HALLIBURTON SCANDAL: EXPOSING BUHARI'S WIFE AND HIS ANTI-CORRUPTION FAUX

In a ‘’fantastically corrupt country’’ (-David Cameron), a case that has long been concluded in the United States of America is yet to be considered crucial enough to be probed. A case that has already been established by Nnamdi Kanu about Nigeria, is further raising some dusts as United States and Biafra demand for immediate probe and prosecution of every Nigerian indicted in the report.

Buhari’s quest to reclaim about $140 million of the bribe still in the possession of the US government, prompted the US government to request for thorough investigation on the case. According to Tribune, ‘’the US government had threatened that unless those culpable in the case were brought to book, about $140 million of the bribery recovered and still in the coffers of the US government, won’t be repatriated to Nigeria’’.

Ignorant of the elements involved in the scandal, Dictator Buhari ordered his security agents to re-open this bribery case and recommend the next line of action.

Till date, Buhari’s government has not published any report from their investigations. Buhari has suddenly become unmoved as it regards reclaiming the $140 million. As long as this case is concerned, he has become unenthusiastic to fighting corruption, his commitment to crushing corruption became an illusion only to be pursued.

Though some ‘’Radio Biafra Faithfuls’’ has heard Mazi Nnamdi Kanu accuse Aisha Buhari and other Nigerian politicians of their role in Halliburton scandal, his claims was further authenticated in a press release by Ayo Fayose(the governor of Ekiti State).

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, Mr Fayose said ‘’The estate he (Buhari) built in Abuja is known to us. His wife was indicted over the Halliburton Scandal. When that American, Jefferson, was being sentenced, the President’s wife was mentioned as having wired $170,000 to Jefferson. Her name was on page 25 of that sentencing of Jefferson. We can serialize the judgment for people to see and read’’.

In a 25 paged Government Sentencing Memorandum, William Jefferson was convicted by the jury of selling his congressional office with the intention of enriching his family with hundreds of millions of dollars in the bribery proceeds and concealing more than $478,000 in actual bribe payments through nominee companies and sham consulting agreements and was thereto sentenced to a minimum stay of 27 years imprisonment.

In the same report, the 22nd page of it read, ‘’Government Exhibits 36-87 (6/26/02 $170,000 wire transfer from account in Nigeria in the name of Aisha Buhari to an account in the name of the ANJ Group, LLC identifying ‘’William Jefferson’’ as Beneficiary) …The possibility that the defendant had set up a nominee company and account in Nigeria was also supported by the trail testimony of Dumebi Kachikwu, an executive with NDTV and co-conspirator of the defendant’’.

To this end, Buhari has gotten to the point of no return, his attitude towards this bribery scandal is the proof to the entire world that he is running a fantastically corrupt government. As long as this bribery scandal is not indicting his political opponents; it is a regrettable venture to him. His anti-corruption campaign is only potent against his political opponents. In Mr Jude Ndukwe’s word, ‘’There is hardly any perceived government critic or political opponent who has not suffered media trial, extra-judicial actions borne out of vindictiveness, and or jail term in the hands of agents of government: from Sambo Dasuki, Kayode Are, Nnamdi Kanu, Eburi-Olu Adegboruwa, Femi Kani-Kayode, Sheikh El Zakzaky, Robert Azibaola, Hon Afolabi Akanniof Ekiti State House of Assembly, IPOB/MASSOB members, Shiite Muslims and other victims of military brutality etc. Who were never given the opportunity to defend themselves but summarily executed even with little or no provocation’’.

In response to Fayose’s revelations, Aisha Buhari, who has intentionally avoided any trip to the US for the sake of this cae, released the most obnoxious and repellent statement, where he called a sitting governor an ‘’unchained mad dog’’. Also in her tweet yesterday evening, she ridiculed the president of lacking energy to fight Fayose.

In singleness of purpose, we, the Biafrans entreat the US government to further demand the probe of this bribery scandal; for the sake of justice, the guilty should be convicted and money repatriated.
