BIAFRA: ALLEGED COUP, NIGERIAN ARMY AND THE NORTH'S POLITICAL ARROGANCE

On May 16, 2017, a trepidation went viral. A miasma that kept everybody awake. Our eyes got fat in fear, and ears widened to know the aftermath of the investigations by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai over the alleged coup by the so called junior officers in the army. That was the malodorous news that fumed the atmosphere that faithful morning. The news had it that a container fully loaded with sophisticated pistols was captured by the military. Everybody was holding their horses to know those behind the coup in order to keelhaul them as obtainable in the Constitution. But surprisingly, it is was rather regrettable to learn that everything was just 'swept under the carpet' and the concerned bodies acted as if nothing cropped up; it all ended in the Nigerian way.

But before the 'hurricane', I want to assert here that the gargantuan injuries that will ensue for not giving this matter the necessary attention needed cannot be contained in the nearest future. Before then, let us reason on the hidden agenda of that coup and those responsible for it -because like the greatest historian of our time, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, would always say that“the difference between a black man and a white man is the ability to reason and to comprehend." Therefore, I beg to be rational in this matter.

To begin with, if there should be a coup in any form in Nigeria, it must be from one of the three tribes that constitute the country. In the present situation, it is clear that Biafrans are nowhere to be found in the corridors of power in Nigeria. It is only the Fulanis and the Yorubas that are deeply rooted in the Nigerian political system owing to the civil war aftermath that kept Biafrans out of the corridors of power since 1966.
As history is about to repeat itself, the president is incapacitated and has been kept out of the public due to his deteriorating health. Professor Yemi Osibanjo's imminent take-over as the president of Nigeria has been confronted with several unreported but failed coups to destabilize the government and this has all been perpetrated by the Arewas.

The Chief of Army Staff, General Buratai, is not naive of these dumb moves and political arrogance of the North; and it will not be an exaggeration to crown him the architect of those failed coups. If not, it might also be that they concocted that coup news to cover up for their upcoming evil intention which I call ‘The Avalanche'.

Let me bring it to your mind that on 18th May 2017, two days after that incidence, a substantial number of renowned northern youths were preaching hate and calling on northern youths to fuse against the southwestern part of the country where the vice president hails from. Some even took to the media to express themselves. According to The Nation Newspaper on 19th May 2017 top of the pile was Aliyu Zaharaddeen who said, “Northerners must be very ready from now onward, the battle line has been drawn”. He further called upon the north to unite against the south and dominate the south. Then finally, he asked for the silencing of Femi Fani Kayode whom he sees as a voice criticizing Muhammadu Buhari.

Recently, the same northern youths in a ferocious manner, have ordered Biafrans to vacate their land before 1st October 2017 or face violent evacuation.
For all I know, before there will be a ferocious mobocracy in any part of the world, the masses are always equipped with ammunitions. So, for a recognized civilian like Aliyu Zaharaddeen to say that the battle line has been drawn, calling for the silencing of voices like Femi Fani Kayode and also, with the quit notice issued to Biafrans, the North must have been heavily armed.

So, who armed them? We recall that on several occasions, containers of ammunitions have been recovered by the Nigerian army but today, they have not been accounted for. These and other related insights are issues that are supposed to be on the lips of every right thinking being now.
Sincerely speaking, Buratai is an amateur; he was very unprofessional in handling that issue. The manner at which he released the news abruptly and openly without fishing the perpetrators out raises a question mark on how he deals with sensitive issues. In other civilized countries, before such news is disclosed to the public, the authority must have been certain of their ability to get to the root of it. It is damaging to let the people know about such matters without unveiling the perpetrators. That is to say that the culprits are still walking with their two legs and might be planning for the worse.

Still, on handling sensitive matters, let us refer to how Buratai handled the Biafra protesters as a way of buttressing his unprofessional instincts. As an Awolowo incarnate, the father of tribal politics and nepotism, he was gripped by hatred for the Biafrans and could not stomach the issue of unarmed youths demonstrating with the Biafran flag. He radically ordered for their annihilation. An occasion he regretted, denied and still trying hard to convince Amnesty International otherwise.

Now is time for Buratai to answer to his crimes and face the wrath of the law. To make the world a better place, characters like Tukur Buratai must not get away with such war crimes.

There is no comparison between a nation like Biafra that has fetched the world with the likes of Philip Emegwali, David Gittens Ikenga, Oprah Winfrey, Olaudah Equiano, etc. and a country like Nigeria that has gifted the world with fantastic corruption and modified terrorism through her products -Boko Haram and Fulani Herdsmen.
Indeed, Biafra will restore the pride of Africa and the Black race.

  1. The Hausa-Fulani and Yoruba are not going to let Biafra go without a fight because of crude oil in our land. If this crude oil had been in the North or SW, Nigeria would’ve been history. We must seek the support and full backing of UN and global powers. Fulani are warmongering jihadist sect. And so brethren, we must be prepared to defend ourselves. In 1967, Odumegwu Ojukwu was taken by surprise and was not quite prepared when genocidist Gowon unleased war upon Biafra. Same thing may happen here unless UN and international community fully support the division of Nigeria. At least, we must be ready to defend ourselves from the parasitic North and SW traitors.
