much of the pain. I was dragged to a dark room, locked with a big iron door. The next I heard was "what you got for me today?" Then the soldier that dragged me in replied, "oh, I’ve got a good fish for you."

In the smelling cell, I met a Biafran who cried to me about the torture they are receiving from the Nigerian soldiers since their unreported abduction. He said, "sometimes they withhold food and water and I will starve for about 3 days. I was given water once, a little tiny bit a day. They abuse me physically, slap my face, hit it so hard, and this stuff inside bleeds really easily, so there was blood, but there’s no mark.

"Another technique they use is the capucha, or hood. In some ways, it’s like waterboarding. But it’s not water here — a plastic bag with flour inside. And sometimes the powder gets inside you, and it doesn’t let you breathe right." Sometimes, a guy will hold your head backwards and someone will be hitting your face, asking you questions: Where are your leaders? Where are your leaders?

"There was one moment that I almost died”he lamented. "I fainted and was handcuffed and stretched out. The soldiers believed I was almost dead and called in a higher officer. I heard their conversation, and they were worried because they had already agreed that they had me in their camp (thinking I was willing at the point to release information to them)."

According to him, after a Biafran is arrested, the government has 3 days "to agree they have you in their custody. For those first 3 days, they will threaten that you could be killed if they deny having you in their custody.

"Then, for the first 15 days of official custody, the hidden status quo allowed the soldiers to incarcerate Biafran agitators without considering the legal implications of it; tortured, then transferred to a regular prison.

"They would hit you to break your wrist. Lots of hits. They had learned where to hit you so that it hurts so much but will not leave a mark. They tie you up in painful positions and till you would almost lose your senses.

"Another tactic was to leave you alone for a few days, so you start thinking that they have forgotten about you. Afterwards, they may keep you in the company of people you don’t know and who may be their informants. Most times, those informants talk nicely about Biafra and claim to be part of the struggle.

"There are psychologists behind this stuff who can read how you are responding to the torture that they are applying. They mix physical torture with psychological and physiological abuse. Our people have to be careful" he said.

After m several hours at the detention centre, they found nothing to incriminate me. I was lying down from that morning till 7:30pm at night, they requested for the muffler and other Biafran materials I had with me. They inquired about the distributor of those customized Biafran materials, and I replied them that I made them myself. They checked my phone and compromised my social media accounts.

However, I consider it a privilege to have received a slap for the sake of Biafra; to be punished and to be humiliated for what I strongly believe in. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has shown us that no sacrifice is considered too much for freedom and I came out of the hands of the Nigerian soldiers more determined and resolute to be a part of this Biafra restoration project.

BIAFRA: REASONS WHY WE MUST BOYCOTT EVERY NIGERIAN ELECTION IN BIAFRA LAND

JUNE 30, 2017

Since the Supreme leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra Mazi Nnamdi Kanu (the great one) declared that there will be no election in Anambra State come November 18th, 2017 and other parts of Biafra land, until a date is given for Biafra referendum to be conducted, some people have come openly to condemn him, while some are asking what positive impact will boycotting election make towards the restoration of the nation of Biafra.

It is clear that most Nigerians and some people in Biafra land including some of the so-called Igbo leaders do not have the mental capacity to understand how freedom fighting in the direction of self-determination works. Boycotting election is "civil disobedience" which is one of the tools of fighting for self-determination, backed by international law.

Indigenous people seeking for self-determination can apply any form of civil disobedience to drive their message to the international community. Only those who are benefiting from the enterprise called Nigeria will want to continue voting even when they know that their vote does not count, all they want is let there just be a voting activities? This is lunacy.

The Indigenous people of Biafra IPOB will boycott every Nigerian election in Biafra land because we are not Nigerians and we are not treated as one. We are Biafrans and as a result, we will not take part in any electioneering process of the Nigerian state in our land.

We must boycott every election in Biafra land because we are being subjugated, marginalized, and deprived of what rightfully belongs to us politically and otherwise. We have been mapped out for total extermination by the controllers of the Nigerian state and their slave masters.

They sent their foot soldiers in the form of herdsmen who on daily basis invade our villages with AK47 and other weapons, kill our people, rape our women, destroy our farms and burn down our buildings, yet the people we have voted for have not made any effort to check the excesses of these terrorists and protect those who voted them into power, instead they are protecting the terrorists and even making provision for grazing lands for them in our land.

The Igbo political jobbers and their likes touting about in Abuja, must understand that power belongs to the masses, not few political and selfish leaders who cannot command respect in their local communities. They are insisting on election in Biafra land because of their selfish interest. They prefer to remain slaves and eat from the crumbs that fall off from the dinning of their slave masters.

May Chukwu Okike Abiama (God) forbid that we shall take part in any electioneering process of the contraption called Nigeria in Biafraland. There shall be no election in Biafra land until a date for referendum is given to us.
