KANU: DSS SPURIOUS CHARGES AGAINST NNAMDI KANU .....A SHOW OF SHAME

KANU: DSS SPURIOUS CHARGES AGAINST NNAMDI KANU .....A SHOW OF SHAME
DSS Boss  Lawan Daura
Most wars fought in the world are either wars for freedom or domination. Every aspiration for freedom is an aspiration for democracy because democracy means freedom. This is what the young man, Nnamdi Kanu is fighting for; total liberation of his people: the Indigenous People of Biafra from the irreconcilable differences, ethnic and religious divide, injustices, deliberate lopsidedness and marginalization, wanton killings and evil machinations in the hands of the persecutors and perpetrators of evil and avarice.
For a man to take it upon himself to salvage the dignity of the dehumanizing sufferings of his people means it has prolonged and dragged to an extent where common reason should have prevailed and the captives set free from the evil hands of their captors. Yet this seems not to be forthcoming as the "liberator" himself is unlawfully detained against the ambits of democracy, even as Christians all over the world are celebrating the birth of Christ today, this young man is been incarcerated and locked up in dungeon and his immediate family in emotional psychological torture.
He(Nnamdi Kanu) has been preferred with several spurious charges both in the magistrate and high court bordering on: Criminal conspiracy and leading/ownership of an unlawful society, unlawful possession of firearms, terrorism and terrorism financing, all of which was struck out in court for lack of merit and his subsequent discharge and acquittal. The Federal government's controlled DSS having lost out woefully in those charges, then resorted to slamming him with another frivolous charge of treasonable felony.  Is it not rather absurd that a man nonviolently expressing and exercising his right to self-determination will be charged for treason and other insensitive charges and the indigenous people of an ancient and existed nation termed "an unlawful society"?.
Nnamdi Kanu
The presiding judge in his wisdom having weighed the options wholeheartedly accepted Kanu's objection to stand for his trial because of the defiance of the previous court rulings on the part of the prosecutor, DSS and honourably resigned from presiding over the case which was rightly expected of any sane Judge. It was a big slap on the face of the Federal government by this singular action as the Judge may be acting to protest the ridicule accorded it by the government having flagrantly disobeyed the rulings granting Nnamdi Kanu freedom repeatedly and which is a retrogressive trend to a citizen's right in a democratic country.
The APC government is not a court to detain its citizens under frivolous guises. The supremacy of the Presidency have overwhelmed the Judiciary, sending negative signal that Nigeria is indeed in a despotic regime and so the government should realize the implications of tyrannical governance and quickly salvage its dwindling image internationally.
But of a truth, we are not surprised by this "impolitic and unsavoury" act by the Nigerian state as this has rendered credence to the assertions of the same embattled Director of Radio Biafra that Nigeria is a lawless state with little or no respect to the rule of law which can now be confirmed by his critics and supporters as well. Does this really imply that Nigeria is really a zoo inhabited by monkeys and baboons where the rule of law is nonexistent? Your guess is as good as mine.
We are very much aware that during the 2015 electioneering campaign which threw up Muhammadu Buhari as the President of the country, the APC secured a court order, barring the then President Goodluck Jonathan's PDP-led federal government in the deployment of the military in securing the lives of voters and voting materials in the election and that court order was fully obeyed to the letter. Also in his acceptance speech, Buhari swore to respect and uphold the rule of law and strengthen Nigeria's democracy but his actions and continuous defiance to the rule of law and court rulings which doesn't favour him has proven him otherwise, portraying him as a democratically elected and civilian President in a military garb which in his dictatorial tendencies chooses which court orders to obey and his insincere promises relegated to the background.
There have been an avalanche of calls by civil liberties and pro-democracy organisations, well meaning individuals, even clergymen and dozens of street protests nationwide and outside the nation, condemning the continued incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, asking for his release but all these pleas and calls for dialogue all seems to have fallen to deaf ears.

NIGERIAN ARMY SHOOTING UNARMED PROTESTERS

Nevertheless, the avoidable and indiscriminate shooting of unarmed IPOB/MASSOB members protesting and calling for Kanu's release, even those jubilating at Onitsha on hearing the court judgment by the Nigerian security agents who should be protecting human lives against destruction speaks volume on how powerful they can be against defenseless people but weak, incompetent and tactless in the face of terrorism and armed insurrections.
Finally, I commend the friends, families and most especially, the Indigenous People of Biafra whose leader is been detained for resisting violence and embracing peace in their pursuit for freedom and self-determination even in the midst of extreme provocation by Nigeria and its overzealous security agents.
