IPOB: Biafrans, Remember The Biafran Law Of No Retreat, No Surrender

By Eluwa Chidiebere || For Biafra Writers

November 8, 2017

This time, a new age has begun. An age of freedom, an age that shall rescue us from slavery, tyranny and marginalisation. At the end, all we shall know is that this generation gave their last breath to defend thier land. Go tell the world that here, by the Biafran law ‘‘No retreat No surrender’’ we lie. I am not here to represent Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), his actions speak louder than my words. I am here to remind Biafrans why we fight. We fight for justice and honour; we fight against slavery, tyranny and marginalisation. Above all, we fight for the preservation of liberty. On the Biafran law we shall stand, fight and die.

Many years ago, I pondered on the rigorous freedom talk of my general (Gen. Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu). But time has proven him wise. Today, the long cry of General Ojukwu is felt by all. A few of us who managed to sneak themselves into Nigerian politics now knows the importance of General Ojukwu’s steady lamentation for freedom. It’s a pity that they have accepted the slavery and have left their people to continue suffering since they are benefiting from their people’s slavery and marginalisation. These politicians now veil their different atrocities as good actions in order to deceive the gullible ones. They are the saboteurs, and to them we say may they never live forever.

And so, Ojukwu and my brothers died. They suffered and laid down their lives not just for the Igbo-speaking Biafrans but for all Biafran people and the promise this great nation holds. They never wished tribute or songs, monuments or poems of war and valour. Their wish was simple: Remember us. Remember why we died. They only needed their story to be passed to the next Biafran generation, for them to know what happened.

How the world ganged up against them and annihilated them. How they tried to preserve and protect the next generation from extinction. Remember us, which were their words.

As Philip Brooks would say ‘‘No man has come to true greatness who has not felt that his life belongs to his race and that which God gives to him, he gives him for mankind’’. We understand your sacrifices and if we are to die, let us die with brave souls like you people and not with weak souls like the saboteurs. To stand against the world for three good years in the Biafra-Nigeria war wasn’t an easy task. Indeed, it is only a race that is of Israeli origin like you can replicate that. Of course, Biafrans through the Biafra-Nigeria war have justified God’s promise to the people of Israel in the Holy Bible (Joshua 23:9-13) which says, ‘‘Anyone of you can make a thousand men run away because the Lord your God is fighting for you as he promised’’.

Today, this present generation is made stronger by your (our veterans) actions and your actions have given rise to a great lion in the person of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. In the eyes of Nigeria, I see great fear, knowing fully well what a few Biafran soldiers with Gen. Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu did to them. This day, with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the present Moses of this unique generation, we rescue ourselves from mysteries and tyranny. And we have seen our future brighter than anything we can imagine. The old man usually says that we Biafrans descended directly from heaven. Rise up oh Biafrans now that victory is in sight. Rise up and obey God’s sent Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and it shall be well with all of us. Remember Biafrans, no retreat no surrender and that is the Biafran law.
