The Biafra Heroes day which is usually marked on every 30th of May is gradually closing in, and we are preparing to remember the various sacrifices made by our people in the past and presently. It is worthwhile to peruse on the circumstances that led to their undue demise. What prompted such high and horrible prices for freedom?
Firstly, every human being born of a woman came into the world free and naked. Nobody came to earth clad with cloth or in shackles, therefore freedom is fundamentally of God.
Secondly, humans and animals are normally born into a household, family, clan and tribe, they automatically qualifies as bona-fide members with unreserved rights to entitlements.

Thirdly, these tribes are naturally sited in a particular place with same set of people sharing beliefs, cultures, languages and ways of life, that is why there are species of humans acclaimed to a tribe, state, country, nation and continent.
Even the world is sub divided into Europe, Asia, Africa, and Arab, etc. The most conspicuous of this decentralization is that they possess similar attributes and locations which gives characterization to them.
Our heroes understood that being in an enclosed contraption was not enough excuse to denounce their heritage and God given rights. These were not reasons to give up or give away their identity and ideology.

Therefore, we need to appreciate the efforts they made in giving up the most precious of all to give us freedom. Without identity, we become nonentities and prey to thieving raiders, who will drain our systems till the last drop.
The raiders are relentlessly trying to subdue our efforts of acquiring freedom. They also want to erase our history from existing but we need to make it an impossible venture for them.

The labours of our heroes past must not be put to rest because they are the foundation upon which we stand. They are the bedrocks of our freedom and the backbone to our struggle.
How can we look away when we are more than halfway to getting back our stolen identity? How can we allow marauders to steal our posterity from us and enstrange our children from reality of their identity?
30th May, has set in and it is another time to remember our heroes. Honouring them by sitting at home is like observing some minutes silence for a dead one. It costs no money nor pain! As Biafrans, we must honour the labours of our heroes that died during and after the war.
