Nnamdi Kanu The Legend |
Nigeria is characterised by ineffectiveness, criminality, human right abuses and all kinds of vices, especially in the current administration. Recall that Nnamdi Kanu, who is the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra, the director of Radio Biafra and Television, was advocating for a Biafran nation by canvasing for the total independence of Nigeria’s former eastern region, historically known as Biafra.
We acknowledge every people’s right to a peculiar identity and self-determination and therefore, throughout the period of the last administration, he has been campaigning for the restoration of the sovereign state of Biafra through the popular Radio Biafra. Apparently, knowing how delicate the issue appears to be, the last administration led by Goodluck Jonathan, decided to thread gently in that regards, notably, by paying more attention to other critical national issues at the time, such as the dwindling economy, terrorism, corruption. Etc.

However, as soon as the present administration came on board, ill-advised, it sought to address the Biafran issue with military crack-downs and human right abuses. At first it began by using the armed forces to murder unarmed protesters who have been internationally acclaimed to have engaged in the world’s largest and most peaceful protests. Current reports of the protests which took place in over 60 countries of the world, have been acknowledged as the world’s largest peaceful protests for the same objective.
An internet platform known as Tune-in, which hosts online radio stations, frequently had Radio Biafra trending as the “most-listened-to” Radio station, above the world’s most popular Radio stations such as BBC Radio, ESPN Radio and others. Similarly, on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, etc. the Biafran saga frequently dominated discussions, as popular hash tags such as #FreeNnamdiKanu and #FreeBiafra have continually flown around the internet.
As pointed out earlier, it is a well-known and acknowledged fact, that every peculiar people of the world have the right to decide the identity they want to identify with. In a similar vein, all people of the world also have the right to self-determination and no one should deny any people of this classically fundamental human right. However, because of the gruesomeness, the ignorance, the criminality, recklessness, the decay and the utter mediocrity inherent in the Nigerian system, it finds it unfriendly to acknowledge these basic human rights and hence tends to always apply military force in order to quell any civil disagreements, no matter how genuine the struggle is.
Recently, Nigeria’s recklessness and insensibility has further exposed the atrocious nature of the country and has made Nnamdi Kanu another world legend, as it has succeeded in helping him propagate his messages even further to the ends of the earth. Recall that Nnamdi Kanu was extra judicially incarcerated by the Nigerian government in its usual ferocious approach towards handling civil matters, simply because he is promoting self-determination for the Biafran people. As a consequence of this unlawful action by the Nigerian government, Kanu has been made the world’s newest legend as he is currently the most trending man in the world.
As a prisoner of conscience, Kanu has currently broken the world record for the man whose pictures have been most widely used as profile pictures on the world’s most popular social media platforms, such as, Twitter and Facebook. Radio Biafra London (RBL) is the largest single forum on Facebook, having over six hundred and eighty thousand participants or members and is been operated by Biafrans who are sympathetic to the Biafra restoration quest. Over four hundred and fifty thousand participants have Kanu’s picture as their profile pictures while others have the Biafran flag, pictures with inscriptions such as “Free Nnamdi Kanu”, “Free Biafra” or other Biafra-related pictures as their profile pictures.
