New Marginal Oilfields’ Bids, Niger Delta on Knee Begging Hausa/Fulani for a Slot

In the bidding for the 57 marginal oilfields in the Niger Delta, the people of Niger Delta have once again been sidelined. Ninety-nine per cent of the oilfields have been ceded to the northerners while the people that own the oil are left with nothing.
The South-south region of Nigeria has over the years lamented the injustice meted on them by the government. The people have protested in many ways but their efforts to salvage themselves from the mess they are in have yielded nothing, and instead, have earned them the criminal name “militants.”
Things have gone so bad for the people of Niger-Delta that the revered PANDEF has adopted the culture of begging to get the federal government to look their way. Many other groups and notable figures in the area have also joined the begging party. Rather than stand up for their right, they resort to begging, and sadly, all their pleas fall on deaf ears.
