It is no longer news how the catastrophic President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have illegally detained and deliberately prolonged the trial of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu employing every judicial antic known to man. When it seems that has failed, he started waging war against reputable judges who has stood their grounds to do the right thing in setting Nnamdi Kanu free, breaking into their homes, seizing their case files and subjecting them to pain and humiliation, just because they choose to align themselves with the truth.
Nevertheless, he may have not relented in his devilish plan in seeing that Nnamdi Kanu is sentenced to jail, hence his choice in picking a new judge from his home state who will preside over Kanu’s case at the Federal High Court come 8th of November.

Buhari as usual, is planning to use Hon. Justice Binta F.M Nyako who hails from Katsina state as himself to further pervert the cause of justice in Kanu’s trial. If this is not his intention, then I guess he has a better explanation to give for the rationale behind his choice in picking Justice Nyako if not that he has an ulterior motive and a hidden agenda about to unfold.
Probably, Justice Nyako, going by her antecedents, might be a perverted judge Buhari can easily manipulate to do his bidding.
Hon. Justice B.F.M Nyako who is believed to have gathered experience in her many years of service, should bear it in mind before proceeding to judge Kanu’s case that qualities of a good judge includes upholding the integrity, rule of law and defending the independence of the judiciary at all costs regardless of pressures that may come her way. She should know that an independent and honorable judiciary is indispensable to justice in a society. A judge should maintain and enforce high standards of judicial conduct and should personally observe those standards, so that the integrity and independence of the judiciary may be preserved.
Deference to the judgments and rulings of courts depends on public confidence in the integrity and independence of judges. The integrity and independence of judges in turn, depends on their acting without fear or favour. Although judges should be independent, they must comply with the law and codes of conduct. A judge should shun impropriety and avoid its appearance in all activities.

A judge should respect and comply with the law and should act at all times in a manner that promotes public confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary. Judges should not allow families, social, political, financial, or other relationships to influence judicial conduct or judgment. A judge should neither lend the prestige of the judicial office to advance his personal interests or others nor convey or permit others to convey the impression that they are in a special position to influence the judge.
Testimony as a character witness injects the prestige of the judicial office into the proceeding in which the judge testifies and may be perceived as an official testimonial. Judge should discourage a party from requiring a character witnesses to testify against the other wearing masks in an open case except in unusual circumstances when the demands of justice require. This Canon does not create a privilege against testifying in response to an official summons.
She should strive hard to remain faithful to, and maintain professional competence in law and should not allow herself to be swayed by partisan interests, public clamour, or fear of criticism while performing the duties of her office in a fair, impartial and diligent manner; maintaining order and decorum in all judicial proceedings.
Finally, Hon. Justice B.F.M Nyako should also bear it in mind that the case she is about to handle is a very high profile and sensitive case and the accused, a global figure, and as such, all eyes are on her, the world would be watching how she dispenses justice in this matter.
