The national chairman of the United Progressive Party, UPP, has described as “reckless”, the statement credited to the Federal government of Nigeria that some politicians were financing the activities of the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
The Minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed had on Sunday, accused politically disgruntled treasury looters who are out to sabotage the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government of sponsoring IPOB.
Mohammed said those disgruntled looters were using IPOB to sabotage the current government under the guise of fighting for the rights of people of the South-East.

Reacting, however, the ex-presidential candidate said it was reckless on the side of the government to make such an unhealthy utterance against political players in Nigeria.
Similarly, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has debunked the allegation by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State that he was sponsoring IPOB.
The Publicity Secretary of the party(APC) in the State, Taiwo Olatunbosun, also added that the Nigerian army was performing its constitutional role of preserving the unity of Nigeria and bringing all "secessionists" and their backers to justice.
However, in his reaction, Fayose described the allegation as baseless, saying that his support of the movement does not translate into funding of IPOB.
