In any sane country on this planet earth, soldiers are loved either by the political class, the common people or both. The love of the common people for the soldiers originates from how genuinely and uncompromisingly the soldiers carry out their duties. The love of the political class emanates from how the soldiers obey their orders even if the political class is wrong or their decisions are against the people's opinion. Whichever way, there is a reward.
The reward of the political class for the soldiers is appointment into key political positions and participation in the sharing of the government goodies. This way, even the newly recruited soldier will be made to taste the reward of serving the political class and not the masses.
The reward of the common people for the soldiers is that the salary of the soldiers will be increased as demanded by the masses and the soldiers will be treated good and respected. In this regard the political class is more afraid of the soldiers because they are on the side of the people.
In Nigeria, observations have shown that the most stupid set of people are the soldiers. They are the most suffering people in Nigeria.
In their stupidity Nigerian soldiers will stand under the sun for the whole day doing the bidding of one corrupt potbellied politician. That this same politician syphon the public fund doesn’t mean a thing to them. Their stupidity is so vast that their primary concern is what they and their family will eat for the day. I call them the workers for today not for tomorrow.
They have the worst fate in Nigeria because while the commoners resent them for compromising their duties to serve the political class, the political class itself readily sacrifices them for inordinate ambitions. Yeah, I make this assertion because even the political class whom they serve now lay ambush against them through the instrumentality of terrorist groups. Of course the public is now in the know that politicians sponsor terrorists in Nigeria, therefore my assertions are not unfounded.
These soldiers are so dumb that even as they know that they receive peanut as salary and face the highest level of politically motivated dangers, they still kill the masses who rise up to protest the injustices in the land. Sad!
