Biafra: Kanu's Re-arrest, A Devastating Red Line Drawn For Nigeria

Prior to the hot wind of events that have taken up the media space as the call for the re-arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, deepens, it is wise to understand that in the animal kingdom, the lion and the dog does not thread on the same path. Before the lion takes up a path for its journey, it roars aloud to alert its prey of its presence because any stubborn animal that crosses its path cannot be spared.

On this backdrop, the Indigenous People of Biafra worldwide under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu have unequivocally condemned the plot and the move by the Federal government of Nigeria to re-arrest their leader as requested by the Yerima Shettima-led Arewa Youths group, during his court appearance on the 17th of October 2017.

IPOB's peaceful approach to the restoration of Biafra since its inception in 2012 have been inarguably next to none in the whole world since the history of freedom fighting and can be satisfactorily proven by all and sundry and such should never be taken as an act of cowardice or weakness but a coordinated display of our level of civility and our ability to control our temperament in the face of unwanted provocation.

Therefore, having chosen to thread on the path of peace by demanding for referendum, the international bodies that are saddled with the responsibility to abrogate Nigeria and give way to the yearnings of the Indigenous People of Biafra to restore their dream nation, should as a matter of urgency compel the present government of Nigeria to set aside a date for referendum so that the people will determine whether they still wish to remain in Nigeria or otherwise.

Being a signatory to the UN charter to the rights of the indigenous people, Nigeria is by all means, under mandate to give a voice to the people of Biafra by exercising the right to that charter other than being sectional and adamant in their approach to the call for referendum of which have been the cries of the Biafran people which they have ironically termed "treason" in order to quench the collective will of the indigenous people and it is highly unacceptable by IPOB.

Nigerian government for sectionalism on its own is an act of treason which Nigeria government is highly guilty of and the Arewa Youths under the leadership of Yerima Shettima have publicly committed treason following the quit notice issued to the Easterners of the present day Nigeria termed "Kaduna Declaration", yet the government of Nigeria have not taken any step to arrest or caution him but rather have shielded him from facing the wrath of the law thereby backing such divisive and atrocious declaration against a particular set of people but decided to tighten their robes to ensuring that Nnamdi Kanu is re-arrested because they believed that he is coming from a rejected and hated tribe of people.

It is commonly said in Igbo adage that "it is only when a mad person is killed that you will know that he has people and relatives". Therefore, the youths of Biafra under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is using this medium to make it clear that re-arresting Nnamdi Kanu has been marked as the RED LINE for the Nigerian government and they should desist from such thought unless it is their ernest desire to see the Lugardian empire called Nigeria, to collapse in a twinkle of an eye because Nnamdi Kanu have not in any form or means committed treason since the pursuit of his quest for the restoration of the Biafra nation but Shettima has done so in his anti-Igbo declaration.

Finally, the federal government of Nigeria should know that IPOB under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu have sworn to restore Biafra and recover her from the grips of the British government and their northern collaborators for the Biafrans unborn and for those who lost their precious lives at the brutality of the Nigerian combined military forces in their different rallies, protests, therefore no threat of any sort can change our resolve to restore Biafra as the deads have requested.
