RESTRUCTURING NIGERIA IS NOT THE ANSWER.

RESTRUCTURING NIGERIA IS NOT THE ANSWER.

14th July 2016

The former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, have in recent times, been making headlines in his calls for Nigeria’s political system to be restructured. Before him, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, had delivered lectures in which he also called for the restructuring of Nigeria.

It seems their calls are getting attention as Emeka Anyaoku, and Alex Ekwueme have joined them to sing the song of restructuring, just as they promoted the slogan "change" that eventually turned out to be 'chain'. Almost all the political bigwigs are now calling for the restructuring of Nigeria.

Why are they calling for restructuring? "Because there is a systemic failure in Nigeria, and Nigerian institutions cannot take Nigeria on a sustainable path not only to prosperity but to sustainable Democracy", as one said.

Did they just notice the failure of Nigeria? Did the failure of Nigeria begin today? These men were part and parcel of the failed system, they were instrumental to its failure. They thrived in their various offices, made their billions and left quietly without saying a word only to turn back to begin to call for the restructuring of  Nigeria.

The truth is that everything in Nigeria has failed, not just the kleptomaniac rulership. The economy, the judicial system, and every other thing is all involved in the mess and they are thinking that the way out is restructuring?

The fact that they have been part of the system, indicates their active involvement in the guaranteed collapse of the system. Hence, their calls for restructuring is simply another ploy to recycle themselves to power and continue with the atrocities in the failed system under a new name.

The one and only sure answer to Nigeria’s problem is division or disintegration. Every region or ethnic group should be allowed to go their separate ways and to administer themselves. There is no need to mince words about this undeniable fact. Restructuring or regionalism, or whatever they may choose to term it can never be the answer to Nigeria's chronic and epidemic failure.

We Biafrans have seen it all before now and have made up our minds to opt out of the unholy union of one-Nigeria, where some regions claim rulership to be their heritage by every means possible. Where Islamic fundamentalism spills human blood as water without anyone raising eyebrows. Can restructuring stop Islamic fundamentalism in Nigeria? It will not stop oppression, tribal hatred, aggression, and harsh economic policies against the Biafrans.

Therefore, it would be a waste of time to nurture the idea of restructuring. The people cannot afford to be hoodwinked once again into their system of political quagmires. We are wailing that Nigeria is an oppressive state and that some people who were part and parcel of that vicious shibboleth are calling for a new wave of slavery in the same slave camp.

They do so, knowing fully well that their suggestions cannot work because of the evil nature of those who are at the helm of leadership. It is said that a leopard cannot change its skin, and so it is, that Nigeria will never be good even if restructuring takes place.

The people promoting restructuring are the same people that will take over power and turn it to what they know best to do. We are not part of such heinous calls or moves, rather we have made it categorically clear that we need to exit the Nigerian union.

We are for self-determination and Biafra is our stand, and not on any form of restructuring. The world should hear us. These men are now open as never before that Nigeria has failed. And if this is coming from the horse's mouth, what other evidences does the UN, EU, AU, and Human Rights Organisations need to act promptly to support and guarantee our inalienable rights to freedom and self-determination?

They should recognize the Sovereign State of Biafra as soon as possible to end this lingering hell called Nigeria. All Hail Biafra.
