TENSION IN ENUGU AS POLICE, ROBBERS ENGAGE IN GUN DUEL...TWO SHOT DEAD

Residents of Enugu State on Wednesday were thrown into panic following a gun duel involving nine suspected armed robbers, who raided several parts of the State and security operatives.
Emanating from our earlier reports of the suspected robbers who attacked the Enugu State government house and several areas including the exchange of power between them and security operatives at the Enugu state government house, the hoodlums had launched an operation, which lasted for several hours.

BIAFRA WRITERS gathered that they had attacked a location within the New Market axis of the metropolis before moving to the Obiagu Roundabout, popularly called Council, where they shot and killed a driver.
A dependable source revealed that before the suspected robbers drove off, they snatched three vehicles, adding that “they put one of the drivers in their boot.”

It was further disclosed that the dead victim, popularly identified as “Ayaka” was shot severally in many parts of his body.
The Enugu state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident, said two of the hoodlums had been arrested, while one was shot dead.
According to a statement, he made available to journalists; “the Enugu state Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ojukwu has applauded his operatives for their efforts leading to the arrest of two of the hoodlums, with one other shot dead.

“The hoodlums had operated around Edinburgh/Ogui new layout axis and some of the metro in the afternoon, which led to the death of one person before operatives of the command confronted them headlong and ensured that they did not have a free day.”
He continued, saying, “manhunt on other members of the gang are on as operatives are still combing.”

Meanwhile, there appears to be a contradictory report coming from eye witnesses at the premises of Enugu state government building and across Bisala road as they revealed that the suspected were never attacked or being repelled by the police or other security operatives as they scampered for safety, leaving the hoodlums to operate freely in the vicinity.
