Misinterpretation Of The Biafran Spirit And The Folly Of Her Enemies

If there is an age long voice that has refused to stop crying for salvaging and refuge, it is the Biafran spirit. Amidst all forms of subjugation and inhuman cruelty of her haters, the Biafran spirit has proven and still remains one of the voices that have refused to be suppressed and compressed into quintessential inaudibility.
Biafran people have seen different forms of man’s inhumanity to man, yet they stand firm, undeterred in their quest for their right to existence. The folly of it all is that her haters and oppressors keep living in the illusion of “Crushing Biafra” when all their approaches and strategies for over half a century had only proved to be efforts in futility. Now Biafra's voice resuscitates back to her undefeated demand.

From the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade era to the Biafran genocide (1967-1970), Biafrans had faced different forms of extermination plots from her haters. Britain on her own, after stealing the able-bodied men and women of Biafran extraction during the Triangular Trade went ahead to influence cartographers to delete Biafra from the world map. Even our progenitors’ names and our town’s names were changed to ensure a complete erasure of the Biafran identity and consciousness in us.
For a while, the damages were sustained. But as time progressed, our fearless fathers and mothers proved to the British that they are “fearless before their enemies and oppressors”. Many of them while on the slave ship chose to jump overboard than to be called captured slaves. Those who got to the “new world” decided to subdue their slave masters in the plantation field. Those who were kept as “domestic slaves” overwhelmed their European slave masters. Even our mothers used their beauties to entice the white oppressors and got them finished.

When it was obvious to the slave traders that they have lost and revolt is high, they abandoned the evil trade for good. That is who our fathers and mothers were! Men and women of hospitality, formidability, and resolve when it comes to saying NO to oppression.
After many years, the British relaunched her oppression on the Biafrans left in Biafraland. From trade agreement to positioning themselves for total colonization of the people. In 1895, Biafrans in Akassa made their positions known by engaging the British in a war when their calmness was misinterpreted to be cowardice. The war left many Britons dead and today, it is one of the gory experiences of the British.
In 1929, when the British colonialists misinterpreted Biafrans again by imposing taxes on our mothers, our mothers resisted this unhealthy over taxation` with their pestles, which is known today as "Aba Women Riot of 1929". In an attempt to punish Biafrans for their age long refusal to be conquered, the British colonial government decided to hand over the governance of Nigeria to the Hausa-Fulanis and urged them to unleash mayhem in any attempt of rebellion against oppression from Biafrans.

Since the 1950s till date, the Hausa-Fulanis have been acting this British script perfectly well. Remember the pre-1960 census and election killings of Biafrans in the Northern part of Nigeria. What about the 1966-1970 killings of millions of Biafrans by Britain, Hausa-Fulani, and their allies? We should also not forget the futile efforts of these haters to obliterate everything about Biafra by erasing history subject in the Nigerian schools' curriculum.
Even after many years of trying to hide our identities from us, the Biafran spirit still speaks louder and louder every day. Though from 1970 till 1999, it was resting in the heart of men, the pains and agonies of our fathers and our mothers during the war. Our souls were yearning for vengeance, but our bodies were weak to do so, due to the excessive militarization of the Nigerian geopolitical space during the period above.
From 1999 till date, things have not been the same. The Biafran souls cremated and buried with the British, USSR, and Arabs made bombs stirred up the souls of their successors to ask questions of why they were so gruesomely murdered? Who played what role in their killings? Although these questions have been asked in diverse ways, Nigeria and her accomplices have been running from pillar to post, seeking to come out with a better answer for the past 50 years now.

Sometimes, she uses military “crushing” to see if the children of those killed will stop asking questions. Sometimes, she chooses the divide and rule antics by buying over the consciences of some of the gullible and stupid sons and daughters of those killed.
Although the later approach has been working for her as those bought over either forgets where they’re going or constitute themselves a clog to those who are tenaciously pursuing the course. Now it is obvious to the Hausa-Fulanis and their shameless British instigator, that Biafrans have once again reunited to take what rightly belongs to them. They are now in a confused state as to what to do in order to keep Biafrans in their failed enterprise called Nigeria, but no solution seemed handy.
They have now cunningly submitted to their earlier rejected "Restructuring of Nigeria" knowing fully well that their fraudulent constitution does not have favourable provisions for the restructuring of the failed state that will benefit the Biafrans. To this end, Biafrans are a thousand step ahead of them and wiser not to buy into the ill-conceived restructuring agenda. Rather, Biafrans are unanimous in their total rejection of the fraudulent Nigerian constitution, opting for only a United Nations-supervised referendum.
