Friday October 7 2016.
The gimmicks and deceits showcased by the Nigerian government's defence lawyer, at the Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS (Economic Community Of West African States) Abuja, on 5th October 2016, is a proof of their plan to keep prolonging their case with Nnamdi Kanu (the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra) and his illegal detention.
Owing to bail denial and gross abuse of judicial process by the Department Of States Security Services (DSSS), Nnamdi Kanu's defence team led by Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor had on May 2016 dragged the Nigerian Government to ECOWAS Court in pursuit of Justice.
Recall that on 19th October 2015, Nnamdi Kanu was granted bail at the Magistrate Court with bail conditions met; also on 17th December 2015, his unconditional release was ordered by Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court. Yet, against these court orders, Nnamdi Kanu is still in detention at Buhari's orders and wishes. This indeed, is an undisguised show of anarchy.

More to these developments, the federal government that has incarcerated Nnamdi Kanu on the grounds of alleged treasonable felony and management of an unlawful society, failed to show up at the Community Court to substantiate their claims. Though the Nigerian government had received over one month notice for this case slated to be heard on 5th October 2016, her defence lawyer filed a motion, absenting himself from the court session few hours before court proceedings and without any representative.
This vapid excuse was furiously condemned by one of the 3 man panel of judges from Ecowas, Justice Friday Nwoke, who insisted that the court case at Kaduna (as Nigeria's defence lawyer claimed) is not reasonable enough for the federal government's absence in the court session, while the presiding judge, Justice Micah Wright fined the Nigerian government the sum of one million naira as compensation for Barr. Ejiofor's flight fare to Abuja for the case.
Nigeria's damnable parade in court sessions with a corrupt judge (Justice John Tsoho) and in a corrupt system could not be replicated at the ECOWAS court despite several threats to intimidate judges and attempts to bribe their way through. ECOWAS court, through the values she upholds has turned to a nightmare to the fantastically corrupt Nigerian government.

It is noteworthy that IPOB has consistently sought for a legal and peaceful resolutions to resolving her case with the federal government of Nigeria. Despite provocations by the Nigerian security agencies, tortures, and several abuse of Human Rights (as validated by Amnesty International in three different reports since June 2016), IPOB has continued to seek redress through nonviolent means and in best practices.
Justice Micah Wright, has given his words, and the ECOWAS Court has won the confidence of Biafrans; on 8th November 2016, this case will be heard and ruled. ECOWAS Court, from the steps it has taken so far, has demonstrated every willingness to uphold justice and redeem the image of an already battered judiciary in Nigeria.
IPOB is hopeful that on 8th November 2016, Buhari's tyrannical tendencies will be subdued; justice will prevail to the benefit of humanity and sustainable democracy.
